Astoria to Brooklyn commute on weekends/nights

Been seriously looking at moving to Astoria within the past few, seems like a really wonderful area. While I work in manhattan a lot of friends live in the williamsburg/bushwick/ridgewood area and I find myself there often on weekends. Was curious about peoples' experience going out in that area while living in astoria. Is the NWR/M to the L that inconvenient when trying to meet up with friends? How is it on the way home? Do you ever take the G up to the 7 then make your way from there? Is uber a big part of your life? Any advice/info would be much appreciated, thanks

Lidl Parking?

What’s with every single spot being taken on the Lidl lot? There no way there’s that many people actually shopping here… took me like 10 minutes to find parking

Need a Notary public in Astoria

Neither UPS location has a notary anymore and I can’t get anyone from TD bank on the phone to see if they have a notary.

I tried a few pharmacies that people have mentioned in the past but no luck either.

Please help me out here. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Needs to be open after 5pm weekdays or on Weekends.

La Guli Closed? Again?

I passed La Guli today and there was a DOHMH notice on the door that they were closed. Is this a yearly thing with them? Anyone know what’s going on?

Adult swimming lessons?

I've been putting off learning how to swim for a while now and think it's time for me to take the leap as summer is approaching. Anyone know of a place that offers adult swimming lessons in Astoria or even Manhattan?

ConED Question

I just moved back to Astoria after 2 years away. I'm living in a building that was constructed in 2021, so it is pretty modern.

Why is my gas bill so high? Is this normal? Per my lease, heat (gas) is included. I barely cook.

Electricity charges - for 28 days $54.35

Gas charges - for 40 days $236.72

Thanks for all of your replies! Update:

I called ConEd. They told me there is a meter (in the basement; I don't have access) and I am being charged for heat/hot water. My lease clearly states that heat and hot water are included in the rent. I called the landlady (she's a rich bitch who owns the building but lives in Texas). She said they only "provide" it; we apparently have to pay for it. She is "sorry for the confusion." She offered to cover next month's rent to make up for it. I called 311, and they said I can file a complaint against the landlady. I don't want to start a war over this: I just moved in on March 1 (this is not a rent stabilized apartment). I agreed to take the 1 month rent deduction because that's probably the only money I'll see. I've lived in NYC since 1993 (never on a lease, mostly with friends/roommates), and this is the first apartment I've lived in where I've been charged for heat/hot water. I am massively pissed. I will be moving when my lease is up.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm hosting my second jewelry swap at Heaven & Earth in Greenpoint. Bring old jewelry you no longer wear and swap it with something new! Also, I've only hosted in Brooklyn but would anyone be interested in this event in Astoria?
