So I picked up an order at a pizza place. Pizza and fries. Then picked up 3 orders at McDonalds. Started delivering. First delivery was a McDonalds order. The name on the door didn’t match with the name on the order. So I knocked on the door and asked if the customer lived there. Turned out customer had forgotten to change adress. I called him and he told me his actual adress that was pretty far from my route. So I contacted support. Described the issue. Said I wouldn’t mind taking it to his actual adress when I had delivered the other orders. But I needed the adresses. Support answered with “I contacted the customer” and kept going in circles. Until I was told to leave the order there and swipe “delivered”. So I opened my Wolt bag and took out this order. Then noticed the Pizza and fries were totally soaked in coke. Turned out one of the McDonalds orders had 2 large cokes, but didn’t have the lids on right. I explained this to support and was told I still had to deliver all the ruined food. I asked if they were for real. But support guy insisted I had to deliver it and then it was up to the customer to make a complaint. I got so frustrated. I told him, it’s embarrassing and unprofessional to deliver something you know is ruined. But he insisted I had to. So I delivered the pizza and fries - it was a “no contact” delivery, so I texted the customer and explained why he got a soaked pizza. The last two orders were to the same place. I had managed to save one of them. The other was completely ruined. The paperbag had almost dissolved. It was impossible to see what else had been in the bag except two empty papercups without lids. And Wolt insisted I delivered it !!!! I was fuming with frustration and embarrassment- then Support guy texted “order *** (pizza customer) have made a complaint. Can you please tell me what has happened”? And can you send a picture of having left the first order? I almost exploded. He never told me to take a picture and I had explained very clearly that everything was soaked in coke and shouldn’t be delivered. Then - thank God - another support agent took over. She read the entire thread, told me she understood my frustration - and that the customers were being refunded due to damaged packing. And if I could send a picture of the first delivery. I was close to the adress so I just went there, food was still there so I took a pic and sent it. And offered to take the food to the customer as it was on my way home anyways. I didn’t have to though.
Anyways this was my first “damaged packing caused a soda disaster” incident and if it ever happens again, I’ll flat out refuse to deliver it. There. Rant over.
