2014 Veloster turbo r-spec 6-speed manual

Hey y’all so my Veloster has a pretty horrible cylinder 3 failure due to severe cylinder wall scoring. I’ve been trying to find a crate, brand new, long block. I’ve looked everywhere and supposedly there’s still 1.6L turbo gamma G4FJ engines sold. At dealerships around me they’re going for like 6-8k. I’ve found “new” long blocks online for like 3k, from eBay and PowerEngines.com. These are advertised as new but idk. I really like my Veloster and have put time and money into modding it and driving it and will rather keep the car with a new engine than have to go to another used car that idk how it’s been kept and maintained. But I’m not going to spend >6k on it. A dealer is quoting me almost 10k to swap the engine out themselves, but I’m pretty sure I can do the swap myself I’ve got almost all the tools and I would be missing just some hardware.

Tl;dr any reputable source of crate engines for the Veloster??

So about a month ago my son's 15 turbo started spewing sweet smelling white smoke coupled with a cooling system that wouldn't hold pressure. Checked for exhaust gasses in the coolant and came back clean. Eventually diagnosed failed turbo which was confirmed when I pulled the old one off. Got the new OEM Borg warner installed and car started up fine then popped an oil leak at the oil cooler. Replaced that, which was a tremendous pain in the ass, and now I have the sweet smell of white smoke once again. This time only after the car warms up and north of about 3500rpm. No codes on the obd. I did get some misfire action north of 3500 but it never tripped an engine light, just a pending multi cylinder misfire code.

I'm going to check the exhaust gas in the coolant again but this thing has me a bit confused. I had to pull the valve cover for clearance to get the turbo out and that required pulling the cam phaser valve so I'm wondering if I screwed something up in that process. Only thinking cam phasers since the problem seems rpm dependent.

Any of you Hyundai experts have any suggestions on where to start?
