Well, I joined this group because I don’t have a game gear and I really want one. But man they are hard to find where I live.

Missing Background Elements

UPDATE: It works perfectly in the Retron5. I have no idea why.

My copy of Double Dragon was pretty dirty inside. I gave it a good scrub and cleaned the pins but I noticed it had missing background elements in-game. I cleaned it some more and then added flux and solder and reflowed the chip. No improvement at all. I then did a continuity check and all pins beeped out correctly.

What ya'll think? Faulty chip?

Summary:

Cleaned with IPA twice

Reflowed chip

Continuity on pins and chip tested good

No background elements in game.

Am I the only person that noticed?

This is George Michael. Literally. He looks badass here.

My look back at all the Earthworm Jim games, sequels, ports and unreleased games. I loved the first 2 games. Great gameplay, animation, music and not to mention the humour. It was like playing in TV cartoon. Although I have to say the series did take a drop in standard with Earthworm Jim 3D and that gameboy game.
Please share your thought and memories of these games.

Hello everyone, this game gear was given to me by a family member. I have no games to test it yet. I know it's in rough shape, but should the screen look like this? Can this game gear be saved? Looking for any insight, thank you!

I just did a full recap and did the BennVenn HD IPS screen for this game gear. Turns on, picture is fine and sound works. The wheel to adjust the brightness doesn’t work and holding start and going up on the d pad doesn’t change image size. Not sure what I’m missing. Any help would be appreciated!

Opinions of the best of these 2 games for a young kid?

Edit: Three(3) games

*Note: the little one is 7-ish, but for personal reasons she isn't very good at reading/identifying letters/numbers yet.

**But due to her age, she is an AMAZING video game player! She's beaten most Mario games on our Wii U all by herself!!!

***She does, however, find all of the standard Sonic Game Gear games really boring. She only likes Sonic on Genesis.

For an upcoming road trip, I have the choice between:

- Tails' Adventure (I have never played)

I'm concerned about the need to type in a passcode each time she needs to start over to resume her progress... That can get tiring for a parent to support.

- Home Alone (I played a ton as a kid)

I'm concerned about her figuring out how to combine all the items to make weapons without being able to read their labels.

  • I REALLY wish I could get Tails Sky Patrol, but it's so expensive right now. But would it be most worth it??

I feel both games will give her the complexity she so badly needs from games now, but the literacy may pose trouble?

Tails' Skypatrol US box art/cover spread

Mockup of what a US release would've looked like, think it turned out pretty well. Used the screenshots and barcode from the JP box and found a full cover art photo without any text.

Hey everyone,

I recently got a Razer Viper V4 Pro and noticed something that’s bothering me.

There’s a creaking / flexing sound coming from the front shell (near the main buttons). It happens under normal use. I don’t need to squeeze hard, just light pressure.

So I’m trying to figure out:

Is this considered normal for the Viper V4 Pro?

Or is this likely a QC build defect and I should return it.

Mouse is still new, no drops or damage and the issue was noticeable pretty early

Would really appreciate hearing from other V4 Pro owners 🙏

I have a Game Gear that I repaired recently with a power board replacement, and a week later, it stopped working again. When you turn it on with a game cartridge inserted, it just shows a scrambled mess or a solid color that glitches out into black. I opened it up, found some capacitor acid, and cleaned up the front and the back of the board of any acid using isopropyl. It is also recapped. Is it a cartridge slot problem? What can i do to save it? I have a VA5 Game Gear. Most of the time it shows a corrupted license screen that goes nowhere.

I was recently gifted around 25 Game Gear systems from a friend who decided repairing them was more work than they wanted to deal with. I’ve already put a lot of time into restoring them and have had pretty great results so far.

I’m trying to figure out what’s best for the systems in the long run: should I leave an original screen in place if it has a few unobtrusive dead pixels, or replace it with an aftermarket screen? My main concern is retained value and doing the best I can for the consoles while still keeping the spirit of the original hardware alive.

I know modded systems are a bit of a taboo for some collectors, so I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who know the market. In your opinion, is minor screen damage usually worth tolerating to preserve originality, or does a clean aftermarket replacement make more sense even if it brings the value down a bit?

So, basically, I got a variety of games with it. I was kinda hoping for Sonic 1, but apparently the collection I ordered just had Sonic 2. Will that make much of a difference? I’ve played Sonic Mania on the Switch, so I’m familiar with it.
