joystick not sensing that my thumb is touching it???

so, i play vrchat but this goes as itself too, my valve index joysticks do not sense when my thumbs are touching it, so it looks like im giving the "thumbs up" at people every time, and it wont go down unless i move the joystick itself or stay moving. what do i do?? please help lmfao. this is NOT a stick drift thing either so please dont give recommendations on that either. ONLY the sensors are broken, and it happened almost when i first got the controllers. nothing else is wrong with them and the other buttons sensors work too soo. please help me out

Looking for alternatives

I found these while browsing around but cant seem to find anything similar. The company who made these seem to be gone now.

Does anyone know of some alternatives like this?

Son has changed processor and motherboard, now his Index won’t connect.

Hi all,

My son recently upgraded his basic MB and CPU from Ryzen 5 Pro 3400G to Ryzen 7 5800X, and now his Valve Index won’t connect to his PC.

It’s getting power, and we’ve tried everything that the SteamVR prompts suggest, but nothing has worked.

Has anyone had success with this with any sort of obscure solution?

Thanks in advance 👌🏼

HTC controllers with index

Hey there, I have two extra original Vive controllers I use with my index and I noticed some people actually use them as full body trackers and I was just wondering if anyone had a source to the files or product that allows you to strap them to your chest?

Valve index eyetracking

I figured id poke on here before doing an impulse buy..I was looking into getting eyetracking into my index since I’m not sure if I want to switch to a steam frame when it comes out and I saw this on AliExpress. Ofc being in that website it means it’s sketchy as all hell but it looks like it’s using the same kit as the EyetrackVR github.

Should I risk it or should I find an alternative?

Base station gear rental?

Stupid question but is there anywhere I can rent (or buy and return) a valve base station? My friend is going to let me borrow their whole index when I come to house sit for her for a few weeks and would LOVE to get back into VR. Specifically some horror games. Only one issue, she only has one working base station, which would super easily break my immersion. Does anyone know anywhere I could temporarily get a base station so I don't have to shell out $200+ just to have some immersive fun? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

BattleGroupVR2 (ONSALE) : Multiplayer Update - Take command together in synchronized fleet combat

Multiplayer Update – Now Live

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3385960/BattleGroupVR2/

Multiplayer is finally in after ~3 months of work (way more than expected, but it's here). You can now play fully networked co-op/PvP with up to 4 players across all major modes:

  • Gauntlet – escalating combat + randomized rewards, push your fleet and manage risk
  • Open World – shared galaxy with missions, factions, trading, events
  • PvP – direct fleet vs fleet combat
  • Endless – survive infinite waves with your team

Core systems were reworked for multiplayer: shared missions, resource transfer, group capture points, and team/commander colors on the holomap. We have also built in voice chat, so no extra apps needed.

Discord for matchmaking/bugs/feedback: https://discord.gg/f86JjH9Nqe

Thanks for sticking through the long multiplayer push! If you've been waiting to jump in, now's a good time - the game's currently on sale this weekend.

Just got a Valve Index alongside my Quest 3, what FBT should I go for?

As said, I’ve always wanted a Valve Index for a veryy long time; it’s more of a collectors item to me now but I’d love to have it as a backup in case my Q3 dies — more importantly the Knuckles and Base-stations

I currently use a mix of Standable and Virtual Desktop’s upper body tracking for social VR on the Q3, should I wait for the fluxpose trackers, which may really just come in another year or two, butterfly slime trackers that drop pre-order packages by august, or stick with the lighthouse-based trackers like Vive 3.0s or Tundras. (There’s currently an eBay offer for $300 USD with three 2.0s and a fourth 3.0 presumably for continous calibration with the Q3)

Cheers

useful RE2R VR mods?

While I can run the game on decent graphics and decent fps cause I have a 3080 + i7 13700 and 32gb of RAM, I find that some of the controls are kind of annoying. I'd like to be able to shoot without having to hit the aim button which slows my movement down by a lot unlike the OG RE4 VR. Also if there's any mods or settings to have it look better and not trade so much performance I'd appreciate it, shit or any performance mods that don't trade visuals would be fire too. Will definitely be trying RE4R next along with 7, 8 and 9.

Welp, it finally broke

USBC port popped out of the controller last night. Never had any problems with stick drift or buttons breaking after 4 years of use. Sad to see this go :(

Where do I get the little bushings to fix my stick drift?

I've finally just given up on playing /r/ForefrontVR because my stick drift is so bad I can only walk forward, and not even all the time.

I already swapped the little bushings around which did help for a while, but not any more.

I already found probably the best guide on how to do it, problem is that all the links to aliexpress are dead (and I don't really want to buy it there anyway). Is there a place you can still get them without paying out the ass?

My brand new index controllers are both broken

I just a few days ago got these index controllers from steam and only a few days later they both wont just turn on anymore. They only turn on if connected to power. When in vr and you look at the depiction of the controller it looks like the on (aka the menu button) is pressed or like frantically moving like its being pressed. I did not spill anything on them or drop them and I also did not press that button hard AT ALL. One controller also brings up the steam vr menu every 2 seconds. When I disconnect the power the controller turns off. let me know what you guys think!

Joystick replacement options

Essentially, my left joystick has passed away and I'm looking to replace it. Are there any hall-effect joysticks that would be compatible? Or is the FJ06K-S the only option?

Displays dropped out mid game, no longer detected

During a gameplay session, my Index displays went black (but still powered) with no warning. After restarting SteamVR, the displays refused to power on at all and I get the "Display Disconnected" 208 Error, while the power and USB functions appear to be intact (as much as can be tested with no displays). I have tried all combinations of restarting the PC, changing display ports on my GFX card, reinstalling drivers, using different version drivers, resetting SteamVR USBs, reinstalling SteamVR, disabling direct mode, buying a new tether cable, and testing all of the above on a second PC, to no avail. I have also gone thru the steps provided by Steam support and their diagnosis was that the headset was faulty, not the cable. My Index primarily gets used for seated simulators, so I don't believe this is the result of physical damage/wear, leading me to suspect an internal component failure.

I am capable of ordering and following the iFixit guides to replace components, but is there any way to diagnose where in the chain of I/O Board > I/O Board Cable > Motherboard > Displays that this failure is actually happening?

Error 213 Help w/ laptop

Hi everyone, I've tried everything to debug my issues, including reaching out to Steam Support, so I'm writing here as a last resort to see if anyone can help me.

My laptop model is an ASUS FX507VI.

The issue I'm having is that when connected through a USB-C adapter, my Valve Index connects to Intel UHD graphics rather than the GPU itself, causing me to receive error 213.

The confusing part is that I have previously been able to successfully have SteamVR running before on this very laptop through this connection, but after several months of not running VR at all, I came back to this error anytime I try to open SteamVR.

The only things that I can remember having changed in this period are that I replaced the laptop battery after the old one died, and I ran the ChrisTitusTech/winutil resource to try to debloat some of Windows 11.

I've tried troubleshooting many things (updating drivers, checking for corrupted files, trying both USB-C ports on my laptop, etc.), but nothing has been able to resolve this issue.

The fact that it worked before gives me some hope that there is a solution here, and I would appreciate any advice that anyone might have! I hope there's some way to restore my VR functionality; buying an entirely new desktop or VR headset seems to be the only other options left, both of which would be very costly.
