Paid 7000TRY for this beautiful (IMO) small carpet. Did I get ripped off?

Paid 7000TRY for this beautiful (IMO) small carpet. Did I get ripped off?

I’m a tourist and just curious how much I got ripped off by? If at all? I bought it in grand bazaar. It’s a small carpet roughly 70x50cm. I still like it and will keep it of course I will hang it on my wall probs. The material feels high quality to me but I don’t know shit about carpets lol.

Istanbul: vale la pena visitarla?

Ciao,

Grazie mille!!

Anyone able to visit a Flying Tiger in Istanbul and check inventory for me?

Hi there! I'm on the hunt for this snail mug I saw at Flying Tiger : https://www.flyingtiger.com.tr/en/products/salyangoz-seklinde-mavi-seramik-kupa?srsltid=AfmBOoqFJg4oA4VSCt8EMg7-XRAFiC0vbuQqry2R3do-nKU9xwAItwLc

It exists only on the Turkish website but unfortunately it is out of stock online. So I was wondering if it is available in their local stores in Istanbul. I'd be grateful if anyone has any information to offer on this!

Naturally I would be delighted if someone could grab it for me and I could pay you back and a fee for your time.

Thank you so much!

Edit: eventual shipping to France if possible! Thanks for your kindness

Yavru kedi sahiplenmek isteyen yazsin…

Oncelikle sikayetime sokak hayvanlarinin kisirlastirilmasinin tamamen belediyenin gorevi oldugunu hatirlatarak baslamak istiyorum. Yahu bari hamileligini yeni tamamlamis, tekrar kisirlastirma donemine gelmis hayvana oncelik verin. Sanki

ozel sahsi isimize oncelik istiyoruz. Mahallenin, sitesinin, bahcesinin ayni noktasina, ayni cm’sine iki kedi ust uste dogum yapmis. Su ise de bir el atarsin artik. Neyse, kendi cebimizden biz hallederiz.

Sahiplenmek isteyen varsa bana ulassin lutfen.

Tom ford reading glasses LOST

Hello everyone,

I was with my family couple of days ago between Nisantasi and Dolmabahce Sarayi on some very steep stairs. We packed the stroller and the reading glasses fall down from the buggy.

In case someone will find them, I would be very thankful in case anybody finds them to give me some heads up. I would be generous in exchange. Thanks all!

Where can I find electrolyte drinks similar to Gatorade?

Currently in Istanbul with my 11 month old son. I caught some sort of flu like virus and have a lot of body aches, nausea and dehydration along with fever. Managing symptoms with medicine but I really need something similar to Gatorade. I lucked out and found some ginger ale for my nausea which helps tremendously but I really need to boost up my electrolytes.. any suggestions? Can be anywhere in Istanbul but preferably European side so I don’t need to travel too much. Also I’m having a hard time ordering through the delivery apps bc I don’t have a Turkish #.. anyone know how I can get around that?

I really want to see the Istanbul Lale Festivali, but I can't find any recent updates about the current one. Most older articles say it lasts only until April 30th, but I imagine there's some changes every year due to the weather? We'll be in Istanbul May 1st-7th, and we'll try to go to Emirgan Park ASAP. Do you think we'll still see it?

Is Vodafone eSIM good for Turkey?

Hello,

I will be visiting Istanbul for 2 months. I used Airalo last year, and was happy. I know Airalo and several other eSIMs are now blocked in Turkey. I understand you can still use them by activating it before arriving etc. But I may need to buy more data which may require VPN to access the app.

I was wondering how good Vodafone esim? I think Vodafone is not blocked (but their packages are more expensive). I was wondering if anyone uses Vodafone esim in Turkey and whether is was good?

(I am a Turkish citizen. I don't want to buy Turkcell etc, because I don't live in Turkey and only visiting my parents for summer)

Between Europe and Asia | Istanbul

Taking the ferry across the city was one of the most pleasant and immersive experiences I've had in Istanbul, so I tried to snap some pictures to hold onto the memory.

Thank you to everyone who recently helped me with ferry tips.

Smaller historic hotels

Husband and I travelling to Istanbul in August. We are both history nerds and want to stay near the usual tourist sites (the Topkapi is my goal, Blue Mosque is his), but we prefer smaller hotels with an historic feel.

-Prefer under $200 US a night.

-Elevator not necessary but good to know.

-breakfast included is preferred.

Any recs?

The Architects Istanbul Forgot: The Balyan Family and Ottoman Architecture

While conducting work-related research, we were struck by the near-omnipresence of the Balyans’ architectural “touch of Midas” across Istanbul.

They built the visual language of an empire; their names, more often than not, were left out of the narrative.

This research article draws on a wide body of scholarship to examine both their architectural legacy and the mechanisms of their erasure. Read it here: https://www.h-pem.com/en/analysis/2026/04/19/the-architects-istanbul-forgot-the-balyan-family-and-ottoman-architecture/34/
