Runnin by the pharcyde is my all time favorite instrumental by far I been a fan of dilla for a while but mostly a casual I was wondering are there other dilla tracks out there with the same fell runnin has ? I know the sample is very unique Brazilian track.
I would want to make a beat that sums up J Dilla's sound and I need y'all to give me the samples he uses the most. For example, "King of the Beats" by Mantronix, "The Look Of Love" by various artists, "Space Intro/Flying Like An Eagle" by Steve Miller Band, lots of Isao Tomita, Gentle Giant and Vangelis, etc. I also need drum break suggestions.
Getting the physical game up 🔥💯
Hi, on the evening that J Dilla passed away (February 10, 2006), Detroit's WJLB radio aired a one-hour special hosted by MC Serch who had a morning show on the station. I think he had a co-host too. It was a somber broadcast - probably hastily put together - and included brief interviews with Questlove, Common, and Proof, among others. I used to have an mp3 of it as I had recorded it off of the station's online livestream. Does anyone else remember this broadcast? And if so, do you have a copy? Thanks in advance.
I found this version in a Toronto record Shop. It is the 2015 UK press / Clear vinyl. Is it a collectible release? Seems hard to find a lot of information on this release.
Knew I had these somewhere. Thought I'd share! Sorry the pics are kinda shittay. Sun night, my Friday, 5 beers. Jaylib is OG, open still in shrink. The VMP copy is sealed w the donut print insert/obi outside
I've recently came across that song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOH8dK9k1Vo and I think I've already heard it on one of Dilla's beats, can someone help?
guess i'm not selling this anymore :)
crappy phone died on the immacolate "reverb flange" preset.
Anyone still using one of these?
I am actually talking about the synth too (very uncommon and unlucky synth, i love it to bits) but mostly about old rack fx uniti like this yamaha spx990. I had it sitting there from a theatre that didnt use it anymore, and in this economy i was planning on selling it, so i proceded to reset it to factory patches and went for a ride. I think its beautiful.
Then i saw a video about jdilla, referencing an article on reverb on his techniques: apparently he was a big fan of the "symphonic" algorithm on the spx900, i have it also on the 990, but its not showcased in this video. I used it on guitar on a track for my main project, sampled on octatrack, octave down, sounds very nice.
I am impressed by the last patch, the "reverb flange" sounds super modern, those kind of abstract soul trippy trap tronics.
And WHY IS NOBODY USING THE MONOSTATION?
ok peace
