Going the extra mile for my first Gunpla build

I have never build a model kit of any kind before, but last month I decided on a whim I wanted to change that and picked up an HGUC RGM-79 GM cheap at Mandarake in Ikebukuro.
But I wasn't going to be happy just putting it together so I did some research and set to work making it my own with custom panel lines, paint, decals, and weathering. Ended up settling on "back from a third sortie during the Battle of A Baoa Qu" as the vibe I wanted to go for. I think I ended up with something that largely matched the original vision. It was a blast and this certainly won't be the last model I put together.
I'd love to hear suggestions on what I could do next. What kits I should look into? Any techniques I should try? Let me know and thanks for checking out my first build.

[Custom] 1998 08th MS Team HG Gouf Flight Type restoration.

Kitbashed the HGUC Gouf Custom with the older 1998 HG Gouf Flight Type. Completely salvaged the old kit's parts, which were technically destroyed and brittle from previous failed attempt from more than 20 years ago.

Hey everyone,

I decided to restore a 1998 Gouf flight type. with the much newer HGUC Gouf Custom. For the paint job, I tried to stay as accurate as possible to the original 1998 Flight Type color scheme from the kit. Once the base colors were locked down, I went in with heavy weathering to simulate the machine fighting through the grueling, humid tropical jungles seen in The 08th MS Team. I wanted it to look like it has been operating under heavy deployment with minimal maintenance—lots of mud, grime, and environmental wear.

This build also ended up being a massive rescue and restoration mission. The older Flight Type kit was technically completely destroyed from previous failed attempts at scribing, painting, and seam-line removal, leaving the plastic extremely brittle and damaged. It took an absurd amount of time just to strip away the old paint layers, repair the botched panel lines, fix the seam issues, and reinforce the plastic so it wouldn't shatter under the weathering washes.

Once the structural restoration was done, I focused on pushing the mechanical details:

The Kitbash: Used the Gouf Custom as the core base for the built, then bashed in the flight wings, heavy leg thrusters, and flight pack.

Head Mod: Modified the head and mono-eye to look sharper and more realistic.

Plaplate & Rivets: Added custom plastic rivet detailing and Pla plate.

Scribing: Re-did the scribing properly, cutting several new panel lines across the legs and chest to match the dense detail of the flight parts.

Weathering: heavy mud splatters, rain streaks, and chipping to match the harsh jungle climate.

Despite the plastic fatigue nightmares and fixing past mistakes, I'm incredibly happy with how this turned out. Bringing those destroyed parts back from the dead was worth the headache!Let me know what you think! Happy to answer any questions about this build

First time scribing EG Nu gundam

My first time ever scribing gunpla and I think it turned out pretty sick. Made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I feel a lot more comfortable doing some scribing and minor scratchbuilding now.

Mecha Core industry are amazing at runner layout.

It really is an under appreciated aspect of building. If a build calls for two symmetrical upper arm or leg builds, -then instead of putting two pieces apiece on two different runners, Mecha Core just puts all four pieces on One runner. -It makes the build so much quicker and more pleasant!

They also tend to put all pieces of a body part on two or 3 runners. So you can only keep a few on your desk and than clear them quickly.

First inner frame painting

With paint markers I say I did a decent job for my first full inner frame painting, I could have made it a bit more precise and I'll probably clean it up later while I finish up the armor

Checking out the new Katoki style head option for the Oberon Dark Angel

I knew the kit cane with a new head and chest but i had no idea you could build both. Im not sure which i like more.

Also i didn’t realize that it comes with 3 different shades of black(jet black, dark grey, and smokey clear) and two different reds (opaque and clear) gold.

The kit is the Oberon 2.0 Dark angel version by Mecha core industry

Quick and easy build

Wanted to test 3rd party kits, and also something easy after my last project. Built the JMS Hyaku Shiki with the champagne gold sprayed finish. Looks decent imo. Didn't bother with decals, I have a bandai shiki i will use those on.

PG Strike Freedom Pt. 3: Bodyodyodyody

Nearing the finish line! IN LOVE with how the plating on my front skirts turned out. The dark/serious tone of the palette is an unexpected, but happy result as well. On the painting side, off camera, I am now airbrushing the final pieces of the rifle and base before all is complete.

My take on the Perfect Strike Freedom!

Felt like the backpack was too big and unwieldy. Perhaps now it can be called PS.Destiny Custom? Just a small showcase!
