Should I skip OMSM? Need advice

So I’m giving my exam this June, and I have to sit for both groups—otherwise my mom will literally kick me out of the house.

Here’s the situation: I’m behind in FMDA and OMSM. The other subjects (MA and CA) just need revision. Since time is really tight, I’m thinking of focusing on FMDA and leaving OMSM.

My questions:

- If I score 60+ in MA, CA, and FMDA but don’t attend the OMSM exam, will I still get exemptions in those 3 subjects?

- Or do I have to at least show up for all exams (even if I just sit there for OMSM) to be eligible for exemptions?

Also, I’m planning to start articleship after June. I’ve heard people getting ₹20–30k/month, which I really need because I want financial independence ASAP.

But will having a fail in one subject hurt my chances? Like, will companies reject my CV straight up, or do they mainly care about overall performance?

Would really appreciate some honest advice 🙏

CMA Final DT – Fast Track vs Regular (BB Sir) Need honest advice

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing for CMA Final Direct Tax (first attempt) and I’m confused about whether to go for fast track or regular batch (BB Sir).

My situation:

  • This is my first time studying DT at final level
  • I have decent understanding from Inter, but not very strong

My current thought process:

  • Take fast track to save time
  • Use that time for practice + multiple revisions + PYQs
  • After exams (or selectively during prep), cover weak areas in depth if needed

But I’m worried:

  • Will I miss important conceptual depth?
  • Is fast track risky for first-time learners?
  • Does regular batch actually translate into better marks, or just more time spent?

What I want from you:

  • If you’ve taken fast track, did you feel ?
  • If you took regular, was the extra time worth it?
  • What actually helped you score in DT: teaching or revision/practice?

Be brutally honest—don’t sugarcoat. I’d rather hear hard truths than regret later.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Mann hi nahi lagg raha

I have done my classes, did 1 time revision, gave 1 full fledged mocks for both groups which got ended yesterday. And now I just don't have the motivation to study. My accounts, omsm, management accounting papers didn't go good, especially management accounting last paper went so bad, was feeling dumb throughout the whole paper. And now I just don't feel like studying, getting distracted and irritated at every small small things which was not the case earlier. The whole exam stress is being heavy on me. How are you guys handling with it.

The best study management tool 📚, Download my app Maarg for 🆓

Hey everyone,

This is actually an followup post of my pervious post from another account 2 months ago (check pinned comment if you want)

I’m a CMA student and while preparing for exams I kept running into the same problem: managing syllabus, tracking progress, and planning revisions across different subjects and always felt like a lone worrier, no motivation, no consistency, no one to keep me accountable.

Mission - To save time on planning, tracking and evaluating your performance through pre-loading syllabus, automation & detailed analytics. We are building an environment which helps you be consistent with your studies & keep you and your friends accountable.

It has following main features -

Syllabus management - choose a course/level and your subjects, chapters, topics & sub-topics inside will be loaded! And now you can track/manage them with just one click!

Chapter card - once you complete all topics of a chapter, the chapter card automatically becomes a revision card, giving you revision due dates and notify you when revision is due, based on spaced repetition technique. This is the most unique feature the app has.

Profile - it shows insight of your preparation eg. top 3 strongest subjects, success rate, retention rate, followers/following, outcome based badges as achievements.., and yeah its all public, you and your friends can see each others profile, sparking a healthy competitiveness among each others.

Focus screen - you and your friends can focus here together while live chatting after joining a focus room, keeping each others accountable.

Outcome based measurements - the success rate is an outcome based rate generate to give you an estimated % about your passing chance in the exam, its based on your syllabus completion%, revision completion% and days left to exam, it gives a sense of FOMO when the success rate drops and gives a dopamine hit & motivation when the rate increases, keeping you always stick to studying daily!.

Task list - to schedule your study tasks in advance and even your personal tasks.

Advance analytics - apart from general analytics it has features as syllabus completion% (see subject wise completion%), study stats (see how much time you have spent in each chapter & compare with your targeted time set), revision stats (see how much time you spent in each chapter for each revision).

Triggering notifications - app’s notifications gives s good FOMO reminding you, when success rate drops/increase, when your friends complete a chapter/subject, when your friend/group is studying etc...

Many more - Mark A/B/C Priority to each chapter, send a reminder to your friend to study together via profile, every study sessions are being tracked! For evaluation of your preparation.

Currently i have added syllabus index/content for CA, CMA, CS (no CSEET) & JEE, enough for testing phase, Also all the content is generated by high-end Ai modals but still i doubt accuracy will be 85-90% same, but anyways you van easily add/edit/delete everything easily.

TL;DR: Currently doing CMA India Inter Group 1. Thinking of starting CMA USA after Inter 1 so I can become job-ready, start earning earlier, and continue CMA India later alongside work. Want honest advice on whether this is a smart path for MNC finance + better salary growth + abroad later.

I’m 22, finishing B.Com (Hons/Research) this year and currently preparing for CMA India Inter Group 1.

Right now my plan is not to drop CMA India, but I’ve been seriously considering starting CMA USA after Inter Group 1 because I want to get job-ready and settle earlier, then continue CMA India alongside/after that.

Long-term goal:

high-growth corporate finance career, work in an MNC, earn early, and later move abroad (internal transfer or MBA if needed).

I’m not interested in audit-heavy / tax-heavy roles.

More interested in:

FP&A, Financial Analyst, Business Finance, Corporate Finance.

What I’m trying to understand from people who’ve actually done this route:

  1. Has anyone here done CMA India (Inter) + CMA USA together?

  2. Is this a practical path if the goal is to become job-ready earlier and start earning sooner, instead of waiting years to finish CMA India completely?

  3. For MNC / corporate finance roles in India, is CMA USA enough to help land:

- Financial Analyst

- FP&A

- Business Finance roles

while continuing CMA India in parallel?

  1. What salary should someone realistically expect in India with:

- B.Com + CMA India Inter + CMA USA (fresh)

- after 2–3 years

- after 4–5 years

  1. Did starting CMA USA early help you settle faster / enter corporate faster?

  2. If the long-term goal is abroad later, did this combination help?

I’m trying to understand whether this is a smart “earn early + continue building” route, or whether it becomes too messy to manage in practice.

Would really appreciate honest real-world answers from people who’ve actually done this, not coaching sales pitches.

I’m a CMA student (22/M) and while preparing for exams I kept running into the same problem: managing syllabus, tracking progress, and planning revisions across different subjects and always felt like a lone worrier, no motivation, no consistency, no one to keep me accountable.

I have sacrificed about 6-7 months to build this app, after clearing inter i was full into this! And am not even doing internship.

Campus Placement- Dec 2025

Just checked the JDs for companies coming through ICMAI campus placement, and I’m genuinely confused.

A lot of them are asking for 3–5 years of experience.

Isn’t this supposed to be a campus drive for freshers (or at least people just finishing CMA)? Most of us are either doing articleship or are fresh out of it. How are we supposed to have 3–5 years of “relevant experience”?

Do companies actually relax these requirements during interviews, or is this just a filtering tactic?

Would love to hear real experiences of people who are participating in this year campus placement

Law clarification

Can I write CMA inter law in my own words while retaining concept, meaning and Keywords?

For example:

Instead of writing this ( which is present in module and is gonna be in suggested answers)

Rights of indemnity holder when sued

Section 125 provides the rights of indemnity holder when sued. This section provides that the promise, in a

contract of indemnity, acting within the scope of his authority, is entitled to recover from the promisor-

1.) all damages which he may be compelled to pay in any suit in respect of any matter to which the promise to

indemnify applies;

2.) all costs which he may be compelled to pay in any such suit if, in bringing or defending it, he did not

contravene the orders of the promisor, and acted as it would have been prudent for him to act in the absence

of any contract of indemnity, or if the promisor authorized him to bring or defend the suit;

3.)all the sums which he may have paid under the terms of any compromise of any such suit, if the compromise

was not contrary to the orders of the promisor, and was one which it would have been prudent for the promise

to make in the absence of any contract of indemnity, or if the promisor authorized him to compromise the

suit.

This section is not exhaustive and does not set out all the reliefs which an indemnity holder who has been sued

may get. It leaves untouched certain equitable reliefs which he may get. The rights of the indemnity holder are

not confined to those mentioned in this section. Even before damage is incurred, it is open to him to sue for the

specific performance of the contract of indemnity, provided that it is show, that an absolute liability has been

incurred by him and that the contract of indemnity covers the said liability.

In ‘Pepin V. Chandra Seekur’, ILR 5 Cal. 811 it was held that in the case of contract of indemnity, the liability

of the party indemnified to a third person is not only contemplated at the time of indemnity, but is the very

moving cause of that contract and in case of such a nature, the costs reasonably incurred in resisting or reducing

or ascertaining the claim may be recovered.

Can I write like this?

Rights of Indemnity Holder when Sued (Section 125)

Section 125 provides that the indemnity holder (promisee), acting within the scope of his authority, is entitled to recover from the promisor the following amounts:

  1. All Damages

The indemnity holder can recover all damages which he is compelled to pay in any suit relating to the matter covered by the contract of indemnity.

  1. All Costs of Suit

He can recover all legal costs incurred in bringing or defending the suit, provided:

He did not contravene the orders of the promisor, and

Acted prudently as a reasonable person would

  1. All Sums Paid in Compromise

He can recover all amounts paid in settlement, if:

The compromise was not against the orders of the promisor, and

It was prudent, and

It was made with the promisor’s consent

Section 125 is not exhaustive . other equitable reliefs may also be available

Relevant case law: Pepin V. Chandra seekur

Will I atleast get 5 out of 7???
