[Discussion] any trippy or hypnotic horror asmr?

Like lunablooms "error: corrupted file" asmr or somnialsounds "border of consciousness". Really like the trippy chaotic unorganized pacing and editing. Dosnt necessarily have to be horror either but its a bonus, I like talking/whispering and shifts between slow and fast triggers

[Discussion] On the current state of ASMR

Hey everyone,

I hope it's okay for me to post some of my gloomy feelings here. I'm feeling absolutely heartbroken about ASMR, and I'd love to discuss with others. As I'm sure many of you can relate, I don't have anyone in real life that I can discuss ASMR with.

For some background, I've been listening to ASMR since I was around 14, and I'm 25 now. I wanted to make ASMR videos for a long time, and finally started doing that at the beginning of last year. ASMR helped me through some really tough times, and I wanted to be a part of a community that helps people in calm and creative ways. But I quickly learned how hard it would be to keep up with a YouTube channel (re: pleasing the algorithm), especially when I started a full-time job (I stopped making videos a couple months ago). Anyway, this isn't about my channel specifically. Just know that I understand what it's like from a creator and a viewer standpoint. This post is more about the ASMR genre as a whole.

This year, I've seen an influx of AI-generated ASMR and videos labeled as ASMR that are very clearly not ASMR. I feel like "ASMR" became a sort of catch-all label for people to get clicks and views. I know this isn't new. But on top of that, a lot of creators that I love have either openly quit or disappeared within the past year. And some creators that I love are turning to more clickbait-y stuff.

I know we're all out here trying to fight the algorithm and some are trying to reach monetization. I'm not hating on anyone. I just feel sad.

Again, I know this isn't new. It's just hitting hard for me right now and I'm wondering: Is anyone else feeling this?

If I could describe in one word how the ASMR genre feels to me right now, I'd say: disconnected.

Thank you for your time.

[Discussion] Research on ASMR and Tulpamancy covered in The Psychologist by the British Psychological Society

Hi everyone,

I posted on here about 5 years ago about a research study I was putting together that included ASMR. We published the findings about 4 years ago: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13546805.2021.1999798

I was able to write about it for The Psychologist which is the magazine from The British Psychological Society. A few of my words were edited but I hope I managed to capture the research well. Thank you again to everyone who took part.

[Discussion] Can someone explain ASMR and its appeal to me?

I recently had someone whisper ASMR to me in a sexual situation, and I’m curious if someone could explain what its appeal is (sexual or otherwise) and anything that someone unfamiliar with it would benefit from knowing. Should I assume it’s something he’s interested in if he made a point of doing it? How does one get into ASMR from not knowing much about it? Links or examples welcome. Thank you.

[Discussion] Would a soft wearable robot that breathes feel as calming as ASMR to you

I'm a designer working on a soft robotic garment that breathes on its own — slowly, rhythmically, against your body. The gentle rise and fall of the fabric, the subtle warmth, the quiet pulse.

It made me think about ASMR — the way certain sounds and sensations can quietly calm your nervous system without asking anything from you.

This is the same idea, but physical and wearable. No screen, no audio. Just sensation.

I'm curious — do you think tactile rhythm (breathing, warmth, pulse against your body) could trigger the same kind of calm as ASMR? Or is it a completely different experience for you?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

ASMR where the viewer isn’t human [Discussion]

Does anybody have any good recommendations for videos where the viewer isn’t human or is a cryptid? I kinda enjoy the ones where we’re like a skinwalker or something and the person slowly figures it out but I can’t find many good ones. If you have any please are the link, title and platform, or the name of the creator please. I would greatly appreciate it.

What’s your FAV ASMR trigger you know others HATE?? [discussion]

What’s something that you just can’t get enough of but you know is either controversial or just not super popular? I’m really curious if there are any very niche triggers out there!

I think mine would have to be asmr with background music! 🎶

What is this scratching trigger I keep craving? [Question]

I love scratching. There's a trigger I keep craving deep in my soul and I don't know what it is. I've tried different videos where people scratch trees, concrete, steel wool, bare mic, scratching post, carpet and they ALMOST meet the craving. The scratching is not "deep" enough but the closest I think is bare mic and rarely some wood scratching. Please give me ideas or you own triggers.

[question] How to connect Blue yeti USB to my iphone?

I haven't bought the blue yeti because I have this question, I saw on Amazon that you can't connect the mic to iphone but here some comments say you can, so how do I do that? What adapter or USB do I need?

Also, it only comes with a USB-usb mini so I'm confused.

ASMR is becoming a CASH GRAB?? [discussion]

I’ve been creating asmr off and on for almost a year now and the thing I really struggle with is trying to find my niche. Some of the stuff I really have a passion for just don’t perform well and I get really discouraged.

I want to make stuff that people will like but I feel like it’s impossible to get my videos recognized since I have to cater to the YT algorithm still.

What’s more, I feel like the algorithm only really rewards videos that latch onto trends or clickbait titles.

Should I try to adapt to this trend or just keep trying to build my niche??
