Mine:
- ai (specifically gemini) is useful at explaining stuff for subjects that are very objective, like equations in maths or physics, you can rely on the answers, just screenshot or copy paste the question into the chat and it will give you a step by step answer
- get the "exam skills geography" book, mind map the essays to commit them to memory, and regurgitate them (have good geography predictions)
- do the same for english with english key notes 2026 and 2027 (you can identify patterns in the questions that come up), then you just have to alter them slightly on the day
- use images to commit things to memory (your brain can remember images easier than words). implement this by using flashcards with drawings attached to the definitions you want to remember, and learn how to make good mind maps
- take stimulant medication lol
also, for subjects like physical education, how are ye studying? how do you know what the examiner is looking for?
Like, hello, I was just in 1st Yr like yesterday.
school forcing attedance now, plc waiting for me, i rather js take this shi today and get it done with atp lol
I'm reaching the end of fifth year and I was thinking of the picking up an extra subject such as classical studies. I do 6 subjects in school, and maths and irish are hell for me. Im hoping to start classical studies as i already study latin, I would need to study this all on my own, is this achieveable or would i need to seek out a grinds teacher? Is it possible to get it done in about a year or so? And where would i get all the resources, if anyone can share it would be much appreciated.
Do they ever stop…..
I’m being so serious when I say it’s like my subconscious is getting more and more creative with scaring me.
Basically I need a subject where I could achieve an h1 to reach my goal, my school doesn’t offer these 2 subjects, I’m in 5th year and ready to dedicate some time to one of these over the summer. I feel like these two would be something id be interested in so id actually be motivated to study it. My concern is that both have a project and i dont want to spend so much money to go externally to another grinds school to do the subject. Is there any workaround to this, can i do everything independently or would going to another school be necessary. Other than that would anyone who has done something similar be able to recommend a subject i could do that would be optimal in my case, maybe a basic language or something, thanks
Omggggg I don't even need a lot of points ,that's not what I'm stressed about but it's so draining being around some of the teachers right now, constantly putting a person's value on points ,why should I be aiming for like 500 when I've never got 500 in my mocks or any over exam and I only need less than 300 points. And constantly judging my interests just because I don't study 24/7 and I am 18 which apparently means I should only worry about work now , and constantly acting like their class is the only one I have😤 I'm so done with these people. I needed to get this out ,is anyone else just done with the teachers specifically?
I got 542 points in my mock, to get into UCD I need 543, so I feel like it’s a given that I’ll be moving to Dublin this summer for college (I live in Cork)
However my top choice is TCD for 565 points or my second choice in TCD is 556 points. I feel like realistically I will make that jump, because people always say it’s just a given. My religion teacher was saying you’re practically guaranteed to jump 30 more points in the actual thing.
It almost feels impossible to get less in the mock. I didn’t look at mock leaks but I’m worried my teachers gave too many hints about what was coming up and that really boosted my points in the mocks.
It made me wonder if anyone has actually gotten less in the lc compared to the mocks, if you did, I’d be interested to know why in hindsight, and any advice you have!
3 weeks left minus the bank Holiday and Fun Day. 13 Days. I know leaving school is such an exciting thing but honestly I'm feeling quite somber about it. Apart from teachers treating you like your still 13 or learning subjects you have no interest in, school really isn't that bad. Im book smart so I acc enjoy school. I'm feeling somber about leaving this building I've spent so long of my life in, the last 6 years everyday for like 160 days a year. As well as that, the thing I feel like I'll miss most is the npcs that you just wouldn't see outside school. You know those people you talk to and have good craic with but would never see or meet outside school. I feel like when I go to uni I'll miss how personal classrooms are, where u can acc get to know people instead of being in a lecture hall of ≈300 people. Idk I'm looking forward to being done school, the nights out after the lc and leaving cert holidays but still. It feels bittersweet. Anyone else?
Okay so being honest I’ve literally hardly done any study for most subjects and none for some like I want to get over 500 points and I got around 400 in the mocks,I’m just wondering does any one have any tips for studying English or Irish because my teacher in English won’t give me above a h5 thanks so much
Sometimes i feel like the 625 culture that people get sucked into is incredibly harmful. Will getting that perfect course leave you any better off than someone who took a similar one in a different university for less?
For example economics and finance in ucd is 625 while the same course in tud is 436, obviously quality in education is a factor as you would expect the more prestigious college to have better lectures etc and every course varies but I do believe that your outcome in life will be defined by the things you do yourself in these courses rather than which uni you actually attended (i.e internships etc), this doesn't apply to every course obviously every industry is different but the fear of not getting into the top university seems kind of deluded to me.
I watched my own sister put herself through hell to get 600 points just for her mental state to collapse post lc and obviously thats not a reflection on everyone but I do believe that the constant battle of perfectionism that points requirements dictated by demand creates tunnel vision that only steers you away from what it actually takes to get to your dream job. Ive seen so many talks from successful irish individuals talking about what pathways brought them to where they are today and not a single one had a simple linear career path. If you REALLY want something then you will find a way to get it, 625 course or not.
Also this is not meant to be a "dont feel bad for not putting in the work" kind of post, Im aiming for 500+ points myself. Its more of an observation on how i see so many stressing at the thought of perfection as if their whole life depends on the college they went to
i heard you probably won’t get it if your GP filled out the form but what else? i didn’t fill out the page where you put in your grades over the years because i was diagnosed before secondary school so will that affect my eligibility? 😫
I’ve struggled a lot with maths and I just barelyy passed my mocks, decided to stay foolishly and realising now I should drop, done a few questions ol and def find them easier. none of the courses I want require a specific maths grade beside just the h7/o6. with the amount of time we have and the work to do it’s probably in my favour to drop. my teacher isint much help for talking to about dropping or not. I know the paper is different but I’m unsure
I suck at Irish history and was absent when we were doing it due to medical reasons, but I’m really good at European and the wider world. A teacher from my friend’s school said that they could answer three questions from the same section, as long as they were in two topics and I was wondering the validity of this??? This could be the difference between a h1 and a h4 to me
Does anyone else find studying English extremely draining, I really struggle to do it, with Maths and sciences, I can easily put down 5 hours of study no issue,
but I really struggle studying even an hour of English I just don't feel like anything I do is productive at all, and I feel like I'm wasting time
I got like 400 points in the mocks with absolutely no study and I’ve only really started to study now, I’m doing every subject in higher level, can I still get 500 points or am I cooked? If I study 6 hours a day would I be able to get the points?
y'all how many essays r we learning for history. ive got the DBQs done but how many do i need to be safe for the three other topics. ive got about four for each. is that enough? what are we predicting for 2026
