Where are non-bar places to meet new people in Wilmington

I'm new to Wilmington and have been wanting to go out more and try to meet new people. I'm in a meetup group, but the events often don't work for me (and it doesn't help that I don't have a car rn). I'm trying to lose weight, so I'm trying not to drink very often and want things to do that aren't bars. I'd love ideas on places to go out or things to do to meet new people nearby.

I'd prefer to meet other millennials and would also love being a part of LGBTQ+ friendly communities

26 M moved from Illinois to Wilmington looking to make friends/join community groups

Hey all! 'm a recent graduate student 26 (M) Mexican American from Chicago. I moved for work, and I'm looking to make friends around my age. I enjoy working out/playing volleyball, going out to clubs/bars (Latin nights are a plus), gaming/tabletop (D&D)/boardgames, walking my dog, cooking/baking, and trying new coffee shops and resturants. I'm very open minded in meeting new people from all types of backgrounds.

Lost Sunglasses

This is a longshot but if anyone finds a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses at Rockford Park I'd love to get them back. I lost them today while I was there for Girls on the Run. Please DM if you happen to find them.

Rental available 6/1/2026

I’m sharing this here first before it’s advertised by the property manager in case anyone has any students, friends or relatives looking to relocate to Delaware.

This duplex condo 2 br 1.5 bath apt is at 2400 Baynard Boulevard unit 3. Wilmington De 19802. Available after May 31st 2026.

It’s in an historic building known as Baynard House; this building was originally a Victorian school building, so lots of floor to ceiling windows and a spiral staircase.

The rent is $2000 per month. Upon request I will provide the name of the property manager.

Have a great day.

Is there a decent beach closer to Wilmington?

One of the reasons we moved here is because of Cape Henlopen. But it's over an hour away. It's nice for a day trip and lunch on the beach and then Lewes.

But sometimes we just want to quickly go to the beach. When we first moved down here we tried stopping all the way along the "other beaches" before Lewes, but they weren't at all beach like.

Are we missing something local.? I saw New Castle's pier the other day and that was nice. Made me wonder if we are missing something else.

In need of a job

Hi all, I’m in need of a job I’ve been applying but no luck.. for a while. It’s getting tight so if anyone knows any place that’s hiring I’d be more than happy to apply and/or even go in person.

Im open to any opportunities but a little bit about me is that I have a background in software testing, and recently finished a 4 month bootcamp for cyber security and got certified. I’m a 29 year old male and have my own vehicle. Please don’t offer doordash or uber (no hate I’ve done it for years) but I’d like a consistent income that’s sustainable. Thank you for your help

Septa to Philly

I am going to start working in Philly once a week and I'd like to take Septa instead of Amtrak. Is the Septa reliable or should I spring for Amtrak tickets?

Thanks!

Puppy Training Classes?

I have a new puppy, and she's driving me crazy!

I'm looking for a recommendation for puppy training classes around here. I don't want to go to Petsmart. I'd like to go somewhere that focuses on this specifically on this.

I'm not looking for anything too intense, just some basics to tame the little beast! I am kidding, I love her very much.

Gilpin Place Apartments

Hello all! I was approved for an apartment at Gilpin Place, but since the unit is currently occupied, I've actually never seen it or any other apartments in the building. Has someone here lived there before and can tell me anything about the property, the apartments, anything I should know? Of course I won't be signing any leases until I can get a look at the place, but just putting feelers out to see if anyone has the inside scoop on this building. Also parking. How bad is it around there? Are there lots nearby like there are in the market street area for Delaware residents?
