There is a capybara in AoE 3. AoE 4 also needs capybaras.

I can already imagine them in the game (definitely not as a food resource): they would be neutral at the start, but then, when you collect them with a villager, they would give “happiness” to your villagers in the form of a 5% resource gathering rate buff, acting kinda like an HRE prelate, but with a smaller buff radius and no population cap.

Also, neither military nor economic units would be able to attack them, since capybaras are too cute.

What do you think about that?

Add button to make Towers, Castles, Docks, etc not fire.

Would useful sometimes for surprise attacks and not aggroing some units.

Why are there two versions of soundtrack in AoE 1?

Could someone explain to me why there are two versions of soundtrack in Age of Empires 1? The first version is normal, more "old-sounding" and the second version is much more modern, much more clear-sounding and it is on YouTube and in UPatch HD. Why these two exist instead of just one like normally? Is it a matter of conversion of one sound file extention to another?

Some buildings are huge and block you from clicking buildings behind. Make a button that ignores the building in front and clicks behind it.

Would be amazing. A button like alt. This could work with units and resources.

Soldier combinations in AOE1:DE

Which unit combination is better for both defense and attack. Heavy Catapult, Helepolis and Catapuract or Heavy Catapult, Helepolis and Catapuract and War Elephant. Please consider with full resources and full tech tree. 1v1 nr30 games.

AOE1:DE Strategy Advices for Oasis map.

Hi everyone. I,ve been playing AOE1:DE since january. I mostly play 1v1 nr30 in large Oasis map and beginning age is post iron age and the full tech tree. My win rate in 1v1 multiplayer games is still quite low for now. However, over the last 2–3 days, it has fortunately started to improve. I used to fall behind my opponents in terms of economy, and when they began attacking, I often didn’t have an army ready to respond.

Recently, I have slightly improved my strategy. The last game I won lasted about 50 minutes. I’d like to share some details from that match and ask for your suggestions.

I usually start the game in the post-Iron Age, meaning the full tech tree is already available. So the focus is only on building the economy and producing military units. In the first 5 minutes, I build around 6–7 Town Centers and continuously produce villagers. Then, I divide the map into two halves by building walls and towers on both sides. After that, I construct only Stables and Siege Workshops close to these walls and towers.

I try to build up armies on both sides so that I can launch attacks from two directions. The units I produce are Cavalry, Elephants, Heavy Catapults, and Helepolises. In my last game, at the 30-minute mark, I had 95 villagers while my opponent had 70. Our scores were roughly the same.

My opponent started the attack using catapults, and I responded with my own catapults. Then I broke through the walls and sent cavalry to target his catapults, but he also had towers defending them. So I pushed forward with my own catapults. In the past, I wasn’t producing units continuously and I kept losing. Now, as soon as my gold runs out, I immediately switch to producing Scythe Chariots using food and wood without stopping.

Unlike me, my opponent had ranged units and Centurions, and he kept them positioned behind his towers. I attacked the towers with catapults while protecting my siege units with cavalry. He countered with Centurions, and after a long back-and-forth of attacks and defenses, I eventually won—but it took quite a long time.

In this kind of scenario, what would your tactics be to win faster? What would you recommend?
