Summerween recipe experiment was a flop

I tried out a lime ice box cake (cream cheese, gelatin, condensed milk) in a silicone skull mold. The color was nicely spooky. It did not come out of the mold well (probably my fault, I'm new at this) and the flavor was only OK.

I'll need to figure out something else to do in the mold for actual Halloween. This one won't make it in for the May party.

Anyone have success in these large silicone molds? Maybe I should go with basic cake but I wanted to avoid using the oven for the summer.

  3. Halloween (78)

  4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

  5. Hocus Pocus

  6. Trick r' Treat

Opinions on theme for a party?

Every year I throw a big Halloween party that progressively has gotten bigger and more extravagant, thus expectations continue to grow as well! That said this year I have a semi formed vision: 60s psychedelia + undersea. Making my online invite sets a tone and theme that ppl will hopefully understand, so I’m between “Swingin 60s in the Bermuda Triangle” or just “Swingin 60s Underwater”. Bermuda Triangle can be open ended with anything from mermaids to aliens to ghost ship passengers, plus 60s mod (think like Austin powers) mostly for music vs just underwater which is pretty straight forward plus 60s Austin power’s vibe. What would be more exciting and inspiring? Also any ideas for decor would be welcome!

For reference, past themes were:

“Dustbowl Carnival”: literally made a carnival game row in the back yard out of lots of pallets, a fortune teller tent with lounge inside and palm/tarot reader, and tented the ceiling inside the house with red and gold fabric to look like your in the big top.

“Disco in Hades” 70s disco meets mythological pantheons. So inside was decorated like hades with blue flames (shiny fabric + fans + blue upward lighting) tons of disco balls hanging, themed cocktails, and a graveyard with shades and specters made from 11foot tall starched fabric- spray painted in uv paint and black lights, in the backyard. Plus a plethora of very cool god and goddess costumes!

“Eat the Rich” French rococo meets cannibalism, also had a class war feel with fops, dandies, vampires, Marie Antoinette costumes vs vagabond hobos, mutated canibals, and barbarians. Tented the ceiling with red velvet, a huge gold frame with landscape behind it for legacy portrait style photo ops, chandeliers, candelabras, a cocktail fountain that looked like blood, an the back yard was decorated like carnage with heads on spikes, a certain political figure tied to a stake that was later burned, French dice games, and other games like “snakes in the grass” and “empty promises” (Il give details if asked lol).

Help help help!!!!!

Hello spooky friends!

I have a problem I’m hoping you guys can help me with, I accidentally broke my husbands favourite mug that I got him for xmas from tkmaxx, it was a prima designs mug that was white on the outside and orange on the inside with a grim reaper riding a cat on the front, I have been googling for days trying to find a photo of it or one for sale and I can’t find anything 🥲 I can only find ones similar which I will attach to the post, has anyone got one of these mugs that they would be willing to part with? Or know where I can find one? 🤞🏻🙏🏻🩷 I’m located in Australia if that helps xx

After almost a year of work, the Haunted House Management sim I envisioned came to life with great help of an amazing pixel-artist. Exited to reach this milestone!

Hey everyone! This is a WIP of my Haunted House management sim. Right now, I'm nailing down the core systems (cart pathfinding, dynamic lighting, room transitions).

The core gameplay will focus on taking control of your own haunted house dark ride! As a player, you will step into the operator's booth to try and balance wait times, safety, and immersion. As a true tycoon, you should naturally upgrade your ride, and try stay in business until the grand Halloween finale.

As a big fan of the genre, I’d love to hear what features you think are absolutely essential for a dark-ride focused tycoon!

Experimenting with a recipe for summerween

Here's my first attempt at "monkey brains"

They were pretty good, but I want to tweak the recipe to be firmer texture and lighter in color. Has anyone done these before?

The recipe I used was 3oz strawberry jello, 1 1/2 cups water, and 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk. Each brain mold is 1/2 cup liquid.

I definitely prefer the milk addition to straight jello in both taste and texture.
