Has vizio quality tanked?

I had a 43"1080p model from like 2008-2024 and replaced it when the remote stopped working, and I have a 55" 4k from 2016 that made it a decade but now the left side of the screen is at about 50% the brightness of the right half, I'm looking to replace it with something in the 70" range and i.was surprised how cheap the Vizio's are but the one I replaced the 08 model with initially was throwing up random colors and white patches on the screen in the first couple weeks I had it, I returned it to Wal mart for a replacement that's been good for the 18 months I've had it but the color is a little washed out.

I also saw a YouTube video the other day claiming you have to sign in to a Wal mart account now to get the built in apps to work? Don't love that and it seems like Samsung's are comparably priced. I see a lot of grief about Vizio's lately would you recommend getting a big one for the living room? The location gets washed out by a window in the afternoons so a bright display is pretty essential.

New Mini-LED is impressive

Needed a new bedroom TV, went with the Vizio Mini-LED, which was $400 for the 65 inch. At that price it seemed too good to be true, but I didn’t really care because we rarely use the TV in our bedroom. With that being said here is my amateur review after spending a few weeks with it:

PROs: I was pleasantly surprised when the picture quality turned out to be shockingly good for a $400 TV. It’s an IPS panel so I was expecting some blooming, but they did a good job keeping it in check for the most part (what you see in these pics is about as bad as it gets). Viewing angle is great, as expected with an IPS panel TV. I’m also really happy with the color accuracy, especially in calibrated mode + local dimming set to standard. What really caught my eye was the brightness of HDR highlights — they gotta be approaching 1000 nits, because they truly do pop. Finally, motion handling seems to be pretty good to my eye. Transitions are clean and crisp, I haven’t noticed any smearing or stuttering in fast scenes, kind of expected with an IPS panel since they handle motion better in general vs VA.

CONs: It’s 4k @ 60hz, but can’t expect 120 Hz with a $400 TV, and it’s is not my gaming TV, so I didn’t care. (It does do 1080P @ 120hz, though I haven’t tried that yet). Another thing I didn’t like but the fact that you have to create a Walmart account or migrate your VIZIO account. That being said, I knew there would be trade-offs for a TV with picture quality this good at this price, and that trade-off is Walmart putting ads in your home. Plus, you can turn all that data tracking off in the extras menu anyway, not to mention I use an Apple TV so not really relevant to me. Another thing I didn’t like but the fact that’s the back of the TV looks cheap and industrial. Thankfully, the front looks good— bezel-less ok 3 sides and a matte metallic strip on the bottom. Finally, there are only three HDMI ports, which would suck for anyone using it as their main TV if they have a lot of connected devices. Anyone with more than three would have to buy an HDMI switch.

Overall, the PROs far outweigh the CONs in my opinion. To me, picture quality has always been my number one requirement in a TV, and this one definitely checks that box, and it does so at budget TV prices. A lot of those negative aspects I mentioned are almost certainly due to cost cutting, which is totally understandable, because again, this damn Mini-LED was $400, and it performs like a $1000+ panel.

I know half the comments will be “Yeah but it’s a Vizio and it will die in like 1 year bro.” I admit it definitely seemed like they were in a rough patch for a few years there, but personally, I’ve never had any problems with any of mine.

I’m starting to wonder if the Walmart acquisition might be a good thing for them. I’m sure those deep pockets will help with quality control, and it looks like Walmart is setting Vizio up to be their mid-premium brand, with ONN being their dirt cheap brand.

There’s no TV right now on the market that even comes close to this performance for this price, including Hisense and TCL— even their comparable are hundreds more. To me, that sounds a lot like the Vizio of old.

How to set default to HDMI 1 when turning tv on

Just bought a new Vizio after having one for years. I have Xfinity cable plugged into HDMI 1. I have always used my Xfinity remote to power on & off my Vizio where I power on and it automatically opens Xfinity, not the Vizio Home Screen. But I can’t figure out how to get my new Vizio to do this. How do I force my Vizio to default to Xfinity (my HDMI 1) automatically when I turn it on instead of having to manually switch it every time?

Rear surround sound speakers cutting out

I have a Vizio 5:1 soundbar and surround sound for my living room TV (Model M51a-H6).

My rear surround speakers will cut out and then stop working completely--they are hard wired into a wireless subwoofer.

The system is about 5 years old, so out of warranty.

I am able to reset the speakers to get them working again, and then the moment the sound gets a little loud, they cut out (both of them)--and I cannot get them to stay working no matter how many times I reset them.

Is this an issue with the speakers, the woofer, or the whole soundbar system?

I was hoping to be able to just buy different but compatible rear speakers and wire them to the connectors to the woofer, then I read the issue may be an issue with something in the woofer itself.

Can I buy a replacement woofer to fix the issue, or are there any other options?

Vizio TV/ Xbox Series X

Turned on my Xbox to play, and it didn’t automatically turn on my tv like it usually does. Then when I turned on my TV and switched the input, my HDMi image for every port is showing the image to me in different versions all zoomed in, in some way and I cannot change the aspect to anything but widescreen

Why is my Vizio TV not connecting to WiFi suddenly when the signal is strong and is working on other devices?

E550i-A0

The last few weeks the tv will not turn right. I’ve been having to unplug tv and plug it back in. Most times it gets to the “Vizio” logo screen then just shuts off. Most times it takes 3-4 tries for it to stay on. Today, I can’t get it to do anything. It’s dead. I pulled the power control board out of it and checked for burn/scorch marks. It all looks good. All solder joints are intact. I’ve been a loyal Vizio guy for the last 20 years and I’d hate to venture to LG or Samsung. Does anyone have any tips other than replacing the power circuit board

S3821w-C0 with Subwoofer. Is there a way to turn up subwoofer volume?

Model listed in the headline. I’m not sure there is a way, and this is admittedly a pretty ancient soundbar + subwoofer model. Some things I’ve found online tell me to use the “sub” button on the remote, but my remote doesn’t have one (pictured below).

Any thoughts?

Can’t get past TV SetUp

I‘ve had a vizio tv so I already have an account and everything. recently moved and bought a big 75” tv. it’s at the setup part and I scanned the QR code. It says it is set up on my phone and I can even use certain buttons like the power, menu, etc. I can’t skip the setup because then it won’t allow me to watch anything. i tried setting up through the web too but still not working.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to get this to work?

Vizio soundbar won't connect

Im having problems connecting the system to the app. I tried it connected and looking for Bluetooth but it doesn't appear on the app. It just says searching for device. The app seems to not recognize it and its still on the looking for device screen. I’ve removed and downloaded the app a handful of times.

My system is a vizio SB3621n with the subwoofer
