Need Advice

I’ve never fished before and I really want to try it. I bought this ugly stick gx2 because I heard they make really durable and reliable rods. I guess my question is what kind of lures and baits should I use for fishing around lakes in Kentucky? Anything else I should know as a complete day 1 beginner?

Bought Some of my Grandfather's Old Gear! Thoughts?

I've been wanting to get into fishing, and my grandfather fished for his whole life. He hasn't been able to fish for a few years now, but still had his old gear. He sold me 3 rods (2 Rhinos and a Zebco), a FannyPack filled with miscellaneous goodies and 2 FULL Tackleboxes for $500. He really loaded me up with supplies here! I'm a little overwhelmed! Of course the rods will need to be freshened up, but overall I'm thrilled with what all I've got here! What do you folks think?

Go-to tackle

What is your must have, favorite lure or bait to carry with you? One you would turn around for if you left it at home? Mine has to be my top water frog. Can be a game changer in those early morning trips.

Market place score

Guy wanted $20 bucks for all of these. Nothing special as far as money wise but I bought because I saw the gun type grip handles on atleast 3 of the rods and thats my favorite grip that nobody makes anymore.

All together after sorting through the broken and busted.. I came out with 4 reels, 2 that need minor work. 7 good quality rods, 3 of which are the handle type.

So the second piece from the bottom of my Shimano STC Monster rod snapped on snag.

The remaining 3 pieces of the rod are perfectly fine.

Does anyone have an idea for how I should go about looking for a replacement for the broken piece?
