Formex Essence 39mm or 41mm?

Hi, everyone! I am thinking of getting the formex essence soon for a graduation gift for myself, but there isn't a retailer near me for me to try on the different sizes of the watch. Can you guys let me know your wrist and watch sizes, and if you think that the size works for you? Including images of the watch on wrist would be greatly appreciated!

For reference, my wrist circumference is 6.7" / 17 cm.

Edit 1: Seiko Alpinist SPB117 fits really well on my wrist, if that helps :)

Formex Reef GMT Batman

First automatic, I love the ability to swap the bezels and bracelet/straps so easily. I feel like I have multiple watches in one.

Reef Bracelet Out of Stock

Currently considering a Reef 39.5 but noticed the bracelet is out of stock…

Any one have any idea if this something that happens often? And how long they are usually out of stock in these? Given it’s a smaller operation than retail brands.

It costs more to buy the bracelet after separate and rubber straps don’t come with clasp/buckles.

Any reef 39.5 bracelet / strap photos to share?

First, a big shout out to Markus at Formex and the whole Formex team! I attended Intersect NYC a few months back and dropped by to check out and try on a few of the Formex models. I tried on the Essence 39 in various dial designs. I was always hesitant to grab one online since the line design on the dials was not fully warming up to me. Unfortunately in person felt the same way...BUT...then I put on the Mother of Sky...and I just could not take it off. Leaving the dial for a minute though, comfort on the wrist is fantastic. 39 hits a sweet spot for me and it sits on my wrist perfectly. Bracelet wraps very nicely and the micro adjust is great welcome since I use it heavily to find the right fit day to day based on how my wrist is acting up.

The suspension case tech will either make this a more fun proposition or roll your eyes. Im a sucker for engineering ingenuity (thanks to growing up around a bunch) and love to just see how the case moves when I slightly push against it. Sometimes crown feels a bit dainty and I wish it had a screw down crown (not that it would come near any water) for peace of mind more than anything.

So yeah the dial, not sure what to say but I love MOP dials generally and on the website this didnt wow me that much. When I put it on and walked closer into the sunlight and could see the shimmer change slightly as it moved, I think really sold me.

Spent some time chatting with the guys from Formex and decided to grab it! Since they had just the show models on hand, they shipped one out first thing Monday morning and had it on my wrist 48hrs later!

Its become an easy daily wear and especially with sunlight finally coming through it's going to get a lot more wrist time.

Awesome watch, awesome people and an awesome experience!

Recently got this piece and I can’t stop trying to wear it! The dial color changes with lighting/angles, the new micro adjust on the bracelet, screw down crown, finishing is great for the price. There’s a ton to like. And 41mm gives the dial enough presence without having the case be too large. The watch tan I have going will get worse now.

While awaiting the possible 2026 release, a question for owners and those who have seen in the metal: How would you describe the depth of the Space Glacier blue color? Some pics seem very silvery with just the slightest hint of blue while others look a bit more saturated and somewhat deeper blue. I’d be most likely considering the 43mm. Also, if adding a strap, do you find it was worth it in addition to the bracelet, and what colors work best with that dial tone? I’m thinking that blue leather is very nice in pics and black just works with anything. Thanks in advance!

This is the Eisenkiesel edition on the Formex navy strap. Got this a few months ago and my other watches are collecting dust now. So comfy and versatile. Receives more compliments than my SMP300 and datejust combined. Runs at plus one second a day.

If you could choose between the Space Ghost or the Space Gold versions of the Formex Essence 39, which one would you go for? I’m also interested in the Malachite or the Eisenkiesel
