Tricities are not usually known for being a place with a lot of things going on. Having lived here for a short while but recently started to explore more, there are so many things in the area that are like IYKYK type. I have a few favorites already. What are yours?

EATERIES

CHUAN CHILI HOUSE: amazing Chinese cuisine if you don't mind spicy food

AB&AI: Hong Kong style pastry done right, the dough is very airy and chewy.

POURQUOI PAS: divine pastry and desserts. Their chocolate passion fruit cake is to die for.

LA RUOTA: this place has amazing pizza, chewy and this crust, with fresh toppings.

SPACCA NAPOLI: well you guys probably heard of this one already. Award-winning pizza, their tiramisu is an experience.

VASHTI ROSE ICE CREAM: amazing dairy and vegan ice cream.

HANSOL: authentic Korean food outside of Ktown.

Speaking of which, K-TOWN

PARKS

MUNDY, LAFARGE LAKE, COMO LAKE, BLUE MOUNTAIN. Did I miss any?

Had to get some blood work done so I tried to book an appointment online. The appointment schedule said there was no appointments available until 2027. Obviously it was some kind of glitch so I called in to find out what was going on and the person that answered the phone told me that he works under the same system and he couldn't actually book me an appointment and I should call back tomorrow or try the website tomorrow but if it is doing the same thing I would need to have to contact tech support blah blah blah...

Are you kidding me?

The good news is, I found an alternative. I'm sure some of you know this already but you can get lab work done at Royal Columbian Hospital. I went to the appointment booking website online and booked an appointment in about 2 minutes. My appointment was scheduled for 3:10 p.m. I walked out it was 3:12. No hassle, no calls to tech support, no glitched website. Just got the blood work done in a timely manner. I should also add that the nurse that took my blood was phenomenal! I didn't feel a bloody thing no pun intended.

I should also mention I understand this is not Coquitlam.Royal Columbian Hospital is located in new west however it is very close for some Coquitlam residents. I thought it might be worth mentioning to this sub if some of you have dealt with the frustrations I have with Life Labs

Bingsoo (Korean Shaved Ice) around Coquitlam Centre?

I really miss Snowy Village on Pinetree and I am craving bingsoo. Are all the remaining spots (besides Cup Full in Henderson Food Court) around Burquitlam?

I was on my balcony today when I noticed someone has rat traps on the outside of theirs. This is super high up so I’m assuming they’re using it for the pigeons. There’s no way that’s allowed right? It’s super inhumane for the birds and also a hazard right? Where should I report this?

May 4 @5:40pm
Was driving along pipeline towards Lincoln and there was a vehicle turning left into a residential street. The right lane has parked cars from the park and school so I wait patiently. Meanwhile a lady with pink hair behind me in a Vinfast black suv was flashing and trying to make me squeeze through between the parked cars and the car turning left. Honestly there’s not much room. She was losing it behind me in her car and then after the car turned left, she sped by me and another vehicle and turned right onto Lincoln.

Just needed to rant because I can’t believe how she couldn’t wait literally 10 seconds without losing it. She makes the roads so dangerous to drive on.

Please slow down, take it easy… you really don’t know what the person in front of you or around you is dealing with. Just be kind.

Easy hiking trails with a preschooler

Hi everyone!

I’m fairly new to the Coquitlam area and with the weather being warmer these days I want to go to a few trails with my preschooler. He is fairly active but has a broken arm in a sling at the moment.

We have been given the green light by the specialist to go hiking, provided he is not going to be going on steep hills that will increase risk of falling and possibly damage the cast as well.

I am a complete beginner when it comes to bringing a little one to a trail. What is a fairly flat, easy hiking trail to bring a preschooler? I would say 1-2 hours tops in terms of length and also if it’s just a small group if we need to watch for bears on certain trials and how to prepare for that?

Thanks in advance!

Archery Class/Shooting Range

Would you happen to know where my wife and I can take archery classes and hopefully go somewhere every now and then to shoot at targets? Preferably indoors, but outdoors work too!

I came across something pretty frustrating at the end of this trail yesterday around 6pm, someone dumped a washing machine (or dryer) there.

I didn’t record anything or get a license plate, but I did notice another person nearby with their phone, so they might have caught more details.

This kind of dumping ruins the space for everyone. Trails aren’t landfills, and it’s not okay to treat them like one.

If anyone saw anything or has info, it’d be worth reporting so this doesn’t keep happening.

Where I get reasonably-priced Diatomaceous Earth?

House got any problem and would like to try DE. Reasonable price for a pound should be $4-$7 but the ones I can find at hardware stores or super stores are advertised as pest control and sold at $15+ for only 200g.

Is there any store that are carrying/selling DE in bulk. I do not want to pay $10 more just for the “beautiful” bottle.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

My car was hit while parked at Coquitlam Centre and the driver left without leaving any info. I’m hoping someone might have seen something.

Details:

- Location: Coquitlam Centre parking lot

- Date: April 30 Thursday

- Time: roughly between 2:15 to 5:30 pm

- My car: White Audi SUV

- Damage: Scratches with red paint transfer near the rear wheel area

It looks like the other vehicle was red, possibly brushed against my car while parking or leaving.

If anyone saw anything, has dashcam footage, or remembers a red vehicle hitting a parked car, I’d really appreciate you reaching out.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about hosting a small beginner‑friendly cyanotype workshop in the Coquitlam area and wanted to see if anyone would be interested.

Cyanotype is a super fun, relaxing process where you use sunlight to create beautiful blue‑and‑white prints using leaves, flowers, lace, or objects. It’s beginner‑friendly, very hands‑on, and you get to take home your own prints.

I’m planning something small and chill, maybe 5-6 people where I provide:

  • All materials (pre‑coated paper or fabric, tools, acrylic sheets, etc.)
  • A step‑by‑step demo
  • Time to create multiple prints
  • Tips for experimenting with botanicals and composition

It would likely be a paid workshop (to cover materials + time), but I want to check interest first before setting a date, price, or location.

If this sounds like something you’d want to join, let me know as this will be my first time hosting a workshop so nervous!
