UPDATE! Thank you, everyone. We solved the issue. We opened it up to look at the pellet auger more closely and make sure it was not jammed. Turns out a wire came loose from the motherboard. Apparently, that was what regulated the heat. Put it all together again, and it worked like a charm!

Hi everyone,

We recently bought a new Trek Prime 2.0 pellet smoker and are completely new to pellet smokers. Unfortunately, we’ve been having a really frustrating issue and are hoping someone might have some insight.

After priming it, the grill has never gotten past about 150°F, and then the temperature starts to drop. Each time we try again, it seems to get worse instead of better.

Here’s what we’ve already checked/tried:

  • Cleaned everything out and confirmed we’re using the correct pellets
  • Verified the fan and auger are both working
  • Made sure the grease shield isn’t too close to the temperature gauge
  • Confirmed the heat shield is positioned correctly
  • Updated the app

At this point, we’re feeling pretty discouraged and not sure what else to try. If anyone has experienced something similar or has suggestions, we would really appreciate the help.

I have a Daniel Boone and the auger motor stopped working so I bought a replacement. It came with the “t pin” separate and I am at a loss as to how to get it to stay in the hole. I’ve tried to screw it in but there are no threads in the hole. Am I supposed to bang it in with a hammer? Does anyone know how to do this? Of course I’ve gotten zero help from gmg on their website.

It just wouldn't start. Not blocked, all connections look perfect. Tried to downgrade/upgrade firmware, no difference. Is there a good way to check if its actually fan or smth else

Just put my Peak 2.0 together and have no idea what this is for. Nothing in the setup directions referenced it and, as far as I can tell, there's nowhere it logically fits on the grill.

Any ideas? I feel like I'm losing my mind here

Hello, I am running into an issue where the grill will start a high pitch tone and continue u til I unplug it. But I can’t turn it off with food on the grill. Any ideas where to start trouble shooting? Thanks.

Help with auger issues and trouble shooting

Hey there! I inherited this Daniel Boone Green Mountain grill from my dad about 6 years ago when I bought my house. I’m guessing it’s at the very least 10 years old but just had some auger issues and was looking for help with how to trouble shoot next.

The issues started when my pellet starter went out, so I replaced it. However now when I fire it up the auger stops running when it hits 3 and I hear the fan kick on to get the pellets going. However after that the auger never starts feeding the pellets into the pot again since the initial start. I’m starting to wonder if it is a wiring issue but have no idea what to check next. I did empty out the hopper (by hand since I don’t have the nifty slot to dump it out) to make sure there were no jams and even watched the auger turning.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated because I’m out in the middle of nowhere and would rather not have to load the thing up and drive 1.5 hours to take it to a shop to be worked on.
