Drove 220,000KMs and it gave up

For 22 years my clean title 2004 Mercedes C230 was perfect. My neighbour bought it in 2004 and sold it to me at 205,000 in 2025. Everything was maintenanced. He gave it to me with new tires, breaks, fluids changed, detailed, etc.

As soon as I hit 220,00 kms

Everything just fell apart like it was timed perfectly.

Within 1 month

The whole suspension, shocks, control arms, stabilizers, and everything related to steering had to get replaced.

After that whole stereo and speakers died and had to get replaced.

A bunch of small sensors and coolant sensors. Got replaced.

After that oil leak started heavily and all 4 cylinders and valve covers and spark plugs and a bunch more got replaced. And ventilation hoses.

Not even 2 hours later from picking it up the “alternator/battery visit shop” came up. And it started to smell strongly of something burning.

What the actual freak is going on?? It would have been cheaper to get a new engine and replaced it by this point.

Fiber like material from exhaust

I took my car for a Highway drive after parking it for few weeks in the parking lot. When I started to drive, there was a variation of sound while reving in the cabin. And I also drove in bit high rpm’s than usual, but later I found out a fiber like material from the exhaust tip. When I asked the mechanic, he told that it’s usual that some people place some kind of stuff somewhere in the exhaust after removing catalytic converter to reduce the sound and it came out after I drove it in high rpms. Is that true ? And still the car doesn’t sound like how it used to sound before. But the sound seems to be rough only while driving. While idling, the sound seems to be okay. Any idea what it is and what I could do to fix it. It’s a w203 facelift (2005) 2.2 diesel.

Rattling noise

My 2004 (facelift) C230 kompressor (M271) makes a rattling noice between 2000-2500 rpm when the engine is hot. It sounds like it comes from the exhaust (katalysator). Does somebody experienced the same problem? (Manual gearbox)
