insane weight loss

hi guys! i wanted to come on here to ask if anybody else has had this experience coming off of depo. ive gained weight on the depo (as it was a side effect) and i loved it—i’m someone who is naturally thin and have had weight gain goals for a long time. now that im off the depo, i feel like i’ve lost more than what i originally had.

before my usage, i was a 34b and now i can’t fit into any of my old or new bras, shrinking back down to an a cup. all of my jeans that i had that were my size are now loose on me. i genuinely feel so insecure of my body and i don’t know what i can do. i had body insecurity before and during my doses of depo, but now that i’m off it and supposed to feel better, i don’t feel like i do..

fear mongering

this community seems to fear monger this bc alot more than other bc communities so let me say this. alot of these side effects are preventable when taking the right precautions .

if you never really worked out or lived an active lifestyle with mindful eating b4 taking this bc, ofc you’re going to gain weight on depo cause you’re falling victim to your cravings daily for 3 months straight.

ofc you’re gonna (temporarily) lose bone density because you’ve never lifted a weight a day jn your life & the only time you engage in physical activity is during sex.

and if you’ve never had depression and aren’t prone to it, i doubt you’ll just randomly start having manic episodes and things of that nature.

if you’ve never done anything to intentionally maintain your body and your state of life as it is now, ofc something that greatly affects your body has the capacity to change how you function.

if anything, prior to starting bc is the perfect time to start practicing these things and claiming control over your body.

i feel like the ppl in here (and ppl in general) know this, that they never work out or have alr had depression, yet never mention that they’ve had it prior to this shot jst to fear monger and it’s becoming straight bs.

Hi everyone! I am scheduled for surgery in August. This is incredible because after years of suffering and no one taking me seriously, I’m finally feeling hopeful and that I won’t be a prisoner in my own body anymore.

In the meantime, my doctor put me on the depo shot (first shot in March after not being on it for a few years) to bring some relief from my periods. I’ll be honest it was hell going through it initially as it exaggerated my PMS symptoms, but I’ve finally reached the point where, besides the fatigue, I’m feeling like myself again without the horrible periods.

I have another shot appt for the first week of June, but that means post op I’ll be “withdrawing” from the depo shot. Has anyone had a similar situation? Would it be better if I get off the shot now and deal with my periods just a bit longer - better the devil you know kind of situation? Will it affect my post op healing?
My biggest concern is trying to get through the healing while also dealing with whatever happens after the shot wears off.

Thanks in advance!! ♥️

Successful pregnancy stories after stopping depo shot

I was on the depo for 9 years and purposely missed my shot in April to try and have a baby. I’ve heard so many different stories and of course I’m now so scared of infertility. When did everyone get there period back after the missed shot ? Or do you not have to have the period to get pregnant? I wish I never went on the shot

No period after 1 depo shot?

Hi everyone! I got the depo shot back in October last year, after taking it I had no period up until December-January where it lasted 18 days. Ever since this I don’t think I’ve really had a proper period since? Some spotting that’s lasted a few days occasionally across some months but nothing much? I’m wondering if this is normal? (I’ve taken multiple pregnancy tests and they always show up negative so I don’t think I’m pregnant. Just looking for some advice or opinions?

Pregnancy after depo

Hello 👋

I was on the depo injection for around 9 years and I’m currently 31, turning 32 later this year. My last injection was due on 22nd December, but we decided not to continue with it as we want to start trying for our first baby.

So far I haven’t had a proper period return yet, only some spotting now and then, along with occasional cramps.

Originally, the plan was for me to stay in my previous job until after having a baby, but I was really unhappy there. Even though staying probably would’ve been the “sensible” option, an opportunity came up to move into a career that I feel could make me happier and give me more opportunities long-term, so I decided to go for it.

I’m currently in my second week of the new job and although we still definitely want a baby, I’m now wondering whether it might be better to wait around 3 months until I’m past my probation period.

I think I’m just looking for advice really, as I’m a big overthinker 😅 Part of me is wondering whether we should use some form of protection temporarily just in case.

My husband isn’t too concerned either way, but I think I’m worrying because I want to get settled into the job first while also being conscious of my age — even though realistically I know 3 months isn’t a huge delay.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Side effects of Depo

Hi guys, I have endometriosis, and I recently decided to stop using Depo because I want to try getting pregnant soon. I’ve never experienced pregnancy yet, so that’s one of the reasons why I decided to stop.

My first shot was in October 2025, and my last shot was in January 2026. I experienced bleeding almost every day, but it stopped around March. Then this April, I started getting what I thought was my regular period again. However, I’ve been getting my period every 12 days, lasting about 4 days each time, and I also experience bleeding after s.

Is this normal after stopping Depo? Has anyone else experienced this? Please respect my post.

Confused after 16 years- weight expectations? Changes?

I recently stopped taking the shot after I have been on consistently for roughly 16 years. I was curious about people’s experiences with weight loss or gain, both after being on it a long time and coming off it after using it for a long time.

Over the last few years I started noticing things. More hair growth, and weight gain. I have a lot of anxiety around that, so once I hit 160 (I am 5’6”) I sought help from a nutritionist for eating disorders. Now I am almost 190 and miserable (switched nutritionists too).

I guess my question is whether anyone else had been on it this long and what your experience was getting off it? Did you gain weight? Lose it? I’m really worried I will keep growing and according to the doctor certain side effects can actually happen later on even after being on the shot for a while…… But I know the only way to see what’s going on with me in terms of that is to eliminate that variable.

I also found out recently that my mom’s side does have history with endometriosis and this may have helped prevent that from happening to me. Not sure if it helps to note that at all too.
