Male iggy color change

I have this male iggy, he’s turning 4yo this coming June. When i first had him he was originally a green iguana, then some time last year around November, I noticed the color on his belly started to lighten up then it became a bit orange and now there’s almost no green left except those below the spikes. This should be normal right? It doesnt have anything to do with the temperature..?

I changed the bedding in his cage into those large pebbles just to dissipate the heat. Before it was that sort of wooden chips i got from our local pet store.

reposting to see if anyone knows anything!

an iguana has been in my front yard for about a week, moves a few feet every day. mostly brown/tan, (sometimes a bit more green like in these photos) quite thin, and lethargic. no visible injuries. except i’m not sure if it’s front arms are supposed to be folded over all the time like they are in these photos? looked up things they can eat and left stuff out for it but it won’t eat anything.

the first couple days it was out basking in the sun and much more feisty (tried to tail whip me when i brought it food!😂) so i figured it was just a little hungry or found a good sunning spot and left it alone with some greens.

now it spends most of its time hiding in a bush. at first i thought it was because it was rainy, but it’s very hot and sunny now and it’s still in the bush most of the time. won’t eat. looks thinner. still feisty at times so i try not to bother it too much because i figure that’s a good sign. but usually when i check on it, it just kind of cocks its head.

what can i do??!! ANY advice is appreciated!
i live in miami where iguanas are considered an invasive species so i dont think i can call any animal services to help. everything i find online is pest control :( is there anyone i can call that wont euthanize her, or anything i can do to help????

Looking for owner experiences with Fiji iguanas, rock iguanas, banana pectinata iguanas, and other iguana species

Hi everyone,

I’m currently researching different iguana species and would really appreciate hearing from people who actually keep them. for context, i live in sweden.

To be clear, I’m not rushing to buy anything. I’m mainly asking for educational purposes at this stage. I have the space and budget to plan properly, but I’m also completely fine with waiting. Realistically, I would only consider getting an iguana once I move into a bigger house and can prepare an appropriate enclosure well in advance (doing this in about 1-2 years from now).

In terms of experience, my wife has cared for a bearded dragon before, and her family had a green iguana when she was younger, although she did not handle it much. That is about the extent of our reptile experience. I understand iguanas are a serious commitment, so I’m trying to learn as much as possible before making any decision.

I’m especially interested in hearing about day-to-day life with:

  • Fiji iguanas
  • Different types of rock iguanas
  • Banana pectinata iguanas
  • Other iguana species you would recommend

Some things I’m curious about:

  • What is your daily/weekly routine like?
  • Roughly how much do they cost per month?
  • How fast did yours grow?
  • How handleable are they?
  • Are they social or more for display?
  • Do they enjoy chilling near you or interacting with you?
  • How large is your enclosure?
  • Do you keep them alone, in pairs, or in groups?
  • If cohabited, what has your experience been like?
  • What do you wish you knew before getting one?
  • Do you regret getting one? if so, why?

I’m not looking for the “easiest” answer or trying to rush into ownership. I just want realistic experiences from keepers so I can understand what these animals are actually like longterm.

Thanks in advance for any advice or personal experiences.

STOP SELLING ANIMALS TO THIS WOMAN!!! LOCATED IN LAS VEGAS

MonicaSpiritQueen or MonicaLawson is a wannabe tiktok/youtuber who gained notoriety by the way she treats people and abuses the animals in her care. She claims that the animals are rescues but when you take a look at the conditions these animals are in they’re put in a much worse situation from improper enclosures to untreated infections & diseases. Take a look at her tiktok, she deletes any comments that suggest what she’s doing is wrong and cannot handle given advice without cussing out the people trying to help. Someone needs to get these animals out of her home and STOP SELLING THEM TO HER!!! These are only a few screenshots I was able to find on her pages before I got physically sick but there is sooo much more!! Just do a deep dive on her youtube channel and tiktok. Repercussions need to start taking place because this woman is just a BULLY AND ABUSER.

Rescued this baby!

This poor gal was at my local pet store and they kept putting orange ones in her enclosure for months to the point she wasn’t eating and just wasting away.

The staff was kind enough to fake a “death” and give her to me. Started off at 73 grams about 4 days ago and now at 81 grams.

Got her some Critical Care: Herbivore, a vet check for MBD and fluids, some electrolyte soaks and now getting some tail whips!

If you guys have any tips let me know, I have a bunch of reptiles (from tree monitors to frilled lizards) but never had an herbivore.

Oh and she is eating her greens now too!

Feeding aggression

I don't know if he likes his food too much or what

But the moment I open the terrarium to feed him, he attacks the bowl. He takes a huge mouthful, whipping his tail everywhere around shaking his head until stuff from his mouth flies all around, sometimes he goes for my fingers, sometimes he grabs the bowl itself and tries to throw it. He did it with his ceramic bowl, I was worried for his mouth. I started portioning it on a small plastic tray as visible in the photo, or he'll trash the food and leave the rest after the first bite

Sometimes I wonder if he forgot he's a herbivore

It can't be healthy to eat in such haste...

So, I do still have the iguana (Previously posts) and I noticed this while I was taking him to soak for a little bit in the tub and im wondering if they're clogged? The vet never mentioned it when I took him last time so I didnt know, if they are clogged how should I deal with it? Gonna take him in again but wanted to know if there was anything I could do for now?
