I have 4 rosy barbs, they’re in a temporary 4 gallon tank and will be upgraded to a Tetra StarterLine 80L tank, I was planning to get one more barb because they school, but chatgpt says its safe for 6, google says 6 is pushing it, my rosy barbs are slightly stunted but should grow, and they are classed as aquarium/captive, so is 6 pushing it or is 6 okay guys?

I purchased these two barbs to add to a school in a 40g and I believe they are females but it feels like the more I stare, the more I question it. I know the pics aren’t the best but I’m wondering if anyone can weigh in? New to barbs but I’ve researched and know the females are more rounded but still question myself. I’ll add some short videos in the comments too.

My mom, who knows nothing about fish, went with me to buy them and kept cracking me up referring to them as Ham and Cheese so it kind of stuck!

PS They are currently and only temporarily, in quarantine in a tank I use as a hospital and plant/culture nursery, so please don’t worry for their futures!

Went to my tank and saw these bumps on this girl's face. Perfectly symmetrical in spacing but weirdly shaped. Are these normal, or is it some kind of disease? Her tail's also a bit ripped but I'm chalking that up to nipping (I have been monitoring them and she doesn't seem too harassed, but definitely shier than the others), but if I'm wrong please let me know. Thanks in advance, still pretty new to keeping cherry barbs

I got fish for the first time ever 5 days ago, i read that you should have about 6 or more rosy barbs in a tank so i got exactly 6. I put them in my tank and all was going well until i woke up on day three to one of my fish laying on the floor with what looked like blood specs throughout her body, (she was acting a bit funny and wasnt swimming correctly since i had gotten her) and when i had checked, she was dead. After i removed her from the tank, the other 5 fish where fine, they where eating and swimming, this morning everything was okay, but i just checked on my fish and one had suddenly died and was lying on the floor, i scooped her out but nothing seemed of on her body, i did a water check and everything was fine. Did she possibly die because there were only 4 other fish for her to be with? Should i get more Rosy Barbs for my tank?
