George Brown Nursing - Insight? Advice?

Hi all!

I received an offer for George Brown’s new BScN (Honours) program at the Waterfront location. This will be my second degree as I pivot out of a non-science/healthcare-related career. I’ll be relocating from Ottawa and I last attended school full-time in 2019.

I know the learning material is fairly standard across most, if not, all nursing programs. But since GB’s BScN program is new and I will be entering its first cohort… I’m hoping to get some insight from those who have attended the school for either Practical Nursing or their previous collaborative program that was with TMU.

What was your experience with clinical placements? Did you feel supported by the school and teachers? What stood out about the school’s facilities? What were some drawbacks/improvements needed?

Also if anyone else has insight about the program/school itself or even general advice for starting a nursing program, I’m open to reading your responses!

St james library so bad

The rules are a joke no one actually follows them. People eating spaghetti, taking phone calls, have their laptops on max volume, and being loud af. Finals week and people are just in the cubical area fucking around. Study anywhere but in the library.

Emailing admissions and its an AI responding!!!

It says if the ai makes 2 mistakes, it will send me to a real person, so do I reply to that email and say it didn't answer my question?? Has anyone else had this problem?

Will I fail COMMS?

The semester flew so fast and I just noticed just now that the COMMS need 50% every module to pass but my first module was at around 42%. I already emailed my professor about it and she said she’ll get back to me. Will they reconsider my grade since my average for the other modules are at above 80% or I will have to wait for their answer if I can resubmit my module 1 and have them grade it again? OML THIS IS STRESSING ME OUT

early childhood education

i am currently in grade 12 and waiting for acceptance into the C100 program. i originally wanted to take the C118 program, but since i was already taking grade 12 college english, i decided not to switch. the programs are similar anyways and the C100 program is only two years long. even though i cannot transfer to tmu in my third year, i can still transfer if I keep up a good gpa. i was wondering, if I do get accepted, what is early childhood education program at george brown like? is it easy to make friends? i really want to make friends in college because i did not have many in high school. i am also not sure how well i will do, but I want to become a kindergarten teacher in the future. i know teachers are not paid well but i still want to try to become one in the future as i like working with kids. if anyone has taken the program or is currently in it, please let me know!

question about program delivery

hello everyone!! i applied to gbc for the asl and deaf studies program and am really excited as asl has been something i’ve been really passionate about learning this past semester. however, i’m a little confused on whether or not the program is fully online or not. on the website, it says that it’s location is online but when you scroll down it says “semester 1: online” and now i’m just a little confused. is only the first semester online? does the website just update it every semester or something? is it just a clarification thing? i don’t really care if it’s fully online or not because i applied to the program knowing full well (and with the expectation) that it would be fully online for both semesters, but i was also a little bummed out since i wouldn’t be able to visit the campus at all for an entire year 😭😭 i just don’t want any false hope about being able to visit the school at all next school year. what do you guys think? 🤔🤔 sorry if this sounds a little stupid lol
