Julie Dwyer funeral is a little confusing to me and I was wondering if maybe some hard-core fans that can explain it to me. She has a funeral in clerks where her casket gets knocked over and all that stuff happened and then in mallrats, They mention it happening the night before so she dies the first day. The second day is more rats where everybody’s hearing about it and then clerks is the third day where the funeral takes place. How did all of that get done in three days? Is it even possible to get all of it done in three days usually funerals take more than that considering the fact that they probably didn’t realize she was dead until day two They only had one day to plan. How does this work or is this just continuity that Kevin Smith didn’t think about when making mallrats
Edit: New Jersey is in the top four states with Jewish populations so most likely you are right that Julie Doyer was a Jewish descendent and probably just following tradition with the 24 hour funeral
My local convenience store is a sheet away from an “I assure you, we’re open!” sign
When Randall was holding the death cards in Julie Dwyer‘ funeral even see a picture of Jesus with Bartleby and Loki from dogma, did anybody catch this detail?
Any time I post a sequel, the question rightfully is, “Do I have to see the first one to understand this?” This one is tricky. Not technically? It kind of works as a standalone film, but seeing the first will absolutely make the experience of this one more fulfilling. Having said that, the two are tonally pretty different—the first being a low-budget black and white indie with sharp dialogue and a solid story of the course of a day of work at a convenience store, and this one being noticeably higher-budget, in color, and featuring…well…a donkey show (if you don’t know what that is, perhaps check the content warnings—do NOT google it). While the first movie was one of the truly great examples of 90s indie film, this one is moreso for fans of Kevin Smith and the raunchy brand of 00s comedy that was all the rage for a while. I enjoy it, but I also acknowledge that it’s not perfect, nor is it the true cinematic landmark the first movie is. Trailer below.
It is kinda crazy to me that Ben Affleck was the Buttman in Mallrats, a movie that Kevin Smith dressed up in a Batman-style costume, and that Ben went on to actually play Batman in a real DC film.
Finally got the animated series on DVD for 1.99 at Goodwill
Why are we walking like this lol
Edit: I love how every time the animated series gets referenced. Everybody just says memes lol I love this!!!
I was watching Mallrats for the first time and I have a question is Brodie cousin Walter the same Walter from clerks that Randall had that died or is it a different one knowing these movies are connected it probably is the same person so does that mean Brodie and Randall are related did anyone else notice this?
This is a map of all characters when events take place when characters graduated where they graduated stuff like that it is located in the chasing Amy criterion collection DVD This was made on 10/21/97 by Kevin Smith and the hard-working crew at Viewaskew thought it would be cool to show here
Here's my Kevin Smith collection so far. I actually have a pretty decent sized DVD/VHS collection, BUT this is my pride and joy 😊.
If were funnier than that, ABC wouldn’t have cancelled us - Randal Graves (2001)
Had this Idea for a longtime burning in the back of my mind, finally did It, I may do more from other ViewAskew movies
Funny story My teacher said at the beginning of class we had 37 days left of school and I had to stop myself from laughing for obvious reasons
I finally got to meet the coolest people on the planet. Great way to start off being a 28 year old.
