Multi-algorithm multi-hardware mining infrastructure: nearly a month in, how did it go?

I already posted when I started with the experiment, this here is the follow up. It's now around three weeks (actually a month with the testing before the official start) since Qubic went live dual-mining DOGE and Monero simultaneously. Here is a technical retrospective.

Live stats:

Technical summary:

  • Scrypt ASIC mining (DOGE): operational for one month
  • RandomX CPU/GPU mining (Monero): operational in parallel for full month
  • Downtime: none/minimal
  • DOGE network hashrate contribution: increasing daily. currently around 5 TH/s. Daily peaks around 10 TH/s. Highest peak: 65TH/s.

What I think about the architecture:

  1. Multi-algorithm mining on separate hardware classes works!
  2. The maintenance overhead did not kill my operation. Actually it was better than expected. Stable after setup.
  3. Older Scrypt ASICs (L3+) are apparently part of the infrastructure mix (very nice for my L7).

What remains unproven:

  • Long-term economics versus dedicated single-chain mining
  • Whether the payout conversion layer introduces meaningful friction at scale
  • Whether this architecture generalizes to other algorithm combinations

For anyone thinking about multi-workload mining setups: this is the most concrete public info so far I've seen on whether it is operationally feasible.

I think the most interesting question is the profitability. The network is still in a transition phase but there are already some numbers. These I got from a miner that is involved in the qubic project:

DG1+ ASIC (13 GH/s)

  • Qubic Pool => 11,113,320 Qu’s => $8.78/day
  • Traditional pool => 60.5 DOGE => $5.75/day

That matches my subjective feeling with my L7s. Maybe deduct a bit for qu to USD conversion, but it's still a bit more profitable. Good for older hardware. I think they plan on paying 10% more than traditional pools, so these numbers will probably go down a bit.

Question on L7 market rates – Is a $350 budget realistic for a used unit right now?

I’m looking to expand my home setup and I'm currently eyeing the Bitmain Antminer L7. Since the new ones are hovering around the $700+ mark, I’ve been trying to find a used/second-hand unit to fit a tighter budget of approximately $350.

For those of you who have picked up used Scrypt gear recently:

  1. Is $350 a fair "street price" for a high-hour L7, or am I lowballing too much?
  2. Have any of you successfully sourced second-hand units from Verified Vendors at this price point lately?
  3. If you’ve managed to find a deal close to this range, where did you find the best luck without running into issues?

I want to make sure I’m looking in the right places and not overpaying for older hardware. Any advice on where the "deal hunters" are finding these would be much appreciated!

Buying Bitmain Antminer from Alibaba

I want to order a Bitmain Antminer through Alibaba, but I’m not sure how to verify if the seller is legit. I want to avoid getting scammed or dealing with anything shady.

Does anyone know how I can properly check the company that’s selling the product?

Also, if anyone has experience buying miners and can recommend a reliable seller, I’d really appreciate it.

Scanner di rete per la ricerca di computer che stanno minando

Ciao a tutti.
Potrebbe interessare a qualcuno? O c'è qualcuno disposto ad aiutarmi per testarlo?

Started own DOGE solo pool

Finally DOGE pool was synced, i think it took 3 or 4 days, and created personal stratum web server

I did simulate block found event on web UI, but completely was not able to simulate sending fake stratum results to miner to see on its display "block found" message, this is specific thing for Scrypt protocol. Also showing "best diff" not work as i expected, i would like to see BD increased during miner work, but it stays of same value = flat, or using vardiff it something like "incremental value" of miner's work.

Dont know if it really works but it was fun.

Dashboard

can see 11 checks if all ok

and run node console commands from UI

Help

I finally decided to purchase a miner after my boss said I could put one in my office as long as I 1) Get him into mining and 2) I don’t go nuts and the miner can’t be super noticeable. I just checked the breaker box after reading stuff on here and I only have 10 amp switches. What is the best possible setup for me? I was looking at the Avalon Q but I would barely be able to run it in eco mode. I’m handy so I could theoretically add a 20 amp switch with a 20 amp outlet box right next to the panel. What do you guys think?

Starting a Mining Project

So I have the unique opportunity to modify a shipping container and fill it with about 20 to $25,000 of ASIC miners with basically free power due to pulling power from oil well flare gas generators and I was just looking for tips on what machines to buy where to buy them what kind of setup would I need I already have specifications for the Shipping container itself but and if there's any tips for maintaining these machines getting spare parts for these machines justice advice for it in general because this is the biggest cryptocurrency mining project I have done I have only done small scale home mining at my house when it was profitable but this is a very unique opportunity for me and any advice would be well appreciated And any helpful websites or resources I could use

Considering getting back into mining.

So to make this short and simple(as it is a very long, long, long story. I mined significantly back in 2012-14 with butterfly labs, early antminer/bitmain equipment in what became a very warm home office. Our house was struck by lighting, killing all of my miners and my boxes handling security and storage of coin and the cold storage wallets in the filing cabinet were also lost from the ensuing fire, by today's prices it was a multi million dollar loss and i somewhat gave up my hope.(always keep your cold storage and keys in a safety deposit box at minimum)

I recently got an offer from a family member to purchase a new miner for myself in the 1k-8k price range, but all the air cooled miners are abysmal in mining speeds and essentially just expensive lottery tickets from what i can tell now, and given im an unemployed pentester it seems like it would be fun as a project but not much more as installing 240v outlets is a cost on its own, not to mention housing jet engines inside noise wise.

Given i'm in North Carolina and supplement power with solar, i've been considering possibly an Antminer Z15 Pro or two to mine ZEC. With the power not being a huge cost, i was curious what folks here thought about it making anything. Full ROI eventually would be lovely but given how late in the game in coming back to, i don't expect it but 10-20 worth of crypto daily would be helpful. I'd love to go 800 THs back into SHA-256 but given the amount of 240v outlets i would need to install and add to my electrical box and extreme noise..until my 19 yr old moves out they will be front in center in my living room office.

I've tried steering this "gift" into something more useful or profitable(like just buying more coin on a dip) but they are stuck on the idea of me mining crypto "like i used to" so doubtful i'll be able to buy anything not crypto related which led me to zcash and other algos.

So i guess my question would be, would it be worth it? And if i can't escape this "birthday present" being mining related id like to at least try to squeeze it for a small amount of daily crypto since I don't to worry about electricity costs very much. Should i look at other Algos? Part of me says to stick with sha-256 as BTC isn't going anywhere (though the recent influx of lottery miners makes me feel like mining and pools are going to be flooded again).

I've looked just a bit into remote hosting, gone thru the thousands of companies who host your miners or rent them to you which doesn't seem profitable, seeing reports of the custom firmware / mining software on many new rigs already taking a percentage of your hashrate ala unmodified cgminer. But as i was one of the victims of GAWminers and buying mining applets, MT Gox and numerous other major crypto losses, and pool shutdowns that kept the crypto(not to mention fire and lightning) - i remain super hesitant to dive back into this.

So any feedback would be incredibly welcome. I've been considering running a node as well but the days of bitcointalk forums and people being incredibly helpful without an agenda to weasel as much money out of crypto folks as possible, im feeling like i've got months of research ahead of me to make a semi sound decisions which honestly if i have any hopes of making anything likely need to happen now.

I apologize ahead of time for the long winded short story, just trying to regain my footing, get back to contributing to the network and possibly make a tiny bit of crypto on the side. Any links, recommendations, insults or real talk about my dumb idea and this situation, links or guides to modifications to make some of these miners possibly profitable or hardware im not aware of etc would be incredibly welcomed. Thanks and glad to be back.

Mining ETHW is now much more profitable than ETC.

As the DAG file size of ETHW has exceeded 7GB (and is projected to reach 8GB in December 2027), some miners with insufficient VRAM, such as Antminer E9 and E9Pro, experience significantly hashrate reduction and fail to achieve the miner’s rated hashrate.

So many ETHW miners switched their hashrate to ETC, you can see mining difficulty of ETHW has dropped wildly, don't miss your opportunity if your miner are able to mine ETHW.
