how do i check if photocards listed on xianyu are official/fake?

don’t understand chinese so I’ve been relying on google translate this entire time, is there a specific chinese term sellers use in their listing stating that their pcs are official? and is there any other way i can check that the pcs listed are official?

also, where do i find the reviews of sellers and are there telltale signs on their profile that they’re not the original seller?

fancall polaroids?

i’m thinking of buying from pocamarket for the sale and i’ve been seeing the yizihiu winner polaroids with what seems to be a signature on them. however, it’s not like there’s only one in stock and there’s like 20 past purchases. are these polaroids actual polaroids with actual signatures that the fancall winners receive or are they mass produced polaroid form photocards? they’re only $20-30 so it’d be suspiciously cheap if they were one of a kind polaroids so i’d appreciate explanations thanks!

has anyone bought from pocamarket’s used (seller shop)?

hi! i recently bought a jihyo broadcast photocard off the pocamarket seller shop. it was about $100 and i took the deal since its hard to find anywhere else for that price.

my concern is that it’s already been 5 days since i placed the order, and theres no way to contact the seller through the website. will an automatic refund be issued if my item hasnt been shipped out after a specific timeframe?

Stuck with 3 boxes of K-pop albums

Hi all. I've curated my collection down to my ults, but I'm left with three big boxes of mixed K-pop albums (some signed, some first press) that I just want gone.

Any recommendations on what to do after trying everything?

(Apologies for the messy background in any photos – I'm in a rush and currently fixing up my house!)

checking seller credibility on xianyu

hi !! so i’ve been wanting to buy some pc sets (like fancall, pob, etc) off of xianyu, since i figured they’d be cheaper on there from people buying bulk to enter fancall/fansigns. however, i’m still uncertain and scared about getting fake pcs from sellers. there is this one seller i was looking at as they sell many pc sets of various groups that i stan so i wanted to buy a few sets from them, but is there any way to know or any key signs to look out for? the seller has a 99% rating and i noticed only 3 negative reviews in contrast to about 2000 good reviews - is this a good or bad thing?

the 3 negative reviews were about the pc being a fake, and the seller seemed to reply to the comments arguing back about the buyer being unresponsive etc (?) not quite sure as i put this directly into google translate

if anyone could help me figure this out that would be greatly appreciated since one of the sets have one of my highest prio iso pcs at a reasonable price so i’d really like to find out if it’s true 😭🙏

Collection arrangement

Hello guys! I started collecting on December, this is how I’m going, I mainly collect, twice, new jeans and I started with babymonster as well, those are my favorite groups, then the others are groups I like but not as much as the first 2 shelves.

Anyway, I’d like to ask you all for advice on how to arrange my collection. I’ve seen many pictures here, and they all look fantastic. I feel that mine looks random, haha.

I have no idea where to get albums

I've been collecting for a while. I het my photocards on instagram and albums on joom. This platform is overpaying stuff and I don't want to lose money like this. I live in Moldova (it's in Europe), so I would like to ask if you know where I can order albums without overpaying for my delivery

Is this binder safe for pcs?

Got this mini binder at Goodwill today but im un sure if its safe for storing my pcs in the long run. To what i’ve heard it seems fine but it does have a plastic-y smell which worries me and is why im here asking.

Signed pcs - display or binder?

I had the incredible chance opportunity of meeting an idol recently! I was able to get a photocard signed, but it is signed on BOTH sides of the card. Because its so personal to me, what is the best way I can protect it? I don’t want the ink to rub or fade on either side. It is currently in a sleeve in a toploader displayed on my shelf. What do you do with signed cards?

Weekly Photocard Verification Thread

Post in this thread to get help with your purchases! Please include pictures of the front and back of the card, as well as what album/merch it's from. If it's a POB, include the store that it came from (Apple Music/Makestar/Ktown4u etc). You can skip this information if you don't know where the card is from, but it will make it a lot easier for me/others to search for the card. It also helps to include where you bought from/where you will be buying from to determine if the card is legit.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Cards with a general value of $10 or under are unlikely to be fake.
  • Cards from albums that are still in print are unlikely to be fake. Difference in card thickness/tab location/finish doesn't always mean a card is fake, because different manufacturers can be used every reprint.
  • Some groups use the same picture in different ways for multiple pre-order benefits, so it being cropped doesn't necessarily mean it's fake. Dreamcatcher used to do this and I believe all SM groups do this for their Season's Greetings pre-order benefits.
  • First round preorder benefits from KTOWN4U and MAKESTAR for popular groups are less likely to be fake, especially if the general value is under $10.
  • Albums with promo stickers are less likely to be fake, though do keep in mind that some idols have their managers sign the albums for them (this is common for SM groups if I recall correctly).
  • Artists signatures generally evolve throughout the years, just because it doesn't look the same as a near debut signature doesn't mean it's fake.

Scams to look out for:

Mercari Japan has had a big upswing of fake rare cards. Thankfully, they don't put much effort into making their listings look 'legit' so it's pretty obvious if you don't just impulse buy. Here is an example. Only 7 sales (at time of writing), rare cards from every big group, and the card quality looks terrible.

Signed cards weren't always common. Some groups like Twice did not sign cards at all really before recent site specific pre-order benefits and lucky draws. Here is an example of a fake signed card. If you click through to their profile you can see they somehow managed to find 100s of these signed cards "from other websites" and once again, they are all from the most popular groups.

These random signed stage photos with a "Hollywood Style Inc Certificate of Authenticity". I can't confirm that all signed stage photos are fake, but legit ones are rare enough that I would be extra wary when buying.

If the album is signed by more than one member, check if the pen pressure looks the same on each signature.

Resources to help you verify:

Youtube - You can look up unboxing videos of other's fansign albums to see preorder benefits and member signatures.

Instagram - Same thing as above. A lot of people post pictures/clips of their preorder benefits and fansign albums. Collection photos often show off these as well. There are also some accounts that have guides on member signatures.

Twitter - There are accounts that scan photocards which could help you verify proper level of zoom if you worry a card is cropped etc.

Ebay - Search for past sales for comparison of prices and product photos.

My signal album doesn’t have the JYP logo?

I have recently bought 2 signal album and one(blue) has the jyp, dreamus and flo logo on the side while the other one(pink) doesn’t have it. Is it normal because I’m very confused? Is this considered a factory error or just different printing batch?

Question Regarding the Reliability of Photocard Market Value on Pocamarket

https://preview.redd.it/wyepp3ca51wg1.png?width=634&format=png&auto=webp&s=991cb3711f1bcca4c3aed6539a5eac74e27ff48e

Hi I was wondering whether or not Pocamarket is generally considered an accurate site for gauging the relative price of photocards. It does look quite convincing with the data visualization based on every last sale of a specific photocard, although I still need clarification on whether it is seen as reliable for collectors in the community. Do let me know in the comments :)

is this signature real? BTS MOTS

Was given this by a friend many years back, and was hoping to resell it - does anyone know how i could confirm it was authentic and if so how much it would typically go for? I believe this signature is V’s (Taehyung). Apologies if this post is not allowed.

Sleeve pages from Walmart

Has anyone used these sleeves from Walmart? I really want to start my binder and I was curious if these pages would be okay?

Currently my pcs are in a pencil box case 😂😂 (don’t worry they are sleeved lol and I bought a new case when I started collecting them)
