Synthesized voice alert hidden in the book blurb so you might miss it.

I was looking for good mysteries in Hoopla and came across Joan Livingston's book, Chasing the Case. First part of the blurb sounds good. I scan down to look at narrator and there's a name there but only a first name, Mia. I click on the see more for more info on the book and the next paragraph says "This audiobook is narrated using advanced digital voice technology for clear, natural-sounding storytelling. "

For 30 seconds at a time it may sound natural and then it's like the narrator is in the dark struggling to see each word then hurries to make up for lost time. Before a minute into the book you know there's something wrong. It's regular speed, then. stilted. speed. for. each. wordifyoucan see what I mean. I'm glad I didn't pay for this book but I did waste a 'borrow'. Just wanted to warn you that they're really trying hard to push AI narration down our throats. This looks like a regularly published book by Bloodhound Books. There's no indicators like Audible or Apple where it could be Virtual Voice or synthesized person's name. Good luck finding good audiobooks with real live narrators out there.

Having trouble with Landscape mode for Hoopla

How do you get the landscape mode to be like kindles? Like scrolling down through the pages. I find hooplas to just shrink the singular page and the words are a little blurry. I love the selection of hoopla but it hurts my eyes with how small the text are and how blurry.

Did an update now my audiobooks won't play. Help?

I opened hoopla to resume my book and it told me there was an update for the app. Okay fine, I click update and install. 30 seconds later its done and I go to play my audiobook and it wont play. I go to play another in my library, same thing. "Something went wrong, please try again later." It was working just fine yesterday, I haven't used the app since last night. Ive done all the things - uninstalled & reinstalled. Restarted my phone and did a hard turn off & on. Cleared the app cache. It wont play any of my audiobooks and my library's borrow limit is gone super early everyday so I can't borrow something new to see if it would work until tomorrow. Any thoughts, tips would be appreciated. I have a book returning on friday that im 41% done with and id like to finish it without having to borrow it again

Can't Get Past Review of Terms and Conditions Popup

Went to veg out on Hoopla and got blocked by a popup that said I had to agree to updated terms and conditions. Sure. Except I can't. I scroll through the entire thing, only to find no "I Agree" button ANYWHERE. I click the grey button that says, "Review this document before continuing." Nothing. I clear cache. Nope. I disable adblocker. Nope. Is the button buried somewhere deep in the text?

ETA: Found it. Turns out it hated my screen resolution.

Different titles in different libraries ?

Hi I always thought that Hoopla had the same list of titles regardless of what library you’re a member of, but I just became a member at a new library and they have virtually nothing on Libby but a ton of great options on Hoopla, which is the opposite of my main one… is this normal?

"Borrow limit?"

I just signed up, haven't borrowed any books, and it says I've hit my borrow limit with my library and it resets at midnight- huh? Is there anything I can do?

Is hoopla like Libby where it matters what library card you have?

My library is small and has a VERY limited selection on Libby so I have an out of state as the card I use. I just realized my local library is what is synced to Hoopla and I can usually find at least something, if not whole series. So doesn’t not matter as much?

Hoopla not responding to reports of pirated repurposed books. They don't care if someone steals and puts it on their platform.

Hoopla doesn't care about blatant theft on their platform.

Just this one fake author has put out multiple AI audiobooks of other people's writing. If you look at the images you can see also where he's he's done this before and didn't even bother changing his AI images for the new name.

Sometimes these same authors are Simply cutting out the beginning of the audiobook And then claiming it's theirs.

It looks like hoopla doesn't care about these stolen books and doesn't seem to reply to reports.

Do movies stream in SD (standard definition) on this platform?

I was excited about all the movies I could watch. But upon starting the first movie I noticed the resolution was low. It did not look like 1080p, but rather more like SD which is 480p. Reminds me of Youtube's "free with ads" movies which also stream in 480p. I guess that's the tradeoff you have to make for a free service such as this.

Alternative to Hoopla?

I've been using it for years now and my library just stopped using it, I know they still have Libby but respectfully, I kind of hate Libby, and the comic series I'm trying to read costs around $150 to buy as physical copies and I don't feel like paying that right now with stuff going on, any advice?
