Kinda accidentally got into floor living to be closer to our free roam bunnies but I do really like it. Still debating whether to try floor sleeping now

Floor bed (by Karup)

Hey everyone!

My boyfriend and I are moving into a new apartment, and our bedroom space is quite limited. Because of that, we’re exploring more minimalist bed options especially ones that can be folded or mounted on the wall.

We recently came across a few designs from Karup and similar brands, and the idea seems really appealing in terms of saving space and keeping the room uncluttered.

Has anyone here tried something like a wall-mounted or foldable bed? How does it compare in terms of comfort to a traditional box bed?

Would love to hear your experiences or recommendations!

Considering getting a futon, need some insight :>

Hello everyone :3 I'm heavily considering getting a proper futon, because going to be living in a very small room, where a bad would half of the space
The apartment doesn't have a balcony, and the windows of the room are on the shady side, so no direct sunlight really, the only way to air it would be to hang it from my window or something..

The climate itself is relatively damp and relatively cool/cloudy most of the time

Would you recommend a futon in that case? If that's the case, should I consider different fillings besides pure cotton one?
There will be a decently sized wardobe to put the futon in

cheers :>

P.S. any good entry level non-zonli options? Don't have it available without an insane shipping cost or customs

Looking for a Japanese-style table

Hello!

I'm looking for a low table for a floor living/work space where we will play board games, cards and occasionnally work (not our main working space). Will likely be sitting on cushions.

I'm from Canada.

Ideal dimensions : 47.2×23.6×13.7IN or something similar.
Exemples:

Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a Canadian alternative to Zonli?

I’m seeking a Canadian alternative to Zonli, particularly for floor futon set ups, as well as floor seating such as mediation cushions. An alternative to the Zonli cloud chair would be rad, although that might be far fetched.

Unfortunately, the USD/CAD conversion + duties and customs fees means an order from them would burn a very large hole through my pocket.

I’m looking to only spend about $300CAD max for a futon mattress and either tatami mats or a frame similar to the ones Zonli sells. Ideally I’d spend no more than $250 CAD total. Even if you know of something that’s beyond that price range (that ships from within Canada) please recommend it!

Does anyone know of any alternatives?

TIA!

getting used to futon

I’ve recently got a japanese futon, it’s night 2. on it, and I experience severe upper back/shoulder pain. I’m not sure it’s because of the futon, or the lack of sport/streching in the last few weeks.

How long it is til our body gets used to it? Is this normal?

thanks :)

Upholstered bench as a suitable piece of transition furniture for me and company?

I recently moved to floor sleeping and am looking to gradually transition the rest of my space to more floor living. At the moment, I have a pretty standard furniture setup, including a couch and side tables, large ottoman that I use as a coffee table, and dining room table and chairs. I did take the legs off the couch to bring it lower to the floor, but it's still a bulky piece of furniture.

While I'm often on the floor for when I'm engaged in something (journaling, a meeting or call with friends, eating a meal), I still spend a lot of time lounging on my couch in the evenings. For that reason, I'm thinking that getting something more flexible and still usable (but not as alluring as a fully supportive couch) would be a great way to transition.

I was thinking a bench like this - which would be good for me and for my company who may not be comfortable/able to sit on the floor with me. Has anyone tried something similar?
