Hey everyone! I'm sure you've seen the old graphic that circulates consistently for the Annihilation Era reading order. I've been wanting to make some of my own updates for a while, and finally did so. Some of the primary changes:
- Issue naming now matches Marvel Unlimited
- Updated issue ordering and selection in a few sections
- Design update
Big thanks to the original anonymous creators, along with @ Thom, and a few others on the Marvel Unlimited Community discord! If you're looking for a place to talk comics, and especially read this order, feel free to come join us over at https://discord.gg/8rrepgK3bB!
I've been told that previous graphics can look blurry for some, so here's a direct image link - https://i.postimg.cc/8pfMvNdN/Annihilation-Reading-Order-Graphic-Reading-Order-Graphic-PNG-288.jpg
And if you'd like to view the Google Sheet directly (with a text-only order on the second tab), here's the link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fOtlBe1KVPqvnyFCNLeisoeaT616s7B0Wga4xcSFhJY/edit?usp=sharing
Edit: fun update, I accidentally clipped out a row. The spreadsheet is up to date, and I'll be updating the graphic, but Guardians of the Galaxy (2008) #7-12 should be in the War of Kings column between Secret Invasion: Inhumans and Secret Invasion: War of Kings 😞
Breakout (2005) Reading Order - New Avengers
After one of the worst days team ever faced, the Avengers decided to disband during ‘Avengers Disassembled’. But a breakout at a super-prison for super-bad guys will bring a number of costumed heroes together to combat it. Maybe it’s a sign that we need a team of New Avengers…
The New 52: Futures End (2014-2015) Reading Order - DC Comics
The event promised to bring future Batman(Terry McGinnis of Batman Beyond fame) into the mainstream DC Universe. Instead it brought him five years into the future of the DCU with a mission to prevent the sentient Brother Eye computer from taking control of Earth. While the Futures End timeline would ultimately be completely diverted (spoilers again!), the event’s true antagonist would go on to become a key-player in the next DC event… CONVERGENCE (2015) which would prove to be the true sequel to WORLD’S END (2014-2015). The fate of ‘Batman Beyond’ wasn’t quite what readers were hoping for, either.
Where to start invincible comics?
Just finished invincible season 4 and I want to start comics... Should I start from beginning or just continue the story from season 4?
Hulk Reading Order, 1987-1992: The Peter David Era I - Marvel Comics
Now, I’ll admit, the initial issues aren’t necessarily the strongest. Peter picked up a number of Al Milgrom’s dangling plot threads after he left the title. But it starts moving in the right direction when the Hulk has his first rematch with Wolverine (as drawn by Todd McFarlane in Incredible Hulk #330-345). Jeff Purves provides the art when the Hulk becomes an enforcer in Las Vegas (#347-361) before Dale Keown hops on as regular artist (#367-398), ihelping Peter David redefine the Hulk and bring the series to a whole new level of incredible.
Ive been a star wars fan my whole life but never touched the comics, only movies and shows. I keep seeing people mention the darth vader runs and high republic and doctor aphra but I dont know whats worth reading vs whats just mid, and I definitely dont want to start with something that requires knowing 50 issues of context. What are the absolute must reads for someone coming in fresh, and whats the best way to read them digitally?
The Authority rose from the ashes of StormWatch, with Warren Ellis repackaging concepts and characters introduced in the cancelled series – including Jenny Sparks, the Engineer, the Doctor, Midnighter, Apollo, the Bleed, etc – and bringing them kicking, screaming and rabble-rousing into the new millennium. Punching out teeth and taking no prisoners, the Authority are here to save the world by any means necessary.
The comics that influenced the core stories from the MCU films and TV shows to date, including the Netflix, ABC and other relevant TV shows. This isn’t about hitting every little reference, it’s a guide to the key events from the comic universe of Earth-616 that inspired the events on Earth-199999, the MCU (don’t listen to Mysterio – he lies!) And it’s all in chronological order based on when events took place in the comics!
