Why so Lito? I got you gang (Lito vs Mini)

Okay DJI just dropped the Lito 1 and the Lito X1 today, and I’ve had some questions since the Lito leaks, as I’m sure so do some of you. So I dived into the specs comparing it to the Mini 4Pro, and here’s what I can tell you as a MiniPro pilot:

Main takeaway: the Lito 1 replaces the Mini 4K as the best entry DJI drone under 250g to fly with a controller.

Main similarities:

- same weight, folded size (which means carrying bag)

- same camera between Lito X1 and the Mini 4Pro

- practically same speed and wind resistance

*while the difference in practical flight-time might be negligible - Mini4Pro flys closer to the stated max flight time while with the Litos DJI created a new “Typical Flight Time” category. Make that what you will.

Key differences (beside the price):

  1. Litos’s gimbal cannot roll 90 degrees and do true vertical filming

  2. Lowlight: Lito X1 has LiDAR, similar to the Mini5Pro, better than the Mini4Pro for low-light flights. And even with the same camera sensor, both Litos have doubled the higher ISO range than the Mini4Pro in non-night modes, thanks to a better processing chip most likely.

  3. Litos fold out to be smaller = shorter arms, smaller propellers

*which also not stated in the specs sheets, I expect Litos’ blades to rotate faster comparing to Mini4Pro’s larger blades, which might lead to louder noise - it’s a speculation, but noise is pretty important to me while flying in most cases around people and wild life, so again make that what you will.

  1. Lito X1’s 42GB internal storage makes it truly possible to fly without a card and under 250g at all time.

  2. Mini4Pro has the HLG mode and the Litos don’t

  3. Litos radio transmission systems slightly weaker to the Mini4Pro - 2 antennas instead of 4. But in most practical flights, we probably won’t notice a difference.

  4. Mini4Pro supports h264 videos in all forms, and has slighter higher data rates (150Mbps vs 130 in Litos), Litos only supports h264 in lower resolutions - not a problem for most people, h265 is superior anyway.

All in all, as a video professional, the Mini4Pro (and of course the Mini5Pro) are still the better choice for me, as it gives me the most control, option, quietest flight and true vertical filming - more than justifying the extra $200. But for most people flying for themselves, the Lito is a welcoming new series, and you should confidently go for it.

TL;DR

Professionals - go for the Mini Pros

Hobbyists - go for the Litos

DJI Lito series launched: Lito 1 and X1 Specs + my thoughts vs the Mini and Neo

DJI just released two new drones, the Lito 1 and Lito X1, and I’ve been going through the specs + store pages. Haven’t tried either yet, but my first reaction is that DJI’s lineup is starting to get kind of messy.

My impression is that the Lito series is basically DJI carving out a new middle tier between the Neo-style "easy flying camera" drones and the more expensive Mini line.

The Lito 1 starts at 339 € and on paper it looks pretty strong for the price:

  • 1/2" 48 MP sensor
  • 4K/60
  • 4K/100 slow motion
  • omnidirectional obstacle sensing
  • ActiveTrack
  • 36 min flight time
  • 15 km transmission
  • 249 g

That makes it feel like a pretty direct upgrade over stuff like the Mini 4K, which is cheaper but also much more basic. Mini 4K still looks fine if you just want a simple cheap camera drone, but Lito 1 feels much more "current".

Then the Lito X1 starts at 429 € and that’s where things get more interesting:

  • 1/1.3" sensor
  • 4K/60 HDR
  • 10-bit D-Log M
  • 42 GB internal storage
  • forward LiDAR
  • omnidirectional sensing
  • same 36 min / optional 52 min battery setup

That’s why I’m a bit confused by DJI’s segmentation right now.
Because once you look at the X1, it starts feeling less like "entry-level" and more like a cheaper version of what a Mini used to be.

Compared with the Neo 2, the difference seems clearer. Neo still feels like the more casual / social / beginner-first drone:

  • smaller and lighter feel
  • full prop guards
  • more of a "flying camera" vibe
  • lower-end camera
  • cheaper

So to me:

  • Neo = easiest / most casual
  • Lito = entry-level but still a proper camera drone
  • Mini = now moving more into premium compact territory

That’s also why I think the Lito series matters more than it seems at first glance. It feels like DJI is quietly saying that the old cheaper end of the Mini line is no longer really the Mini line.

The Mini 5 Pro is now way more expensive, so if someone wants a sub-250 foldable drone and doesn’t want to spend Mini 5 Pro money, I can easily see the Lito X1 becoming the obvious pick.

So overall my take is:

  • Lito 1 looks like a very strong replacement for the old budget Mini slot
  • Lito X1 looks like the value sweet spot
  • Mini feels like it’s drifting upscale
  • Neo still makes sense, but more as a different kind of product than a direct competitor

I added them here if anyone wants to compare the specs side by side:

DJI Lito 1 and X1 specs just notch under Mini 5 Pro

Its not bad at all

Lito X1 1/1.3 4k100, omnidirectional LiDAR, 36 min flights

DJI is not afraid of them cannibalization this time

Mini 5 Charging Hub Size

Does anyone know if the DJI Battery charging hub for the Mini 5 Pro is the exact same size as the one for the Mini 4 Pro? Couldn’t find anything on this subreddit or Google search.

My Mini 4 pro was victim of a bird strike over water and unable to be recovered (RIP). I have a nice hard shell case with exact fit cutouts for all the parts.

I’m thinking of replacing with a Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo (since the Mini 4P batteries aren’t recommended by DJI for use in Mini 5P). I just want to know if the battery charging hub will fit in my case or if I’ll need to modify the cutout/buy a new case.

Flying DJI Mini 4 Pro in the US (CA, NV, UT, AZ) - tips & regulations?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip to the US soon, visiting California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. I’m thinking about bringing my DJI Mini 4 Pro with me.

From what I’ve researched so far, I’ve completed the TRUST certificate (as suggested by Google), and I understand the basic rules: no flying in national parks, around sensitive or restricted sites, or over large crowds. I also know the drone must always remain within visual line of sight.

So far, I’ve flown in several countries including across the EU, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, and I haven’t had any major issues or unexpected situations. Still, I always try to learn as much as possible about local regulations before flying in a new country to avoid any surprises.

If anyone has experience flying in these states or in the US in general, I’d really appreciate any practical tips, things to watch out for, or anything that might not be obvious from official guidelines.

Thanks in advance!
