with the recent sky Ferreira stuff, I feel like old "problematic" things about charli are being dragged up again. Many of these I can't defend lmao, which is fine, I just love her music, I don't need to know or like her as a person. I also know that as fans on the outside we won't know the full story of these things.

But even in a strictly narrative way, it really bothers me when people say "mean girls" glamorized Dasha because in my opinion it really doesn't? It's bothering me because it's a part of the wider trend of media illiteracy you see everywhere online, whereby fans believe choosing to cover a certain subject in music/movies/tv means you are fully behind that subject. You can write about bad things/bad people as a subject of a song without necessarily supporting everything they do. I think Dasha is actually a very interest subject musically- going from internet IT girl to being universally hated is something probably very familiar to Charli due to her circle. She's a crazy racist person with a weird trajectory but I think that exactly fits the kind of persona Charli was trying to explore with brat - weird, complicated women who don't fit neatly into boxes. I don't think the song paints her in a good light at all, and could be about any of these dead eyed it girls that people love to hate as much as any other. Obviously, because of fan culture, her making a song became -> glorifying Dasha -> being present day friends with with her -> agreeing with all of her political opinions. I could agree with these people that it's maybe "problematic" (if true) for charli to surround herself with these people, I couldn't agree with their assertion that BECAUSE she wrote a song about her, she agrees with her.

What do you guys think? Do you think Mean girls glorifies dasha?

Charli has yet to reply, and her team confirms she is currently in Kyoto filming a movie and finishing her forthcoming new studio album. When asked for comment, her management team shared the following statement with Billboard:

“Charli has made seven albums, four mixtapes and one EP, and has written countless songs for other artists throughout her career. She began as a songwriter with ‘I Love It,’ and her work has been recorded by and pitched to multiple artists. She has her own personal history with publishing and production negotiations and because of this, she always shares credits fairly and appropriately, and values her collaborators tremendously.

“Ahead of the Wuthering Heights album release, a standard review process was conducted on a small number of tracks from the album, including fragments of material originating from earlier sessions. This process involved managers, legal representatives, artists and producers, and included a thorough review of archival materials and demo recordings.

“All relevant parties were consulted throughout, and the album was played in full in advance of release to everyone. Songwriting credits and splits were determined and agreed collectively in writing, with reference to documented timelines and contributions.

“All credits were finalized and formally approved by the appropriate parties prior to the album’s release.”

For me it’s a toss up between Brooke Candy’s “you were my Chris Brown, I was your only girl” in Cloud Aura (obviously aged so poorly)

and “maybe the sky might not always be blue, all of my wishes may never come true” from Official. Not because it’s THAT bad of a lyric on its own, but after a song full of highly specific and heartfelt lyrics it just feels generic/silly to me.

- Charli has already admitted to calling the paps on herself and this is simply one step away from that

- this will be their girl so confusing moment

- expect imminent public activity from the both of them

Now having finished listening through her 2012 releases, I learned something about love. Even someone as beautiful, desirable, outgoing, and famous as Charli has fallen in love several times-- been wrong several times-- thought she found the one several times-- and only just found her "baby" in the last couple of years, who she didnt meet until she was 29.

This is even more glaring when listening to RAYE's discography, which is even more blatantly transparent on how incorrect we really thought our soulmates/forevers are. She is now 29.

This is even MORE glaring when listening to Lana's discography, as you know she didnt find her would-be husband until she was 34.

I am turning 30 this year and do not have my husband. I thought I did, oh yes I really did. Do we all do this? There may be hope, like RAYE says, but I am so tired.

She was kinda distant and standoffish and when I leaned against her to comfort her when she was feeling sad she pushed me away lol. I asked “If I can ask have you been making any music lately?” and she said “I made 3 songs over the past 3 days.” Then she left and I left like sad for the way she treated me and happy I met Charli.
