UPDATE

Hey guys the time uve been waiting for has come.

Following an offical update from the representative of the Qatari MOE, Pearson Edexcel examinations in the upcoming May/June 2026 session have been

CANCELLED.

I have confirmed that examinations in 5 countries have been CANCELLED. (Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Lebanon, and Kuwait).

For candidates from (Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman), dw l am currently in contact with delegations from ur MOEs and we are still discussing the situation.

I will formally update the subreddit the moment I receive anything substantial.

I have been getting many private messages asking what will happen to them.

So I’m gonna discuss the pathways here:

——-—> If your country cancelled examinations (Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Lebanon, and Kuwait) then u are gonna be graded depending on the category u are in:

CATEGORY 1: If u HAVE sat AT LEAST 15% of a subject (Meaning if you have sat at least 1 unit from an AS cash in or 2 units from an A Level cash in), something called "Enhanced grading" will be applied to calculate your grade. Let's say you are sitting AS level Biology during this session but u have already sat Unit 1 during Jan, U ARE IN THIS CATEGORY. Edexcel will use the component u sat to determine your overall grade. DW it's called "ENHANCED grading" for a reason. They will use something called PUM and they will determine a number reflecting how well you did in your first component. They will then take that number and ENHANCE it thus u will actually get a HIGHER grade.

CATEGORY 2: If u are sitting the WHOLE of a subject during this session (All of AS or Half of A-Level). Then you will be eligible for something known as the portfolio of evidence. The portfolio will consist of both primary AND secondary evidence. Ur primary evidence must contain verified examinations, mocks, tests, and etc. They will MAINLY use primary evidence, BUT secondary evidence is also important. Secondary evidence includes anything that isn't "official" or

"verified" so notes, worksheets, and etc. They will combine both types of evidence WITH your teachers prediction and they'll award you a grade.

——-—> If your country has NOT cancelled examinations (Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman), then these possible scenarios may occur:

-There is still time for boards to decide to cancel examinations in these countries so pls be prepared for any scenario. I am still in contact with the MOE in these countries and I will inform the subreddit when anything happens.

-If u end up sitting examinations, DW. Edexcel has confirmed that centers will be allowed to apply for special consideration in the case that a disadvantaged candidate sits an exam. Ur school will be encouraged to apply for special consideration for all candidates sitting during the May/June 2026 session, ur school will be required to prove that u were disadvantaged (online learning due to war, sirens, dangerous conditions, and etc). If approved (which is likely), Edexcel will add a MAXIMUM of 5% extra marks for each component in a subject.

So if ur taking all units within AS biology then they will ADD a maximum of 4 marks in U1 and U2, and 2.5 marks in U3. They will then add the components UMS and calculate ur grade. PLS APPLY FOR THIS AS IT MIGHT TRULY RAISE UR GRADE.

Hope for the best and good luck🙏🙏❤️

past papers vs ppqs

okay this is more for revsion help than ucat related but im currently on CCC for bio chem maths and need to get atleast A*AA (chat is it possible??). Ive seen so many people say to do RAG checklists and i have for all my subjects and for the past week of easter now ive been focussing on the red sectiosn by doing topic by topic questions for the ones i need. before alevels starts (55 ish days) i want to finish as much as whole past papers i can but i dont know whether to just start them now instead of topic qs.

so yeah basically should i just go to whole past papers or go over my red topics by the end of easter and then just band out whole papers? thank you

Anyone self studying further math , or does pcmfm? HELP NEEDED!

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who is self-studying Further Maths alongside Maths, Chemistry, and Physics for A-Levels (especially Pearson Edexcel International A-Levels).

I’m currently based in the Middle East, and my IGCSE exams have been cancelled, so I’ve started my A-Level revision early to get ahead. I have strong predicted grades in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry (in both my mocks I’ve received a 9 in Chemistry and Physics, with the highest in Chemistry in my year group, and for Maths I’ve been consistently close to a 9 — my first mock was an 8 and my most recent was a 9), so I’m confident managing those subjects. However, my school doesn’t offer Further Maths, so I’ve decided to self-study it with a friend.

I’ve already started looking into the content, but to be honest, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure if I’m approaching it the right way.

For those who’ve done or are doing this combination:

  • How did you structure your self-study for Further Maths?
  • Are there any topics or modules that are particularly difficult or that I should prioritise?
  • Any resources (textbooks, websites, YouTube channels) you found especially useful?
  • Is there anything you wish you knew before starting Further Maths?

Also, I’m quite confused about calculators — is there a specific model required or recommended for Edexcel IAL Maths/Further Maths?

Any advice would be appreciated. I’m trying to get ahead early, but it’s a bit stressful at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

How it feels trying to get work experience in one of the most rural parts of the UK:

No reaction image i was too lazy to find one but yeah, the title.

Not really asking for help since I managed to find 1 place to apply to thank god, and I am making it harder for myself by being an art student first and foremost. But I feel I may be at a disadvantage when all I'll be doing is helping an information desk, and my school didnt even do work experience in y10/11 for whatever reason, so I'll probably have to do a ton of courses over the summer holidays to catch up so thanks, high-school. I mean even "get a job at McDonald's for work experience" theres no McDonald's here, or any fast food at all only pubs who won't hire under 18s unless they know you.

Not only that but being so rural the amount of support is so limited. The people in my 6th form who are there to help you get into uni know nothing about art uni's and the 1 and only art teacher at my school (though she's great) went to uni so long ago the process has changed entierly and she doesn't remember it at all.

All I'm praying is that my fluency in welsh will help me stand out a little since I'm hoping to go to northern England for uni. That and working non-stop on my portfolio, praying for that unconditional offer!

Either way- If you're in the same boat as me (i.e living super rurally and not wanting to be a farmer) you're not alone 🥲

Early birds, tell me

HOW do you wake up in the morning, and get refreshed enough to start studying ASAP?

If I do manage to not turn off my alarm multiple times and actually get out of bed, I still don’t lose my sleepiness even after washing my face and brushing my teeth.

I’m genuinely struggling so much as I already have little time till exams (less than a month) and not waking up early and being productive in the morning is just wasting more hours. I need genuine advice and tips, I’m willing to do anything ATP. Throw your craziest advice at me. Any help is appreciated 🙏

Board Exams Cancellation GCC Region

With board exams cancelled across the Middle East (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.), is anyone considering transferring to an exam centre abroad like Malaysia for example?

Personally, I have serious concerns about the evidence portfolio route. Internal assessments completed online during distance learning are inherently unreliable. Academic dishonesty is widespread, and when that inflates results, grade thresholds rise and honest students are the ones who suffer. On top of that, some teachers set their own papers in formats that bear little resemblance to the actual exam, so those assessments can’t fairly represent a student’s ability.

The situation is especially dire for private candidates and students who sat exams in the May/June session, since results expire after 13 months, making the October/November session inaccessible to them. And even for those who could defer to November, A-Level students would likely be looking at a gap year or a January/late intake at university.

That’s not a minor inconvenience. It means falling behind peers, disrupted offers, and lost time.

As for transferring centres, I’ve heard the per-paper costs are steep, and British Council centres internationally aren’t even confirming whether transfers are possible. Add flights and accommodation on top of that, and it becomes financially out of reach for most.

This is a genuinely difficult situation for everyone involved. I don’t think there’s much to celebrate here.

A level Business students, I've created a completely free and no pay-wall or anything quiz tool for the students and you can use it for free!

Many of our students said they wanted a quiz tool like in many other paid services but didn't want to pay for yet another tool, so we went ahead and created this tool and we're keeping it open for everyone:

You can access it here and use and track your understanding of each chapter.

Feedback will be highly appreciated and we're open to working on more tools that are paid but you'd want for free!

Enjoy!
