My first purchase from MediaOCD

And it most certainly will not be the last. They packaged this film with such care, I will absolutely buy from them again.

I’m really happy I made “Arcadia of my Youth” my first purchase, especially after hearing rumors about this film going out of print soon; I didn’t want to make the mistake of waiting too long like I did with “Beautiful Dreamer” (PLEASE re-release “Beautiful Dreamer” Discotek, I’m BEGGING you).

Plus, I’m happy to own one of my favorite movies of all time, now that it’s not streaming anywhere.

Blu-rays are forever, and so are the classics.

At this point it’s starting to feel like it. I made a post yesterday in the CR sub Reddit (nobody commented 😢) about how Crunchyroll hasn’t been listing new manga volumes for pre order or release dates. Quite a few series I’m collecting still haven’t been listed. Now with mediaocd growing bigger, it seems like things may go that way.

I started watching Sgt. Frog, it’s a tone of a fun, it’s a real shame it wasn’t dubbed in it’s entirely. I also just realized my haul is entirely Discotek Products. Awesome!!!

Yeah... For some reason while the original Series did get a dub, albeit one that was unfinished and only covered 25 out of the 49 episodes. The Final OVA didn't actually get one... You can obviously Blame Media Blasters and their primary "obsession" with releasing H*ntai titles (albeit under Kitty Media because it's obviously would be frightening seeing a H*ntai title on the same platform as other general titles) back during the American Anime industry's lowest lows in the Late 2000s. Seriously, someone at Discotek should try to ask NYAV Post or even another recording studio with fans of the Brave series and giant robots in general to finally give this a Dub, and while you at it, reprint The King of Braves GaoGaiGar with a redub that finally has dubbed versions of episodes 26 to 49. I'm sure Michael Sinterniklaas would be happy to see this series get a proper dubbed English release from start to finish.

Although just giving Final a dub would probably be more well... Finically viable for Discotek considering how Final only has 8 compared to GGG's 49 and Sonic X's 78 (looks like a Redub for that isn't in the cards for now.)

UPDATE - Issue has been resolved. Was an issue with shipping weight to the UK. Thanks for the fix!

Anyone running into this issue? Trying to order some of the Discotek deep dives to the UK but can't seem to get any shipment options.

For reference it's Kodasha season 1, SGT Frog season 2, and Arcadia of my Youth.

I will be truly devastated if they no longer ship to the UK 😞

Hey, guys. I want to tell you that the most recent Discotek newsletter came out on April 24, 2026.

I was planning to post that newsletter on the 25^(th) of that month (AKA, the day AFTER it was released on emails). Unfortunately, I was involved in a surprise family visit throughout the weekend, so I never had time to do it. After that, I had a busy week during the final week of April (04/27-04/30) with three days of work and a doctor's appointment somewhere in between.

Then on April 29, I decided to post the April 24 newsletter on a late night (before midnight). At the time, my own newsletter post gained 13 upvotes, but no comments. Unfortunately, my post was removed by the Discotek moderators for some reason. It turns out that it came out over three and a half hours after another Reddit user posted a similar (but long) newsletter post on the same night.

Ever since the very first newsletter came out in late 2023, I frequently posted new newsletters on specific days under my first user name, u/Gaming-n-AnimeFan53k. My newsletter posts are always short, but simple. Now that I've changed jobs, it can be really challenging to post new newsletter content while living a busy life. I hope you guys understand.

I have some crunchyroll & amazon induced PTSD when it comes to blu-ray backorders and I'm curious about MediaOCD's backorder process.

I recently placed an order selecting only items from the "In Stock" filtered list. However, my order status afterwards indicated multiple items are "Backordered." I have a few questions:

- How do backorders work on this site?

- Is a backorder a fulfillment guaranteed, and what is the average fill time?

- To prevent "In Stock" items from selling out while waiting for backordered items, would it be better to cancel and split my purchase into two separate orders?

- Is there a way to determine if an item is on backorder before placing an order?

Additionally, I have not yet received an order confirmation email. I am hoping this is simply a side effect of the new site rather than an issue with my order.

I just watched Babel II. Was AMAZING until the last episode ruined it.

The 1st two episodes were amazing. Especially the big fight at the end of episode 2. Even during it I was like this feels like a finale type fight. Then episode 3 was okay. Then episode 4 was terrible. They cut so many corners in animation. It was basically one giant slide show for most of it. Very disappointing way to end it. I'd say watch the 1st half and then just skip the last half. Its better that way.

Its still be worth watching even if the ending leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Im still happy Discotek released it. There is just something about these early 90s OVAs that I just dig. Keep it up.

Received notification today that my pre-orders for ZOE and Lupin vs Cat's Eye are finally shipping one month after release.

Looks like CR finally got another shipment of the March Distotek titles in after not fulfilling a number of pre-orders on the original release date and are shipping them out. Most of the March titles appear to be back in stock at the moment (30 Apr).
