A very overdue return to Link’s Awakening

A very overdue return to Link’s Awakening

The GameBoy/Link’s Awakening bundle was the first ever console game I owned. As a kid playing this the game felt like such a mystery to me back then. It took me forever to reach the east side of island for whatever reason. I used to shove the cartridge in harder than normal to glitch my character to other sides of the island I hadn’t been to yet. So many fun memories of figuring this game out back then.

I seriously cant believe I wanted until today to start the remake. They have done such an incredible job IMO. The soundtrack alone… mixing some of the digital sound with orchestrated instruments. It takes you right back. It’s even more of a nostalgia hit because of the OoT-style NPC yelps and grunts, which was the first time we heard that type of interaction.

Anyway, just wanted to share my absolute glee at this game. Also, really happy to be a kid in the 90s when some amazing remakes are coming out (FF7).

Why can’t I activate this teleport? It is the one near Eagle Tower. I just finished the Catfish dungeon and helped the pink ghost reach his/her grave..

Cleared in week without dying.

Everytime when I clear the game and before credits I was really in coma lol, cause when i see the world disappearing it's really touchable.

The fact that we can't use the d-pad to control the floor tile machine thing in Turtle Rock is diabolical.

I think I hate this game. I know what to do, I understand the damn puzzle.

The mechanics of this just feel so unfun, especially given how crappy the joysticks are and how long it takes for the machine in game to respond to input.

Let me use the d-pad, that's how it was done in the original version of the game, and that way, when the machine randomly decides to not work and disappear into the ether, Link won't yeet himself into the hole in the floor either.

Update: About 20 minutes later and I've done this one stinking "puzzle." I have the key and can finally move on with my life. 😌
