Back in the day deepika was the biggest female star.
Akshay Kumar is the most overrated superstar in this history of Indian cinema
This opinion is purely based on box office. Let’s get the facts straight -
He has never delivered a highest grossing film of the year in his entire 30+ years in cinema. He’s gotten close twice. 2007 and 2021. He does have 2.0…but let’s be real that was due to Rajnikanth.
He has over and over again under performed at the box office his whole career.
2007 - Welcome was number 2 position with 122 crore. Heyy Baby 6th was 84 crore, BB 8th was 83 crore and Namastey London 9th was 71.4 crore. Combined that’s 360 crore and 90 crore per film average. Srk in the same year delivers Om Shanti Om (highest grosser of the year) 152 crore and Chak De with 109 crore. Combined 261 crore and 130 crore per film average. Yes he had 4 hits. But even at his absolute peak he couldn’t become number 1
2019 - another year everyone talks about. All 3 of his “huge” movies were outside the top 5. In that same year Salman Khans Bharat made 325 crore which was higher than any of AK movies but that movie is seen as a flop basically.
Akshay Kumar has benefitted from his average movies being considered way higher than what they actually made at the box office. Whereas actors who deliver 200-300 crore films regularly can be seen as flop actors. There is a double standard with him.
Yes, he has some memorable films that everyone talks about. However, when you go look in the past at those films you will realize, most failed to deliver at the box office.
