For me, it’s paying chilled water charges and then still paying electricity to heat water.

I know there’s probably a technical explanation for both, but emotionally it still feels like being charged twice for water having a temperature.

What’s one Dubai expense that still makes you pause?

Let’s make this interesting.
You have AED 100,000 to invest ONLY within UAE options:
DFM / ADX stocks

UAE real estate (fractional or full)

Bonds / fixed income

Gold

❌ No US stocks
❌ No crypto

Your goal:
Build the best possible portfolio for next 3–5 years

Example:
40% Emaar

30% DEWA

20% ETF / Bonds

10% Cash

I will share mine once we get 10 people response.

How do i realistically get my hands on the Swatch AP collab without paying a hectic resale value

I’m tired of those resellers who take advantage of the market and make it harder on us real watch enthusiasts.

Got laid off today. Looking for other opportunities urgently

Just got laid off. I’m disheartened but I’m not done fighting yet!

Currently in the Real Estate sector and the market has dipped so bad.

I have no intention to leave any time soon as I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities UAE has given me so far.

As a copywriter I come with over a decade experience and I am willing to either pivot to Operational/Communications Executive roles (first priority) or Copywriter roles if there are any, could someone point me to the right place? I could share my CV via DM on request.

Thank you all in advance!

Hey guys, I need side hustle ideas for my background

Hey everyone, I’m 27M, based in Dubai, and I’m an architect with very good English skills. I’m at a point where I really want to build extra income and I’m willing to work hard for it, but honestly I have no idea what direction to go in. I keep seeing so many side hustle ideas online that it’s hard to know what’s actually worth doing. I’m open to doing something that helps people, builds connections and builds wealth. I just want to be able to afford my own car soon. If you were in my position, what would you focus on?

P.s - I love Dubai, it's awesome but I don't have any friends. I'm friendly and I smile but it's super lonesome so I think I can use my skills to be able to afford a good car and explore places. I'm very excited to talk to all of you on reddit. I hope you all have a great day!

How do people actually attend fashion shows? No tickets, no posts… I’m so confused 😭

Hey everyone,
I’ve been really curious about fashion shows lately (like runway shows, designer events, etc.), especially in places like Dubai

But I’m genuinely confused about one thing
HOW do people even get in?

Like:
I barely see any tickets being sold online
Many shows don’t even get posted publicly
Some people just randomly show up at shows??

And then later I see photos/videos from influencers or guests, but no info on how they got invited
So what’s the actual system here?

Is it mostly:
Invite-only?
Industry connections?
PR lists?
Or are there hidden public tickets somewhere?

Also if anyone here knows:
How do I start attending smaller/local fashion shows first?
Any websites, contacts, or platforms where these events get listed?
How do new designers or outsiders even enter this space?

I’m really interested in fashion and would love to experience a real runway show at least once, but it feels kind of “hidden” from the outside world.

If anyone has info, tips, or even contacts in the fashion show circuit, please share 🙏
Thanks in advance 🤍

What’s the biggest investing mistake you’ve made in UAE markets?

Everyone talks about winning stocks, but the best lessons usually come from mistakes.

It could be:
- Buying a stock purely because of hype

- Holding too long and missing the exit

- Ignoring diversification

- Choosing real estate at the wrong time

- Sitting in cash while markets rallied

For me, the most valuable insights often come from understanding why an investment thesis failed.
👉 What was your biggest investing mistake in UAE (DFM, ADX, real estate, or global investing from UAE)?
👉 What did you learn from it?
👉 What would you do differently today?

The goal is to help new investors avoid expensive lessons and build better long-term strategies.

Let’s join this community as will start writing some real research articles on UAE stocks.

I am quite literally a single mother to a 3 month baby boy. My husband has been detained for over 2 months now. I have been managing since then, taking care of the baby and managing the house Alhumdullilah. I have a job. But this month has become very difficult. I had my tenancy contract renewal, my SEWA is pending which if I don't pay will disconnect. My baby's 4th month vaccination is due. I still have to process his documents.

I literally just have 10 aed left with me. I need diapers for my baby I have only 4 of them left and kind of monetary help which I promise will be returned next month. I have to travel to work everyday and I use public transportation I don't even have money left for that.

I can give you any kind of proof of my authenticity.

Please reach out.

This morning while waiting at the bus stop near Qusais, an elderly gentleman approached me asking for help to buy medicine. At first, I honestly thought it might be a scam, but when he rolled up his sleeve and showed me his wound, it genuinely broke my heart.

I haven’t received my salary for the past 3 months, so I didn’t have much on me, but I still gave him my last 20 just so he could at least get that one medicine and hopefully something to eat.

His wound wasn’t even properly covered, and he told me he doesn’t have any insurance. If anyone is willing to help, I have his number. Even a small amount could make a big difference for him.
