I’m 19 and thinking about applying to the RCMP, ideally in northern BC (places like Smithers). I don’t have a criminal record, just one minor ticket for having an extra passenger on my N. When I was younger I tried weed at 16 but haven’t touched it since.

Since high school I’ve basically been living on my own half the time because my mom works away, so I’ve been handling getting myself to school/work, keeping the house in order, etc.

I’d say I’m in pretty good shape, I used to race downhill/enduro, ran a sub-50 400m before, can do around 30 push-ups and 10 pull-ups, and I can run a sub-22 minute 5k.

The only thing I’m unsure about is my color vision, I fail the Ishihara plate test but can pass a Farnsworth D-15 test.

Do you guys think I have a decent shot at getting hired right now, or would it be smarter to wait a year and build more experience? Also, how long does the whole application process usually take?

Hey guys, I’m currently in a situation where I’m trying to become a police officer, I’ve been trying since Highschool, I’ve went to school for a law enforcement diploma and have spent the past year volunteering, I’ve never done drugs or punched anyone or anything, I’ve only got a ticket for not displaying my N on my car, however, when I was 18 I recorded my girlfriend without her permission whilst we were in my bed being intimate, I’ve realized now that it was due to a very bad porn addiction as I had a serious problem, I’ve been clean for about 3 years now and I absolutely regret what I did, me and my girlfriend have worked thru it and we’re still together but I’m gonna have to disclose this incident when I try becoming a police officer in Canada, and I’m scared I’m either gonna get disqualified right away or their gonna convict me then and there, I’m just really stressed as I’ve not had anything else in my life planned except for policing and because I was so stupid and disgusting I might not be able to do that. Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you!

Passed the suitability, psych, and medical. But got an email stating I have a security interview. Has anybody experienced this?
