3 years old tattoo of my cat

The first photo is from a few days ago and the second was taken immediately the tattoo was done. I think it's been holding up great :) can't wait to see how it's gonna look in a few more years.

the artist is ciotka_zu_tattoo

Fresh vs 4 years.

When I got it, someone on reddit said it would look like shit in 4 years. Well. Here we are!

My first tattoo (fresh vs. healed 3.5 yrs)

To make a long story short, it was my first tattoo, I had just turned 18 two days ago, and I changed my mind last minute and impulsively decided to go with California poppies (I’m from California). Tattoo artist used single needle hyper realistic technique. Would I get this tattoo again? No. I don’t like how it’s barely visible. I’m really disappointed by the way the colors have faded. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into and I should have done more research. But also the light oranges on my olive skin color was a poor choice imo. And since I’ve started testosterone (FtM) my legs have gotten much much hairier, further obscuring all the little details that make the tattoo beautiful (I’ve shaved my leg in the last photo so you can see what I mean). If I get it touched up I’ll probably get some much darker oranges, less realistic, and a bold black outline, probably something American traditional-esque. I guess if there’s one good thing I can take away from the experience, it’s now I know what I DONT like, lol! Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a pretty design for someone else, but not for me.

November 2022 vs. Today

Still very happy with this artist, and i feel it almost looks brighter! Not everyone is good with red ink on black skin.

2 years and freshly healed, black and grey not quite fine line.

Done by Lindsay Naspinsky at Tattoo Gallery Adelaide in May 2024.

I lost 20kg in that time and arm in fresh photo (red blanket) was resting on something.

Inner forearm placement, consistent user of SPF 50+ because Australia.
