Yale PNP-AC (MSN) vs UW PNP-AC (DNP): placements, mentorship, and overall experience?

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student trying to decide between Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) programs, and I’d really appreciate some honest insights—especially from current students or recent graduates.

I have an offer from Yale (MSN PNP-AC) and I’m comparing it with the University of Washington’s DNP (PNP-AC). I wanted to understand a few things about Yale’s program specifically:

- How are the clinical placements structured? Are they arranged by the school, or do students need to find their own preceptors/placements?

- How is the academic structure—do you feel well guided and mentored, or is it more self-directed and fast-paced?

- Given that it’s a shorter MSN program, does it feel rushed, or do you have enough time to build confidence clinically?

- How accessible and supportive are faculty and mentors?

If anyone has insight into how Yale’s program compares with UW’s DNP (especially in terms of clinical training, preparedness, and overall experience), that would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Living around Dwight St between Elm and Chapel?

Hi all! I will be moving to New Haven this summer and am consider my housing options. I found a place that I like on Dwight St, roughly between Chapel and Elm Street. Can anyone who has spend time in the area comment on what it would be like to live there? Does it feel safe? How is the noise level? For context, I am an incoming Grad Student at Yale (Science Hill) and will be living alone. I have heard that East Rock and Wooster is popular for grad students, but I've been struggling to find available units in those areas - I am trying to better my alternatives. Thanks for your advice!
