"Mountains of the Moon" was one of the songs the Grateful Dead played when they were on Playboy After Dark in January of 1969 - long before 💥🚀Apollo 11's lunar landing (7/24/69)

🤪🤡✌️ Grateful Dead's history of dosing people with acid on the Playboy After Dark set - In Rock Skully's book he said everyone on the Playboy After Dark set got dosed except Hefner. He said Hefner only drank Pepsi on set, and that his Pepsis were kept under close guard to keep them from being dosed. Kreutzmann claimed however ( on late night talk shows) the Hefner also got dosed that night.

Disco Biscuits and Consider the Source new band!!! What?!?!?!

I don’t know if this has been like announced or how i missed it but this is insane! CTS is my fav jamband, he’s my favorite guitarist in the scene and I found them seeing them open for the Biscuits!!! This is too crazy. I saw this band with the previous drummer and it blew my mind. This is too exciting for me, I think this band is going to be amazing. Let’s hope the scene can support some more heavy and imaginative stuff!!! Go see these, I wish I could.

Detroit lightning

I finally met a friend in the state I moved to about a month ago selling my TV. He’s into jam bands too. He loves STS9 and I just recently started seeing them.

Now if you know me my first love is phish. I’m kind of a phish brat. It’s really hard get music that moves me quite like phish does. But when I saw STS9 I had to find a little room in my heart for them.

I was not really excited to see a dead cover band but I wanted to see my new friend. I started out this journey with the dead so I cannot deny my roots. And I don’t say this a lot but Detroit Lightning was pretty fucking good. It was super uptempo and they put some funk on those jams. I really was impressed.

I believe that the dead will never die because people just love them and I think cover bands will go on forever!! If u get the chance to see Detroit Lightning, DO IT. You will not be disappointed!! I certainly wasn’t. And that means a lot coming from me!!!

Love you all♥️⭕️♥️⭕️♥️⭕️

Weird Phishes (Radiohead in the style of Phish) at Brooklyn Bowl next week

We are STOKED to bring Weird Phishes back to Brooklyn Bowl next Friday, May 29th.

Weird Phishes does Radiohead in the style of Phish, but also mashes the two bands up and jams the whole thing out. No arrangement is the same as the original bands, which we think makes for a really fun experience.

This is our second time playing BkBowl and we can't wait. We'll be joined by our friends in Owls By Day - if anyone was at BkBowl last time, they played before us (and tore the roof off) at that show too!

Getting tickets in advance really helps bands too, which you can do right here.

Here's a recent performance of our High & Dry / Chalk Dust Torture mashup.

How would you run your jam band themed radio show?

I have the potential to pitch and run my own weekly one hour jam band radio show.

I have a few thoughts but curious what you all would like to get out of something like this.

One rule: no Grateful Dead…

Idea one: long form live jams. Just one or 2 songs/transitions per show. Example: 35 minute phish jam followed by a 20 minute cheese jam.

Idea two: exploring one band per show and their history. Example: widespread panic studio recordings from the 80s to present day.

Idea three: focusing on the newer bands on the scene

Idea four: big farting in the microphone (leaning towards this)

RIP Ike Willis

This needs its own topic.

A huge voice in the world of Frank Zappa is gone. It's a sad day. It's also a good day throw on Joe's Garage and hear "Joe" belt it out.

RIP Ike. Thank you for keeping Frank's music alive all these years.

I Know You Rider -> Midnight Rider

I heard JRAD tease Midnight Rider in the middle of a I Know You Rider jam, and it just felt so right. I was just curious if anyone out there knows if any band has done this. Thanks!
