So the name of this game is called "Splatoon: Depths" and it's completely inspired by salmon run.
And here is everything you need to know about it!
Story:
This game has little to no story but the lore we get in this game is interesting so to speak.
The game takes place on a tropical archipelago far east from not only inkopolis but Also calamari county known as "The Sushi-Ish isles" (a inkling and octarian inhabited set of islands that has been cut off from the rest of the world for the last 200 years until recently but despite this the native society is still quite modern).
The people of The Sushi-Ish isles have a semi stable relationship with a few clams of salmonids that live in the waters around the archipelago but they people of the archipelago do squabble with them from time to time.
The people of the archipelago don't do salmon run as a form of corporate business BUT INSTEAD it's seen as a honourable way to not only gain power eggs but also settle disputes with the salmonids all while not making them go extinct in other words it's more of a sacred duty that has been going for centuries.
The people of The Sushi-Ish isles have developed technology that allows inklings/octolings to not only survive in water but fight underwater too that being "Depth-suits" (these look like old time diving suits) and when underwater the inklings/octolings don't use ink instead they use special ink-like algae.
The main idols for The Sushi-Ish isles is a band known as "the culinary quartet" (a band having 2 inkings, a octoling and a Salmonid) and this idol group is also a friend group who have known each other since they were young.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is like salmon run (specifically Splatoon 3) but the areas are more open and allows exploration and depth to the places you play in.
In the lobby you Can choose to play one of two modes those being "standard run" and "depth run".
Standard run is just normal salmon run with a few waves and maybe a king Salmonid at the end as a xtra wave all while trying to hit a quota.
Depth run plays completely differently in this mode you adorne your Depth-suits and dive below the waves deep into Salmonid Territory and each wave you go deeper underwater and UNLIKE standard Salmon run depth run is actually infinite and you keep going until you: can't hit the quota, you have a team wipe OR you die to a king Salmonid.
During a depth run you can't swim this is because of the Depth-suit being heavy but you can jump quite high.
When in the lobby you can choose which location where you want to go to do you game of salmon run (this applies to both standard run and depth run)
Sea carnival:
Sea carnival is best described as Splatoon: Depths version of splatfest but instead of being a event where your divided into teams that must fight against one another INSTEAD the community must work together to collect enough eggs to EARN a community wide reward (like for example: a new shop or a new place to explore).
Big run:
Big run in Splatoon: Depths will play the exact same way as it does in Splatoon 3 where the salmonids will attack a random location on The Sushi-Ish isles and it's up to the community to defend it.... HOWEVER of the community fails to stop the big run within the alloted time frame the place is taken over and becomes a location for standard runs until another Big run happens that's when The community gets the choice to reclaim an old area or save a new area of The Sushi-Ish isles.
Hub world:
The hub world of Splatoon: Depths is the city square of one of The Sushi-Ish isles's biggest city known as "Kelp cutter city" and the lobby is a place known as "Salmon run HQ".
