Bar for solo female?

Hi. Hope all of your are fine. I'm 33 yrs old female and I have never been to a bar. I've been told by my male friends that it's not safe for a female to go to a bar/club alone? Is that true? I don't drink but just want to enjoy the vibes of a club/bar. Please suggest me if there’s any such place I can go on my own, thanks :)

Surrogacy Agencies

This might be a bit outside the typical content, but I'm looking for local options. Our family is hoping to grow through surrogacy. I'm curious if anyone has worked with a local Toronto/GTA agency? What was your experience?

(Before people come at me for exploring surrogacy, our local children's aid society is presently closed to new adoption applicants. We're heartbroken but looking for new options.)

Infertility Therapy/Therapist Recommendations

I'm thick in the middle of Infertility struggles and possibly exploring IVF. Its an expensive and exhausting procedure with no guarantee of a positive outcome, a.k.a, healthy baby.

Is there any therapist that helped you in the Journey?

Bars That Pretty Hipster Men Frequent?

My women and I (also a woman) are on the hunt this Friday. I’m hoping to kick off the long weekend properly by being visually blessed with the sights of some beautiful hipster men—ya know, the ones with the moustaches and who look like they snowboard. Where does this archetype of man frequent on their evenings out?

I promise we are a good looking group of young women and this was written in an ironic, humours tone and we are, in reality, not as peculiar as this post comes across.

(Preferably recommendations in down town TO)

Hey everyone, I left an abusive relationship and finally got my own apartment. Unfortunately my hair is matted severely and I don’t want to cut my hair. In the past when I had boyfriends and the relationship ended, I would always cut my hair to kinda have a fresh start in life. This time I told myself that I won’t do that. Part of me feels like cutting it short will make him win. It’s a mental thing I can’t explain it. Anyways I have called several salons and they are charging 500 plus. I have curly wavy hair 3A/3B hair. I am in desperate need. I just got settled and got furniture after being with victim services/ and the witness protection program for a year. This is such a huge unexpected expense. I called another salon and they said 60 dollars an hour. I am too embarrassed for anyone to see it but it got like this 2 weeks ago. I didn’t brush my hair and took a shower and when I came out it was all matted. The next day I put conditioner and oil to loosen the curls but every day that passed it just kept getting worse. During my separation I was scared of this very thing which is why I would go to the salon once every 2 weeks to get my hair straightened and just maintain it on my own, until my next appointment. This has never happened to me before and because of this I have been stuck at home for two weeks now. Does anyone have any advice ? Ideally a sliding scale salon or probono ? I’m living in Toronto

Hi all. I do a lot of walking to and from work in downtown Toronto and often do not want to change my shoes when I reach. We have a smart casual environment and I see a lot of women wearing white sneakers that look good even with semi formal office wear. I own a pair of white Olukai Huai shoes that are super comfy and also look nice. I bought a pair of new balance white shoes which are a bit heavy and not as comfortable to walk to work.

Any suggestions on the perfect white sneaker to wear at work which is also good for walking long distances? I like shoes that are lightweight. Anything other than sambas as I own one pair and it’s not as comfortable to walk to work. Besides everyone is wearing it at work.

Thanks!

Starting a new corporate job, fairly new to the city and have no "formal" shoes lol. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. What's a decent price range, where can I find them and any suggestions?

I was hoping to get something of good quality under $150. Is this unrealistic?

Do you know any doulas offering free or affordable low cost services somewhere surrounding the Etobicoke area?

I’m not even sure if this is the right community to post this, but I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and have an almost 2yo toddler. My first birth experience in the hospital was quite traumatic and I decided to give birth in birth centre with a midwife this time. Ideally I wanted to do it at home but I’m very emotionally sensitive and I’m scared of not being able to do it by myself without a doula. Anyone here who knows someone?

I am a petite woman(recently put on a good amount of weight), looking for some suggestions on which brands should I check out.
I mostly shop from Uniqlo, but want to experiment a bit. I recently tried aritzia, but felt more ashamed. The brand seemed a bit harsh for people on heavier side.
Please share your favourites.
