Are We in that much of a Hurry?!

So, we were coming home from Mother’s Day lunch in Central Park. We’re right in front of Target and stop for 2 adult and a bunch of baby geese. Took less than a minute.

They cross to the other side and nobody wants to stop, especially yahoo in the vehicle as he swerves at high speed to my left to avoid them, almost taking out an adult and 2 babies. Words can’t describe my hatred for you and I hope this doesn’t get me banned.

There is literally no where to socialize here at all. I hate this town but no matter how hard i try i cant make friends here and theres no where ti actually meet people at all. I hate my life here and id rather be dead then spend another day in this isolating hell of a area.

Whole coffee beans?

Anybody know a local business that sells whole coffee beans? I normally go to Costco but considering canceling my membership. Would love to support a local business, maybe downtown area?

Things to do with a toddler(1.5years)?

Hey everyone. I’ve noticed that I’ve been stuck in a cycle for the past two years that just is not making me happy. Just as a background, (over 2 years ago) I used to be on some junkie shit. Never home, always around people I should’ve never met, never sober, middlemanning (mostly) illegal stuff to make a living and pay my bills. That was all until I had my son. Then my eyes opened a bit, and I kicked all of my bad habits after a ton of trial and error, and something that left with those habits was EVERYTHING I used to do to stay occupied and keep myself entertained. All of my hobbies, and “friends”. Honestly I’d pass my time by being intoxicated. I don’t enjoy hanging out with my friends who sobered up around when I did, all they want to do is talk about their recovery. It isn’t like that with me… it’s the past… I’m not proud of it so I leave it behind. I just want to preface that I never plan on going back to that lifestyle, in case you guys think I’m like glorifying it or something. It was hell, and isn’t worth it. I’d rather be bored all the time and be a good father than be dead by 35. But basically, I lost all of my hangout spots, friends, and honestly lost the adrenaline that would come by doing illegal things. I think that’s a key reason that I feel so bored all the time nowadays. For the past couple of years I have been in a cycle. Work, come home, watch my son, put him to sleep. I typically sleep when he sleeps because I have to be up at 3am for work. (I watch him during 95% my free time when I’m off work, because my wife works too.) So that’s a little background, I just feel empty. What can I do that is child friendly? I’m free during most normal business hours. I need ideas! Hobbies, businesses, anything to do that you guys can think of to use some of our time. The highlight of my days now are when I can go to Walmart or something twice a week… I feel like that’s just sad. Although I’m doing everything right by society’s standards, I just feel like something is missing. Any input or advice is appreciated. Additional questions are also welcome. Thanks fellow redditors! :)

Thought this was funny this morning. Not just a police car parking where they shouldn’t, but the parking police parking where they shouldn’t.

8:50 AM at the corner of Littlepage and William. Empty when I walked by and then had two uniformed officers in it at 9:05 as I walked back.

If you’ve been putting yourself last… this is for you

Anyone else feel like life gets so busy you end up on the back burner?
Cause same... lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to pour into everyone else — kids, work, schedules, responsibilities — and forget that taking care of yourself matters too.

SO just a reminder — you don’t need to change everything overnight.

Sometimes it’s the small things:
moving your body, drinking your water, starting again, finding yourself again.

Real life is busy... it probably always will be… but small steps still matter.

Start somewhere.
It counts.

Commute to Richmond from fxbg

In the process of interviewing for company that requires training in Richmond for 2 weeks. It’s 1 hr.15 mins one way currently at 10pm. The hours are 8-5pm during training. I quickly found daycare but just realized they open at 6:30am instead of 6am. Is 15 mins enough time?!
Follow-up question: does the fast lane work in that direction? Just realized I had my settings to avoid tolls. Now the time is 1 hr and 6 mins.

Will & Guardianship Lawyer Recommendation

Hello. I and my husband are 62. Fortunately, we are retired now however we have no will and plenty of questions regarding family trusts.

I know its irresponsible not to take care of this but the thought I will one day die and leave my special needs son, whose now an adult just sucks to think about. I get so upset. So I want to assign a guardian for him. JIC

Anyways my husband is on dialysis for five years now and still no kidney and I think its time to get this taken care of. Because not having it is making me upset too.

I don't know if a need two different lawyers or is there one that specializes in both.

If there is anyone you have had a positive experience with, I would love to know. Thank you so much.

Hi, my mom was out running and got hit by a car. It happened between 725-735pm. She was right outside Brock’s crossing the street from where that house got hit by a car to Lot A. The driver fled and my mom left in shock. A police report has been filed but if anyone out there saw something or knows of possible cameras please let me know. The vehicle was a White Audi SUV and fled down Lafayette.

Just a little positivity post :) today’s my two year anniversary of moving here from Minnesota and I really do like it here! Downtown is super cute and charming, I love all the history and all of the social events happening, huge fan of how many trees there are (even if I do miss the lakes)! My social life is more active and I get to try new things all the time <3

House Managers

Hi. Does anyone know of someone who can help with organizing my home and relieve some of the duties for my family? I am not looking for a nanny but someone who can help grocery shop, do some laundry and help with organization. I don’t know if such a person exists in the area; however. I’m thinking about 5-15 hours to start and possibly $30-$35 an hour. Thanks a lot!

I’m looking for recommendations for a competent and reasonably priced divorce attorney in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area, ideally someone experienced in contested cases and protective orders.

I’m currently in a high-conflict divorce involving:

- Disputes over finances (opposing party believes I’m hiding assets, which I am not)

- Protective order (TPO) issues

- Ongoing litigation over use of the marital home

I’ve unfortunately gone through multiple attorneys so far, largely due to misalignment on strategy, lack of preparation, or breakdowns in communication. At this point, I’m specifically looking for someone who:

- Is comfortable litigating (not just pushing settlement)

- Can handle high-conflict dynamics

- Is responsive and clear about strategy

- Will actually review evidence and prepare for hearings

I’m open to feedback on how to better manage the attorney-client relationship as well — I want to make sure the next one is a long-term fit.

If you’ve had a good experience with a divorce attorney in this area (or know someone strong in court), I’d really appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks in advance.
