I think I screwed up… Sent Save the Date cards made of magnetic paper

Basically, when they arrived, they already came with little paper backings that were meant to stop the magnetic side from sticking to stuff, and I had tested the envelope against our fridge to see if it would stick before mailing and it didn’t, but apparently I tested the wrong side because I just tried it again flipped and it stuck to the fridge.

I brought them to USPS this morning to hand them off and even said there was magnetic paper inside, but they didn’t seem concerned. Now I’m just worried they’re going to end up stuck in a machine somewhere, has anyone else had any experiences with this?!

Addressing question for letter mail

Hi all,

I’m looking to mail a letter/ postcard to my SO who is currently doing a semester program that is based out of a lodge in Canada. I’m just wondering how I go about addressing the letter so that he will get it (do I address it to the program him and the lodge or just the lodge and him ect). I’m gonna give the lodge a email or call to confirm if this is even possible but I figured I’d see if anyone here has been in a similar situation.

Thanks!

Neighbor keeps writing my address instead of theirs on mail then accuses me of stealing her mail

Help! A lady one block over keeps writing my address so we keep getting her mail. She came to my house at midnight accusing me of stealing her packages while on the phone with 911. This is the third time she has come in person on my property screeching and ringing my doorbell like a madwoman. Her mail gets delivered to my house so frequently that I usually just walk over and redeliver it. But I can’t keep doing this as I am not a mail carrier. She called the cops and they never showed up. It’s just so exhausting. Any advice or ideas on how to stop this? I was thinking of getting a restraining order. We got into a screaming match in the outside, and I told her to learn her address lol.

At what point do we admit the mailbox system is broken?

I need to vent a little because this has been bothering me more than it should. Our apartment has those shared mailboxes near the parking lot. Nice setup honestly. Locked doors, outgoing slot, everything seems official. But tell me why I dropped two letters last week and they just stayed there. Day one, fine. Day three, still there. Day five, same letters sitting like museum display.

Why do we all just accept this? We still pay for mailing services. We still trust the system. But the mailbox feels like decoration now. I even checked different times thinking maybe carrier comes late. Nope. Same envelopes. Same silence.

And then we wonder why people stop using physical mail. One of the letters was important documents for a small order I made after finding packaging suppliers on alibaba. Nothing fancy, just paperwork. Now I’m sitting here wondering if I should resend everything or just hope someday someone opens that box. What frustrates me is that nobody explains anything. Is pickup weekly? Random? Did routes change? Why is there no notice posted?

I asked neighbors and everyone shrugged like this is normal. Why is this normal? We build systems then slowly stop maintaining them. Mailboxes should mean reliability. Instead it feels like dropping letters into a wishing well. And honestly, I’m tired of pretending this is fine.

Fast Intercontinental Mail

I ordered something and it is supposed to be delivered by the mail service Fast Intercontinental Mail. Since it is a discreet package they asked me to send money so they could deal with the whole situation around it. I was sent a tracking number and the website looks fine. They also promised to return the money as soon as the package arrives. Now they are asking for even more money and a picture of my ID. I’m starting to question the whole thing and am wondering if they are legit. Do any of you have experience with this delivery service? Did your packages arrive?

Is this a valid PO box address? (USA)

The band I’m into is dropping lots of easter eggs leading up to a new album release. They put out a shirt with a phone number that actually works (plays a song clip), so I’m wondering if the PO box on there is a valid mailing address too. I’m just confused by the letters/numbers and lack of zip code, but I also don’t know if PO boxes have some special address system. In case it’s helpful info, the band is from Tennessee. Any answers or redirection to other subs are appreciated!

I need to mail an unopened letter containing an important document to recipient in Japan

Sent to his home address here in the U.S., I need to get it to him in a way that ensures it does not get "lost". Does anyone have experience using USPS First-Class Mail International to Japan?

International service restricted (Dom. Rep.)

Hey,

I'm currently in the Dominican Republic on vacation. For a couple of years I once was working for my national postal service provider in a middle sized European country.

As per tradition, I wanted to send physical postcards to a couple of relatives at home. However, I was told by a lady in the post office here that my country is not on the list of countries to which exports are made this month. Indeed, there is info on INPOSDOM's website that this April mail can be sent to (for instance) Germany and Japan, but not to (for instance) Belgium or Singapore.

In my understanding this is in violation of the universal postal service agreement. There is no strike, no COVID restrictions, no international sanctions. I have never heard of anything like this. How can this be a thing?

I would not mind if the shipping took ages but to deny shipping because this month the universal service provider doesn't feel like it seems very off to me. I've been to post offices in many countries, and as already mentioned I worked for a national postal service provider, but I have no idea how this could be legal.

I'm honestly thinking about routing my postcards to Germany and relying on them forwarding them to their real destination country.

Any thoughts or advice?

Parcel forwarding from Poland

Hi, I need to get a parcel forwarded from Poland to the U.K. as the publisher doesn’t ship internationally. There seem to be a lot of websites that offer this but I’m hesitant to just jump in.

Can anyone recommend one they have used recently that isn’t going to cost the earth?

Thank you!
