I just got home from a very long drive, and it was towards the beginning of it when I heard the song [Traveling Soldier] on one of my playlists and got the itch to roleplay something sort of similar. Basically, I think it'd be really neat to play a girl who meets a guy who's about to go on a deployment. Maybe his first? And they hit it off during the time they have together and decide to keep in touch. Now, full disclosure, I don't know how much of a long term plot this could be, but I'm open to ideas. I also generally prefer my stories to have some darker themes to them (as opposed to pure fluff stories) so we can definitely throw some twists and turns in there as well. It's more fun when we come up with the story together after all, right? And as far as your guy, he's completely up to you to make. Will he be a little older, gruff and jaded? Or maybe on the younger side (18+ though, obviously) with a brighter outlook on life? I'm excited to see what you come up with!

Hello everybody! My name's wieland and today I'm searching for a fellow enthusiast for historical romantic roleplays, specifically the middle of the 20th century. Furthermore, I am interested in having the main romantic pairing be of an intercultural nature. I adore stories involving romance between characters from different cultural backgrounds. I believe there's a lot of potential there to explore the narratively interesting results of these contrasts within historical settings. Thematically, this would revolve around love, duty, religion and all the other struggles and opposition our characters would more than likely face.

While it's not a requirement, I'd prefer if my prospective writing partner would come or have ancestry in the regions corresponding to whatever historical nation we'd eventually choose, simply because in the past I've made the experience that this massively improves the realism of the characters and overall setting.

With all of this said, let me introduce some possible ideas for the exact setting and at least my character's background. I'm imagining him to be a sailor in either the American or British naval forces. He's fighting in the Pacific Theater of World War Two and is stationed in Asia. Options the exact place where the story'd take place are China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Maylasia and all the many islands in the South West Pacific.

Now, onto the other character. Perhaps she works in a harbourside town at a restaurent, tavern or inn which he frequently visits or maybe she's an attendant working in an infirmary where he's being treated, clerical worker, telegraph operator or a seamstress working on the military base where he is stationed. I'm open to whatever you can think of.

I've been slowly fleshing out an immersive 18+ high fantasy roleplay server that allows for both casual roleplay and roleplay for outcomes. The idea is that it would borrow from aspects of an rpg game, while also remaining loosely inspired by play-by-posts and west-marches.

The idea of having both casual and outcome roleplay is that not everyone has or wants a roleplay partner, but everyone wants to interact with the world as their character. Hopefully players would find friends or even a party of people to roleplay with, but if not, players can still enjoy the server and the gamified immersion of it. And, when your friends are not online, you can still enjoy the world by finding rare items, exploring the world, etc.

• There would be rumor boards per each location ("quests") that, depending on how you roleplay, may unlock new places of exploration, reward you with loot, introduce new NPCs, etc. (hence the "roleplay for outcomes" aspect).
• Outcomes may not be in a timely manner, as mods are humans and get to things when they can (prioritization of mods would be mods who login daily if not every other day, at least). This keeps people from running through the server too fast, while also promoting satisfaction when hard achievements are met (maybe it takes you two weeks to slay the dragon -- through training with NPCs (a possible trait system) or acquiring certain items, outcome rates can be shortened).
• Locations can not be unlocked without successfully navigating through a prior area, keeping roleplay realistic in the sense that your character is stuck somewhere until they can successfully navigate the fantasy world. The idea is to promote creativity, problem-solving, community (if so desired), and interaction with the world as a whole.
• Dice Maiden would be involved for certain outcome roleplays to promote fairness and transparency for certain results
• There would be classes with different requirements for rolling (i.e: mage needs to roll for the spells they cast).
• I'm debating developing a trait system that negatively/positively affects your dice rolling situationally. This would require strategy when planning for an outcome roleplay -- for example, maybe a location is in a snowy biome and your character has a weakness to cold. You may need to roll a die every thread of your outcome roleplay to ensure you don't get sent back down to the bottom of the mountain to start over. JUST AN IDEA, I'm a bit afraid of overcomplication.
• Possibly a couple different races? Debating between Human, Elf, and possibly something else...
• Interacting with NPCs differently can unlock new discoverables (whether that's loot, server lore for the world, possibly a pet, mount, artifact, access to a new location, whatever)
• Working out mechanics for dungeon-crawling/boss fights (possibly) for loosely-inspired west-march gameplay
• There would be a host of items to collect/find through various means
• Including pets and mounts -- mounts would be able to take you to new locations and, therefore, new places for roleplay
• There are designated monsters and bosses in each area you can fight for loot/advancement/etc
• Every new player would have a profile created and updated where their inventory/fame/etc could be recorded. Mods would be in charge of updating inventory, answering roleplays with the outcomes based on dice rolls (theirs or the player's), and keeping things fair
• Working out mechanics for a weekly duel system between players for rare rewards, server-wide recognition, and more
• Still working on possible guild mechanics, crafting, etc

The over-arching idea is to essentially have an interactive high fantasy world hosted on a server that promotes engagement and interaction with it in different ways. You obviously don't have to roleplay to advance throughout the world if you don't want to, you're more than welcome to just hang out and casually roleplay with friends or other players, but the idea would be that it is a "living" world that has a lot to discover and find.

Thoughts, suggestions, critiques, questions, etc?? This would be a long-term side project of mine and I'm still in the early phases of fleshing it out, so I'd love to know people's opinions as I start laying the groundwork.

With the end of the Hundred Year Conflict, the era of restoration, recovery, and change is afoot. The year is 105 AG, five years since the end of the war and Zuko’s coordination as Fire Lord, and despite the progress Zuko has made in order to guide the Fire Nation away from its Imperialistic ways, he is still being met with great resistance. There are still many that are loyal to the previous traditions along with the previous Fire Lord, Ozai, but despite this Zuko is working tirelessly to help maintain good relations with the other nations.

Looking to open up the Fire Nation’s borders to trade and commerce, Zuko decides to host the very first World’s Fair. This Universal Exhibition would be designed to showcase the achievements of all the nations and attempt to bring the world closer together. As such, many merchants, performers, traders, inventors and more, make their way to the exhibition in order to showcase to the world what they have to offer. There is also a competition, and exhibits that are popular or catch the eye of the Fire Lord or other officials may be able to strike a business deal or two. However the deals made aren’t just limited to the benefit of the Fire Nation, the nations may be able to mingle and conduct business and trade with each other for the benefit of their home nations as well.

There are still those loyal to Ozai and the Fire Nation's old imperialistic ways. Many of these citizens who oppose Zuko laugh at the fact that he's trying to sow peace, commenting that the Fire Nation used to be so powerful that they didn't need such frivolities in order to get the resources they needed, and that the nation was falling from grace. Zuko is determined to prove them wrong, that violence and conflict isn't needed to make the Fire Nation prosper. However, there are many in waiting, eager to sabotage the exhibition in opposition to Fire Lord Zuko's new policy of peace.

Hello! As the prompt above has described, this is an Avatar the Last Airbender RP that centers around Zuko’s attempts to establish and mend the Fire Nation’s relations with the rest of the world. With the new information about the upcoming movie later this year, I’ve been interested in exploring what sort of advancements could happen before the time of the upcoming movie. I’m looking for someone to write Zuko for the rp, and of course the other members of Team Avatar would be in attendance at this World Exhibition as well. I’m hoping to write an OC who accompanies her father to the exhibition in order to help promote her father’s trading and manufacturing company. While helping with promotion of her father's latest invention, she would cross paths with Zuko and the plot rolls on from there.

The Obscure Realms is an original setting with many creatures from various mythologies being allowed as character races. Most creatures from mythology and some from fantasy media are allowed. This includes things like tieflings, Aasimar, Genasi, and some other things from other media that don’t exist in mythology. We do NOT allow certain creatures, like ones that could be culturally insensitive. We also don’t allow gods and demi-gods for lore reasons, they have been long disconnected from the realms. The general premise is that all of our IRL known mythology has truth in it somewhere, generally in species long forgotten by humanity. This RP occurs in an alternate reality where our modern IRL Earth has more behind the curtains.

The supernatural world (The Obscure Realms) exists on a group of planes (Feywilds, Shadowfell, Hellscape, and the Celestial Dominion)) that have been connected to the human world (Earth) since the very beginnings of human civilization. While supernatural creatures previously wandered amongst humans as gods, goddesses, myths, legends, and monsters, they were forced underground with the rise of Christianity. The RP takes place in the modern day and age where supernatural beings have been largely forgotten, fallen into myths and stories. In reality, they have been forced to hide from humans in their own realms or be hunted down and experimented on like animals by the few human organizations that know the truth. Join us in this dark fantasy world and create characters and creatures from our mythologies!

Humans have long forgotten the war, but many supernaturals are old enough to remember a time before. “Cmon man, you might win big and get out of this shitty trailer park,” my best friend said, as I snapped back. This shitty trailer park is my home, I can’t afford anywhere halfway decent.”

My friend moved back, and he said, " Alright, I’ll pay for the hotel stays, and I’ll toss in $500 of betting cash to you and me. What do you say?”He was trying to push me into going with him.

“Fine, but if we all lose big, I’m not paying you back for any of this…”I said, getting up off my couch and I started packing up for Nevada, i had never started gambling and I'd usually just stick with drinking.

I took my life savings with me as well, $15,000 I’d have to save up for another 3-5 years to get a home, I had put on a cheap suit that I got from the thrift store.

After driving 12 hours from Colorado to Nevada, we unpacked after getting to our mid-range hotel rooms, he handed me $500 and said.” Don’t gamble it all at once.”

I headed off to the strip on my own, seeing the 4-star hotels and the casinos and I picked a random casino, i pooled my cash into chips and started gambling in different casinos.

I was on a major losing streak and I felt the pressure of my gambling crushing me, i had lost $15,400 and I was ready to give up, i put down my last $100 chip on a random number on roulette…the ball spun around until…it landed on that number

“00 green, Mr Graham wins.” I had won $4,000 on the roulette wheel and that gave me a boost, to which I started playing blackjack, i doubled my money, quadrupled my money, and then used this to do one final bet in roulette, then…I won $260,000,000 and the whole casino erupted in applause.

“21 red, congratulations sir.” I heard as I felt like lady luck had finally tossed me a bone, I cashed out my chips and I started to get some attention from women, I tipped the dealers and I was told to stop gambling in some casinos.

Meanwhile, my friend started to lose…horribly, he would pump every single dollar into the casino and he was losing more and more than he was comfortable with, losing his house, his car, he had gambled and gambled and he lost more than anything he could ever lose.

I had moved my cash into my savings account, leading me to keep some of the cash in my car, i started partying and having the time of my life, enjoying what Las Vegas had to offer as I stayed in the Caesars Palace hotel.

I moved my stuff into the Caesar's palace hotel and my friend asked me if he could drive my car, i said yes and he picked me up…to bring me out in the middle of nowhere, then…\*smack\* a shovel hit me in the head.

I was unconscious for 20 minutes, my friend was digging my grave and he had dug out a 6ft hole in the ground.” You rubbed your success in my face, you humiliated me, you don’t deserve the cash”

I awoke and I saw my friend carrying a switch blade, I broke out of my restraints and I felt him stab me in the chest, i fought back tackling him and beating him, after a solid 30 minutes of fighting…john had fallen into the hole and I was on top of him, punching him and we would keep fighting.

Until he pulled out a gun and I grabbed the hand that the gun was in and he dropped it, firing it into his head and I moved away from him i got out of the grave and I dusted myself off, I headed into my car and I started drinking, trying to get rid of the pain.

I drove down the road and I started to sway a bit too much, leading to a cop car following me, i stopped immediately and the cop asked for my papers, i gave him my license and registration, and I admitted to killing my best friend…

He proceeded to go to his car and asked what to do, he returned 10 minutes later and arrested me, taking whatever I had in my car and me to the station, leaving me in the cell as the nearby hospital helped me.

The knife that was pushed into my right peck was an inch away from killing me, the nurse removed the knife and stitched up my wound, the bruises and damage to my face were noted and given to the sheriff, i was brought in for questioning and I saw you enter the interrogation room.

I was given some coffee, a cigarette and a sandwich, i ate and drank and smoked before you entered the room, despite smelling of booze, my plea of self-defence was pretty solid…

I was hungover but I was sober enough to answer questions, the nurse gave you a full body description of me and my injuries, the blood had painted the suit shirt a deep red, my friends corpse was found eventually by a tourist and brought to a morgue.

Hello all! To get more into what I'm looking for, I'd like an original story in the BattleTech/Mech Warrior setting! The actual time period can be decided by us, though my top two contenders are either the Clan Invasion (starting at 3050 and going forward from there) or before that, either around the Fourth Succession War or just before the Clan Invasion begins, by a year or two. I'm fine with either, and I'm quite flexible on what our characters can be! Whether they're part of the Inner Sphere or the Clans, or what Great House or Clan they are. Or if they're independent mercenaries. They don't even necessarily have to be on the same side, on that note!

I'm 100% open to plots that are focused around two main characters, but I'm also open to having a GM who's down to tell a story with my character through the universe. I'm also open to bouncing back and forth between who GMs at what point if we decide to focus on two characters! I'll leave it up to you and your preferences. I do prefer partners who are well-versed in BattleTech, but I've no exact bar for entry in terms of experience! I'm not expecting someone who knows 100% of everything, hah.

I'm more than open to offering ideas as far as how the direction of the story could go! An RP like this is a collaborative experience, and I tend to keep in touch OOCly with my writing partners anyway, for stuff regarding ideas, direction, or just our enjoyment of the RP so far! I do prefer active partners on that note. I don't need a partner who posts as often as they can, but I would like to avoid weeks or months of inactivity unless I'm warned beforehand.

Likewise, I very much want a partner who is literate as well as active. Literacy, for me, should at minimum be around the level of this post, if you need a baseline reference for stuff like spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and so on. The exact post size can vary, though, so don't take this to mean every post has to be as long as this! I enjoy having at least a paragraph or two to work off, but different situations require more or less detail. I'm a very detail-driven writer, though, so anyone who can keep me immersed in the setting and characters would be loved!

Only a couple of years after the Mars Federal Socialist party set up their legalized bounty program on the moon of Deimos, the formerly free organizations and syndicates around the celestial object began to be picked off of their respective domains. Larger groups, like the affamed Iron Calvary, could take the loss of an occasional grunt, while others saw nearly all of their ill-gotten-gains ransacked, and lives robbed back. Money kept flowing through the newly-regulated system, and as it grew larger, the formerly expansive skyline of underground scheming began to shrink.

However, as with all good things, that weight carries over.

Stories of issues amongst the three planets began to seep through the cracks. In order to keep the piece, numerous organizations began to emerge to combat the misuse of the Bounty Hunting System.

Enter: SARNET.

Labeled as a “judicial insurance agency” SARNET sought to protect those being hunted from the misuse of the system as a whole. Paired in twos, agents of SARNET investigate current, former, and actively ongoing hunts in order to find evidence of misconduct, no matter the risk.

I’m looking to tune into that Cowboy Bebop aesthetic, but with different characters, and more particularly, from a different perspective. I’m really looking to write a darker, more character-driven story, maybe even with some political/thriller elements. I typically wait to write the finer details, as I like having someone to bounce ideas against. I would like to build our own world, although, if using more solid groundwork helps, i’m all game. In the bustling city of modern intrigue, Juliette, a spirited and tomboyish journalist, dedicates herself to unraveling the mystery behind the vanishing masterpieces and historical treasures that have puzzled authorities for weeks. Her relentless pursuit leads her to an unexpected discovery, a scorched fragment of paper hinting at a location beyond the city limits.

Undeterred, Juliette ventures into the eerie realm of a deserted mansion, her investigative instincts overriding any sense of caution. The mansion’s grandiosity conceals secrets within its walls, and an unsettling sensation accompanies her every step, as if unseen eyes are watching. Upon entering what appears to be a forgotten ballroom, her eyes widen at the stolen riches laid out before her.

Drawn inexplicably to a diamond necklace, Juliette, not one to embrace traditional femininity, finds herself captivated by its beauty. In an instant, she loses consciousness and finds herself transported through time and space to Rococo France…

Confused and disoriented, Juliette awakens in a world of powdered wigs and opulent gowns, facing the man who has unwittingly become her host. Little does she know that her journalistic pursuits have entwined her fate with an enigmatic figure from another era, determined to help her navigate the extravagant and perilous courts of 18th-century France as a lady of the court.

The stage is set for Juliette’s journey through time, where she’ll have to adapt to her new life, with lessons in etiquette and courtly manners, entangled in a web of intrigue and adventure…

Several weeks later… In the opulent hall of the French court, amidst the chatter of lords and ladies, the Count held court, his presence commanding attention. As he conversed with his peers, their attention was suddenly diverted as Juliette entered the room, a vision of baroque elegance.

Juliette glided into the room, her every movement a display of grace. She was dressed in a pink corset gown, its intricate design accentuating her figure with refined poise. Her heels clicked against the marble floor, adding to the rhythm of her approach. Jewels adorned her wrists and ears, catching the light and casting a shimmering glow around her.

A frilly choker necklace encircled her throat, adding a touch of delicacy to her ensemble. Her hair was styled in a complicated arrangement, adorned with flowers that enhanced her charm. But it was her makeup that truly highlighted her features, with white powder dusting her face and soft red lips adding warmth.

With a glass tray held delicately in her hands, Juliette approached the count with measured steps, her eyes meeting his with polite deference. Placing the tray on the table before him, she curtsied gracefully, her movements fluid and composed.

“My lord,” she said softly, her voice steady as she stood beside the smiling man.

The count’s hand, warm and guiding, gently touched Juliette’s shoulder, drawing her into the conversation. His touch conveyed a sense of alliance, and she responded with a nod, appreciating the complexities of her new world.

“Introduce yourself, my dear,” the count’s voice was smooth, his eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and satisfaction as he addressed Juliette. “Let our guests know who you are.”

With a steady breath, the young woman complied, her voice carrying a note of adaptation as she spoke the words she had learned.

“I am Lady Juliette,” she began, her words a quiet acknowledgment of her new role. “And I am honored to join you at court.”

Hi everyone! I’ve always loved the French Rococo Era, especially concerning women and their place in society, and the elegant customs of the time. So I would like to do a scenario where my OC, Juliette, finds herself transported to aristocratic France and learns to become an elegant and gracious lady of the court. Your character will help guide this tomboy through the process of adapting to courtly life with lessons in manners and refinement.

I would like to make an RP where Juliette finds herself in a brand new environment that’s unknown to her, where she will have to learn to adapt. The idea is to emphasize the baroque/rococo setting in the RP, for example with the clothes she will wear as a French rococo lady or the activities she will participate in at court.

Indeed, one of the things I expect from this RP is the training and education she will receive to make her a perfect courtier: graceful, polite, and refined—in short, everything she might have resisted becoming at first!

Maybe her host will decide to give her a new title? Maybe she will learn to engage in girly conversations, play music, or dance to participate in court events? So many possibilities, and don’t hesitate to share your ideas!

The idea of this RP is really to have the classic pattern of a spirited tomboy woman arriving in the hands of a mysterious, influential man from the past. I want the RP to have a slow build-up and character development so that there’s eventually a romance between her and the count. I also want Juliette to be fully aware of the changes happening to her but gradually embrace them, making things even more interesting.

In this RP, the main themes will be personal growth and cultural adaptation, the idea is really to transform her from a tomboyish, feisty journalist into an elegant, feminine elegant French lady of the court, allied with the man she initially mistrusted.

I would like a long-term RP where Juliette learns her duties from her host while discovering the life of a court companion.

The aim of this RP is to provide an in-depth look at the life of a French lord’s concubine , especially Juliette, who will become his most valued ally. She will learn to accompany him to major events and to be presented as a symbol of grace, making her host proud and enhancing his influence.

I’d like to start at the beginning, before my character fully adapts. We could explore her challenges and adjustments, following along as she gradually realizes that embracing court life is her best path forward.
