My cousin, the Pope, excommunicated me, but immediately agreed to lift the excommunication on condition that my daughter became a nun in Rome. Am I the only one who thinks something smell fishy here?
The Chinese Emperor must have a pretty fertile harem to have these many children.
I'm not used to seeing the AI with so many children and while the Chinese Emperor is an exception, this many kids without player intervention is rare to me.
I found this out because I was checking up on the Abbasids and I noticed the Caliph has an Asian-looking wife. Then I check her and, yep, her mother is a Chinese princess...who is also married to the Caliph. So the current Caliph married a Chinese princess, then married her daughter and made her his main wife, and then picked up two more concubines (that aren't Chinese).
I know it doesn't seem remarkable to some of y'all veteran players out there but this is something new to me and really amused me so I thought I'd share this.
Also, I am reminded that Chinese Emperors did cultivate harems to ensure a steady heir but this many Chinese notables dotting my map? A lot of eastern kingdoms must have really been cozying up to the Chinese to secure marriages to avoid getting attacked and I only noticed this now. I really should look outside of my realms more often.
Jewish Empire of Hispania done by AI.
This is one of my first CK2 screenshots. Made back in 2018, with version 2.8.X (Jade Dragon).
It happened because son and heir of the Muslim Emperor was somehow educated by their Court Physician with his culture and religion and it stayed like this for good.
As for myself, I started in 867 as Emperor Basil Makedon with the intent to restore Rome. Perhaps my 3rd or 4th campaign ever in ck2. Probably the first one to become successful. Easy difficulty, no ironman xD. Generic game settings - Black Death screwed us royally but I still made it through.
EDIT: No, actually it was not quite successful. I just had a flashback. After I restored SPQR borders, the Aztec came and ruined me xD.
New player
I am a New player. I have watched some tutorials videos in youtube, but still have some problems. I find difficult to understand a few things in this game, and I would apreciate if you guys could please give me some advices.
Now that I've mended the schism, what happens if I convert to Catholic and spread it to be the majority?
Pretty much the title. My bloodline has a lot of +catholic perks and I'm wondering what would happen if while the world is in turmoil I just switch back to Catholic once I retore Rome.
edit: My goal is for religion to just have no real value. I want to be able to be Catholic as a young ruler so I can have kids with the Catholic bloodlines, but then switch over and play with various warrior lodge bloodlines at will without anyone hating me, or beng able to call crusades, etc.
e2: I did it. Nothing seems to have happened of any note. Life is good?
e3: Yeah being Rome is awesome, and being a Catholic heretic is also awesome. This has to be the most stable political arrangement in the entire game. It's amazing. No factions, tons of troops, no drama. I'm so popular with the entire realm, whether they're Orthodox or Catholic, or any sort of Christian that it's just silly. Inheritance is so easy now.
She has been Empress since she was 16, and has been barren like all of her genius sisters until now. I have no idea who the father is.
imgur.comNever seen this happen before to the AI
Also Norse Ireland just reformed their faith. African pagans could've done it too but they didn't for whatever reason
Khazar culture + Muslim + merchant republic = $$$?
Radhanite buildings in silk road trade posts and increased tax revenue from low decadence
Is this a normal item to find?
I've never found this before, has anyone else ever discovered something like this?
I always have these dark whispers of converting into a Catholic Ashkenazi or Arab
I am a slave to the meta and every time i'm not playing a gavelkind-only/meme Pagan I find myself almost instantly converting to Catholic (or its heresies) because Crusades are OP for free money, artifacts, and CBs into Silk Road trade posts.
Even WHEN I play other religions I temporarily convert to Catholic to join ongoing crusades to get me some land and bloodlines. I had an Abbasid doge who was the Shia, Sunni, and Yazidi Caliph/Sheikh (in that sequence) and a 2-time crusader (also latin emperor) in the same lifetime. He and his entire family are also Ashkenazis for reasons that will be mentioned.
I have about 3000 hours in this game and about a total 6 of that has been spent as a Nestorian Tamil with the other branches of Christianity not even logging at least an hour.
Speaking of Cultures, about a generation in (or less) I start getting some thoughts of "maybe I should kidnap that jew or arab so I can force him to educate my kids in his cultures now". Why? The meta is Ashkenazi/Sephardi for the extra Silk Road Trade post buildings (Radhanite Quarters) and Arab for the excellent camel retinue.
I see these screenies on the reddits of people playing Han characters and I keep saying things like why not just play a Jewish Tangut who has better retinues and then I stop and ask myself what the fuck is wrong with me.
THAT PERSON is having the time of their lives claiming the Mandate of Heaven in West Africa while i'm here miserable expending a large amount of energy making a Sephardi Karling Antioch
Thank goodness the game has Nomads that I can burn down the world with so I can detox
Should we continue with Medieval Mondays?
I am asking this question because of very low interest in that themed day.
it's probably not fair to compare Lady Shouying to her own Mother
but god damn
Two more creative insults during the Flyting
First one is available with the "poet" trait. The second with the "cruel" one.
PS. But what is really interesting that Poet's insults are never the same. For comparison, here is one against a shy Woman, that I posted some time ago.
