Moving to Lebanon in July!

Moving to Oregon in July!

34M I'm moving from Elk Grove (Sacramento area) up to Lebanon, OR in early July. I'll be moving in with my fiancée and her mother's family.

Which means: I don't really have any friends up there at all. So I'm putting this out there.

I'm looking to make friends. The real kind. If you're alternative, nerdy, goth, emo, hardcore, Anime, book-reading, night-sky-watching, deep-thinking kind of human—we'll probably get along.

I don't care about your gender or orientation. I care if you're real. If you've been through some things and came out the other side still willing to be kind.

A little about me, honestly:

I'm shy. I have anxiety. And I can come across as a little bit of a dick sometimes—not on purpose. It's just how I grew up in Sacramento/Elk Grove. We say "hella," "sup," "what up," "how you doin," and a bunch of other things that might sound abrupt. If you get to know me, I might rub off on you. Consider yourself warned.

I like cars. I drop everything when someone needs help. I've done things I'm proud of and made choices I'd do differently. I believe in second chances and real loyalty. I laugh hard, feel deeply, and I'll show up for you if you show up for me.

Looking for genuine people to grab coffee with, talk about life or music or nothing at all, and not have to pretend.

If that sounds like you or someone you know in the Lebanon area, send me a message.

Let's be weird. 🖤

Swimming Pool Options

Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a public swimming pool near Corvallis/Albany/Philomath; specifically one that has space for adults who just want to relax in the water. I'm aware of the Osborne Aquatic Center, but it seems more oriented towards children and exercise and is partially closed. As far as I'm aware, OSU also has a pool. I am an alumni if it makes a difference.

I work an outdoor job in the heat, and all I want to do when I get home is submerge myself in water. I grew up in an area with numerous public pools and a swimmable ocean accessible to me and I'm really craving something similar. I know I can jump in a river - but frankly I want something a little bit more accessible I guess.

Anyone got any ideas? Thank you!!!

At 7pm this evening, The Chapter House is hosting a guided conversation on masculinity; what it is, what it isn’t, and WTF to do with it if we can’t just throw it out. Led by some asshole you’ll probably hate. It’ll suck, you shouldn’t come. But if you do, just know that everyone’s welcome.

(Yes, everyone)

My New Year’s resolution is to pick up at least one piece of plastic trash every day. Now that I am seeking trash, I see it everywhere!

I was wondering if there are any local groups that go out and pick up trash around town? I would love to join!

Hoping this is okay to ask here. I’m not a student at OSU but figured this might be a good place to check.

I’m a parent in Albany looking for a summer tutor for my daughter, who is finishing up her freshman year of high school.

I’m hoping to find someone who works well with high school students with ADHD and can take a patient, step by step approach. We’re really looking for help strengthening foundational math skills so she can feel more confident finishing out this year and going into next. She’s currently in Algebra I and has relied pretty heavily on calculators, so we’re looking to build more understanding behind the work.

We’re hoping for 1 to 2 sessions per week from mid May through the end of June. Pay is $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience.

If you have experience tutoring or working with high school students, or know someone who does, and you’re comfortable breaking things down in a way that makes sense, I’d love to connect. We’re open to meeting at our home in Albany or somewhere like a library in Corvallis, whatever is easiest.

****Thank you so much for all the replies! Working on reaching out to a few options thanks to your help!

Going down the hearing aids rabbit hole and Costco in general has a lot of recommendations with the caveat that experience varies by store. I’m looking for your experiences good or bad at the Albany store getting an exam, buying hearing aids, and getting service going forward.

Thanks!

I have similar posts on my account that will have a bit more info, They have unfortunately been to no avail but if you or someone you know has a developmentally or intellectually disabled friend or family member please do not hesitate to contact me through DM or commenting on this post. Anyone with connections in a group home or just anything in general would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Finally trying to keep up on yard work after inheriting my home and being entirely overwhelmed!

This spot faces north and gets pretty bright sun all day.

My first thought was a trellis and tomatoes, since I love the idea of something going up the side of the house? Or maybe various herbs? Or would be entirely happy with something non-edible and pretty.

I bought these passes with every intention of going and was honestly counting down the days, but unfortunately something very important has come up in my personal life—one of those moments where you realize some things matter more than entertainment. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I know I need to be present where I’m needed most right now.

I have 5 passes available for the Savannah Bananas at Autzen Stadium in Eugene on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. Rather than let them go unused, I’d truly love for someone local to enjoy the experience and make some great memories.

You’re welcome to take 1, a couple, or all 5—whatever works best. Feel free to send me a message for pricing if you’re interested or have any questions. Thanks!
