Darfield and Mitchell

Been speaking to quite a few fishermen and I’m hearing the darfield pond has gone down hill , double in price , added more rules and the bailiffs are rude and just not worth it because of low catch rate . Is this true? I was hoping to get a good session in but I’m not hearing good things about it. Would this discourage the youth if more ponds head this way? Any help would be great thanks .

I filmed a short cinematic piece on the old Silkstone Waggonway in Yorkshire an early wagonway that helped move coal long before modern railways took over.

What fascinates me is how these places just disappear into the landscape. Most people walk this path now without realising what it once was.

Been experimenting with blending urban exploration, local history, and cinematic filmmaking into short-form videos. Curious what people here think. I've got a few videos up on my channel, I won't shamefully leave it here but I will post a link to my video.

Today the 7th May local elections are being held; polls will be open until late in the evening.

I'm trying to canvass opinion online. How will people be voting?

Please remember, your vote always matters.

Summarised overview

The Renters’ Rights Act became enforceable nationally from Friday 1 May.

Designed to create a fairer, more stable system for both tenants and landlords, including stronger rights to protect and support renters, key changes under this new legislation include:

  • An end to Section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions.
  • All tenancies becoming rolling tenancies, including existing arrangements.
  • Fairer rules on rent increases.
  • Stronger rules to stop bidding wars and excessive upfront payments.
  • New anti-discrimination protections.
  • Stronger rights for tenants looking to keep pets.

In the future, new national schemes like a private rented sector database and mandatory ombudsman for all landlords will continue to strengthen tenant protections.
