Pixie or Bixie on me?

Planning on getting my first quick weave so I don't straighten my hair. I just cut it for the second time last October and it’s now in the awkward stage. I wanna keep short hair look for the summer. It’ll be removable so I can still wash and moisturize under. Which would suit me but most importantly which is easier?!

how do we choose cute styles that don’t ruin our hair??

the more i learn about “protective styles” the less i believe i’ll find something conventionally acceptable and cute to wear that won’t absolutely annihilate my (fine, medium density, type 4) hair strands. i spent over a year getting feed-in/knotless braids, faux locs, and doing mini twists (all styles i LOVED) back to back and thinking my hair was gonna grow so much only for half my head to fall out every time i did a take down. then i did wash and go’s bc i thought if i’m wearing only my hair it’ll be fine and much healthier than having added hair. my hair was still chewed up and out from constant manipulation and exposure to the elements. i’ve discovered half wigs and i’m hoping this will be my cure and answer to finally growing my hair past my shoulders.

but how do you all actually protect your hair? and keep it cute? if you have longer hair, what helped you grow it out and keep it healthy? i’m becoming convinced theres no way to have it all when it comes to black hair, especially if you have fine hair strands.
